This psychological thriller is a page turner full of tension! I loved the atmospheric writing and setting: small British countryside town. I also enjoyed that it was a quick read that is perfect to pick up for a weekend spent in a reading nook.

In The Silent House, H. M. Lynn delivers a tightly wound psychological thriller that seeps with dread and suspense from the very first page. Imogen and her husband Patrick move to an isolated countryside home seeking peace, but what they find instead is suffocating unease. The locals are odd, shadows slip past her windows at night, and a sudden break-in leaves Imogen rattled, questioning not only her safety but her sanity.
What makes this story so unsettling is its deliberate blurring of lines between reality and paranoia. Is Imogen’s fear rooted in her troubled past, or is someone truly out to harm her? Patrick’s dismissiveness only sharpens the sense of gaslighting, deepening her isolation as the reader is pulled further into her unraveling mind. Lynn’s short, taut chapters and atmospheric prose drive the tension relentlessly forward, each twist landing with precision until the shocking conclusion.
Both intimate and claustrophobic, The Silent House is as much about fractured trust and the scars of trauma as it is about external threats. Fans of Lisa Jewell, Shari Lapena, and Ruth Ware will find themselves hooked, flipping pages late into the night while second-guessing every character’s intentions. It’s a story that lingers long after the final reveal, forcing you to question just how safe a “fresh start” can ever be.

This book was creepy in the best ways possible, and it was filled with so much tension! It was fast-paced and gripping, and the backdrop made it even more creepy and atmospheric.

Imogen and Patrick move to their dream house in a remote rural location which adds the perfect atmosphere for what becomes quite a creepy story and when some strange things start to happen Imogen begins to realise that this move to country wasn’t such a good idea after all.
The tension builds well and the author has added enough layers to the story to make it an entertaining read. It’s an interesting read for an a lazy afternoon, nothing too taxing and with enough going on to keep me turning the pages.

I have mixed feeling about this book. The characters needed more development in order for me to be able to relate to them or be concerned about what happened to them. I really dislike female characters that spend the entire time thinking they are crazy and second guessing everything around them. It is tiresome. The ending felt rushed and incomplete. I knew who was behind the issues but not why. Just didn't have that edge of your seat thrill like a good psychological thriller should.

An amospheric, unsettling read. H.M. Lynn knows how to keep the reader immersed in what is a pacey thriller of a read. Loved the plot twists.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review.

This was creepy in such a fun way. I really enjoyed this book. I’m thrilled with the ending. Usually you can predict thriller endings, but wow this was not predictable!

If you’re in the mood for a quick, twisty psychological thriller, The Silent House delivers just that. It kicks off with a chilling premise: a woman’s fresh start in the countryside slowly unravels into a nightmare of paranoia, eerie locals, and secrets lurking just beneath the surface.
This story had definite Freida McFadden vibes—fast-paced, unpredictable, and filled with enough drama and suspense to keep the pages turning. It’s perfect as a palette cleanser between heavier reads. While I did predict a few reveals, the author still managed to surprise me with twists I didn’t see coming.
Not the most emotionally deep or richly layered book, but it absolutely does the job if you’re looking for something addictive and unsettling. I’d recommend it to fans of domestic thrillers who enjoy questioning every character’s motive right up to the last page.

A dark unsettling feeling about a couples new start in the country. As soon as Imogen moves in she feels uneasy in her new home and the old lady that is her closest neighbour seems a little odd. Almost as soon as she is moved in bad things start happening, she is almost run off the road, her bike tire is damaged and someone has been in her house. Also her new step daughter hates her and when she finds out that she’s having a baby it’s going to get worse. As she starts to seriously fear for her life and sanity will the truth be even darker than she imagined. This is a dark tale of obsession and pain but I could not put this down.

The Silent House was full of suspense, drama, secrets, lies, and betrayal.
I was drawn in quickly, I honestly couldn't put it down.
Imogen was a great main character. She was strong, charismatic, determined, and relatable.
Patrick and Maureen were interesting characters, too.
The storyline was compelling, intriguing, and a little crazy at times.
The twists were clever, but I found the reasoning for why Imogen was being terrorized a bit unhinged. It made for an entertaining read, though.
This is the second book I've read from H.M. Lynn. the first being The Student, which was also a great read. I'm definitely keen to read more from this talented author.
I highly recommend The Silent House.
4 Stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In The Silent House, H. M. Lynn crafts a chilling psychological thriller wrapped in isolation, suspicion, and emotional tension. When Imogen and her husband Patrick move to a secluded country home, what should have been a peaceful fresh start instantly feels off. From unsettling neighbors to shifting shadows outside her window, Imogen becomes consumed by paranoia—unsure whether the danger is supernatural, psychological, or human.
Lynn’s atmospheric prose pulls you into Imogen’s spiraling reality, making it impossible to tell what's imagined and what's real until the final twist. The pacing tightens just as dread sets in, with each revelation peeling back layers until the surprising conclusion. Character development is complex—Imogen is flawed, naive, yet increasingly sympathetic as her past trauma colors her present fears. Patrick’s denial and dismissiveness only deepen her isolation, amplifying the sense of gaslighting that looms over the story.
Overall, The Silent House is a gripping, unsettling read. Ideal for fans of psychological thrillers, it’s a story that lingers in the mind, urging you to question how well you really know the people or spaces in your life. It’s a psychological puzzle wrapped in eerie calm—perfect for an afternoon of spine-tingling suspense.

Just finished reading "The Silent House" by H. M. Lynn, and wow, what a ride! This fast-paced thriller had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The twists and turns are absolutely addictive—I couldn’t put it down! Every chapter left me craving more, as I unraveled the mysteries surrounding the eerie house at the center of the story. If you're looking for a book that will keep your heart racing and your mind guessing, this is it! I highly recommend it.

The Silent House is a chilling psychological thriller that immediately pulls you into a world of mounting paranoia and unsettling secrets. When Imogen and Patrick move to a secluded countryside home for a fresh start, the dream quickly sours as strange occurrences and a pervasive sense of being watched plague Imogen. Lynn expertly ratchets up the tension, making you question Imogen's sanity alongside her, as she grapples with a past breakdown and a husband who seems to doubt her. It's a fast-paced, twisty read that will have you double-checking your own locks and guessing until the very end.

This is a fast-paced, twisty psychological thriller. Short chapters keep the pace active, and the writing style quickly pulls the reader in. Each chapter seems to end on its own cliffhanger, which keeps them turning the pages. Characters are realistic, and there is definitely a creepy factor that keeps readers guessing throughout. It is a slow burn, but the tension builds at a steady pace, keeping the reader engaged.

This is a spine-tingling psychological thriller that takes the idea of a fresh start and twists it into something far more sinister. When the main character relocates to what seems like a peaceful countryside village, it quickly becomes clear that something is very off. The townspeople are just a little too odd, the atmosphere a little too quiet—and the sense of unease builds beautifully from there.
While some plot points are somewhat predictable, the execution is strong enough that it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment. The story is fast-paced, layered with suspense, and packed with twist after twist that keeps you engaged all the way through.
The characters are well crafted, especially the protagonist, whose growing paranoia and doubt mirror the reader’s own as the mystery unfolds. The eerie setting adds to the tension, making you question what’s real, who to trust, and what’s being kept hidden behind closed doors.

‘Our address mentions the road name and the nearest town, which is four miles away. That’s how in the middle of nowhere we are.’
Many thanks to @lovebookstours & @hannahlynnwrites for putting me on this tour ✨
In the middle of nowhere, you can lose more than your own way..
This was good, really really good.
Very twisty and I did not guess any of them.
First book of H.M. Lynns iv read so will definitely be looking up for more.
The MFC was slightly tedious and annoying.. naively believing strangers really.
I loved the twist right at the end , nothing like how I thought It would end.
If you love a creepy, twisty thriller than definitely pick this one up!

I liked this one, but I couldn't say I loved it. I didn't have that connection to the characters. Also, at times I found the plot to be unrealistic. I liked it but I couldn't say I loved it.

it was quite a short book and a slow build but it was pretty good! I enjoyed the twist and the author really made me question the sanity of the narrator. I would definitely pick up another book by this author!
