Very far fetched. I was rooting for our main character to weed out the traitors but it went a little bit too far for me personally.

I enjoyed the beginning of the story. A couple moves into a house in this small isolated town. Strange things start happening to the woman. She doesn’t know if she’s losing her mind or if these things are really occurring. The atmosphere is creepy and tense. However, as the story progresses, things just to get to be ridiculous. The main character started getting on my nerves. She was so worried about everything, and she just kept doubting herself throughout the story. Her husband was horrible and kept gaslighting her. I didn’t like him from the beginning. He just seemed really shady. The book was short, so that was a plus, and it did read rather quickly, but a lot of exciting things didn’t happen until the very end. I thought the ending was crazy and very unbelievable. Overall, this book was not for me.

A fast paced story with lots of twists - one of which I guessed - but that didnt spoil it at all. Highly recommended

When I finish a book in less than a week thats a sign. Great read and loved the writing style. There was so much going on but also so easy to follow and felt like the main character at points (especially towards the end). The ending had its twist which I liked but wish it detailed a bit more of what happened after the fact.

It’s not a who’s done it but more so going through the main characters crazy life. Reminded me a bit of Freida McFadden’s “The Inmate.”

Would definitely recommend adding to your reading list if you’re looking for nice and easy read.

Lastly, thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for sharing the ARC with me!

The Silent House by H. M. Lynn was a great quick psychological thriller and I loved it, especially as it was creepy with brilliant twists and turns throughout that will have you turning the pages over quickly to find out what happens next. It was a brilliant read and a book that I sat and read all day until I finished.

When Imogen and Patrick are moving to the countryside, they are both hoping for a fresh new start together.
London were they lived, was becoming too hectic for both of them and they just need thing to slow down. Imogen is a painter and Patrick a lawyer, Patrick already has a grown up daughter from his previous marriage called Prim. But, Prim dislikes Imogen so much, because her dad was having an affair with her whilst married to her mum Arabella. Prim will never forgive Imogen!

This new house is in the middle of nowhere, and the nearest town is four miles away All excited and looking forward to the future and hopefully to start a new family of their own, but when they drive up to their new house Imogen senses something is very wrong and the locals are so strange. . . . . . . . there's a strange and unsettling atmosphere all around them. Now inside the house, Imogen and Patrick see's shadows outside their home and they both feel they are being watched. . . . . but why do they feel that way?
There is a break-in, and now Imogen becomes so paranoid, and starts questioning everything. She feel she is loosing her sanity and becomes more isolated. Imogen can no shake off she is not safe and someone is out to get her!

But, who???

WoW this book is so good!!!!

Super 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.

I highly commend The Silent House ,

Big Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC

The Silent House is a chilling psychological thriller that hooks you from the very first page. H.M. Lynn masterfully builds an atmosphere of dread and suspense, crafting a story where every creak of the floorboards and every shadow in the corner feels charged with menace.

The novel follows a protagonist haunted by the mysteries lurking within an old, seemingly abandoned house. As the layers of the past are peeled away, readers are drawn into a gripping tale of secrets, guilt, and survival. Lynn’s prose is sharp and evocative, immersing you in an eerie world where nothing is as it seems.

Perfect for fans of slow-burning thrillers and gothic suspense, The Silent House will leave you questioning what’s real and what’s imagined — long after you’ve turned the final page.

Wow! What a ride that was! OK, so I guessed who, but couldn't work out why.
Then I thought I knew, but it couldn't be.That doesn't make sense. And then...
woah! I know none of that makes sense so you'll have to read the book to see what I mean. Honestly my mind was jumping all over the place.

I have to admit that I intensely disliked Imogen at the beginning. I know it was Patrick that was married, but she continued an affair knowing that, and that's unforgivable in my book. But then I felt so dreadfully sorry for the terrible childhood she'd had. Overall she was a complex and multifaceted person who grew on me as her story progressed.

One thing I did like about this book was that it didn't end with a happy ever after. I know that seems odd, but just sometimes I like my books to end more realistically than a fairy tale.

Overall this was a gritty and gripping thriller which kept me on the edge of my seat.

This was a really good thriller! I love a thriller that I don’t guess the ending, this one had me completely wrong. I felt the authors writing was original and creative. None of the book felt overdone and the author has a way of making everything flow well.

What a surprisingly enjoyable read! Quick chapters with cliffhangers that keep you reading, unable to walk away. Imogen and her husband move from the city to the countryside. Immediately upon arrival she finds something upsetting hanging on her gate. So many incidents left me with so many questions. Love the way H. M. Lynn kept pulling the rug out from under my feet every time I thought I knew what was going on.
The action and the plot kept me voraciously reading in spite of my dislike for almost all of the characters. The atmospheric setting definitely added to the tension the plot provided. The ending left me fully satisfied.
This was a totally engrossing read. Many thanks to H. M. Lynn, Boldwood Books Ltd, and NetGalley for providing me with an arc of this recently published read. This is a read that would entertain all readers.

Thank you to @NetGalley, the author and @theboldbookclub for the copy of ‘The Silent House’. I love a psychological thriller so I devoured this one over the course of a couple of days. It is the story of Imogen who has moved to the countryside with her husband Patrick. A picture-perfect cottage and a new start should be all Imogen needs along with the baby she so desperately wants. But when her neighbour Maureen introduces herself, Imogen feels uncertain. After all, strange things have happened since moving into the cottage - someone breaks in, her painting shed is set on fire and there’s Patrick’s mysterious absences. Pregnant, lonely and scared she needs a friend so Maureen is there for her with her squashed fly biscuits and endless cups of tea.

Trust, intrigue and unravelling anxiety is at the core of this book and it was exactly what I needed as a bit of a palette cleanser after ‘Want’.

This was an exciting thriller.
I enjoyed the mystery and suspense throughout the story. The twists kept me hooked, and I couldn’t put it down.
The characters are fantastic, the plot insane and you won't want to stop until you've devoured every last word.
Kept you guessing to the very end of who was the guilty person . Even to the last few pages you were shocked. Really highly recommend this book as a must read.

Imogen and her husband Patrick move to a cottage in the countryside for a new start in their marriage. Imogen has been trying to get pregnant and has had problems with Patrick's adult daughter. Imogen is an artist and thinks the country would be a perfect place to paint. Their first day there they meet a neighbor woman named Maureen and she doesn't seem overly friendly to Imogen. This begins a wild ride of a story where the action is fast and furious and poor Imogen finds strange things happening like someone setting fire to her artist studio with her locked inside, to mysterious funeral wreaths left in her house. We can't tell if she is being gaslighted or is having a mental breakdown.

Parts of this story seemed so familiar to me I was convinced I read it before but then other parts were different so it must be just a common story trope. The author does a good job of not letting us know who to trust and I flew through the book to find out what in the world was going on. It is similar to stories by Freida McFadden and will be a great beach read that can be read in one sitting. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for a review.

First of all, thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC. This is about a newly married couple that decides to move to the countryside to start a new life. While the husband Patrick is in London for work as a lawyer, strange things start happening to the wife Imogen while he is gone. She starts to feel like someone is threatening her. She also has to deal with the drama of her husband's ex-wife and his daughter being in their lives. Imogen's childhood story of her mom dying was very dark. So as an adult she seems very paranoid at times. Why would somebody want to do mean things to her, that is the question. Ms. Lynn got me with this book. I did not see that ending coming. It was crazy. Overall, it was a good thriller, it will have you guessing till the end.

This book was so great that I literally finished it in one sitting.

The story from the very beginning gripped me and I really loved how I was constantly guessing what would happen next. As soon as I thought I knew what would happen next the story flipped and I was totally wrong.

I really liked Imogen as a character too. She is really well written and I love how she slowly seems to unravel with anxieties and concerns. I didn’t always like her but she was so brilliantly written.

Overall if you want to get hooked by a book - this is it! It really is a page turner that you will struggle to put down.
