The Silent House kept me up all night long. I couldn't put it down. H.M Lynn has a knack for story telling, she will draw you in and make you trust noone, not even yourself. Would recommend.

I went in to this book semi-blind. I had originally read the description, but forgot about it when I starting reading it. I'm happy that I forgot what it was about, because in the end I wanted more. Was it eerie and psychological, as describe...maybe somewhat. I may feel differently if I liked the FMC. I just found her too erratic or susceptible to whatever happened next. I don't mind characters that second guess and try to distiguish betwen what's happening and not, but Imogen was just gullible and not the best of characters. The gaslighting was insane, but not in an ok this matches the story and what it's trying to portray. The end twist was good, but I figured it out before the reveal was complete; and the ending just fell flat in the epilogue. I need the epilogue to punch or tie things up, this just ended.

Title: The Silent Houser
Author: H.M. Lynn
Publisher: Boldwood Books
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Pub Date: July 12, 2025
My Rating: 3.8 rounded up
Pages: 272

Imogen Blake and Patrick Cromford just moved from London to the middle of nowhere, where the nearest town is four miles away. She’s a painter and he is a forty-eight year old lawyer, and although he is sixteen years older than Imogen and has an adult daughter Prim they want to start a family together.

Imogen grew up in London in an area that would be considered a dangerous place aka the slums. So life with Patrick is a dream comes true.

Prim now twenty-one hates Imogen because she and Patrick were having an affair when he was still married to Prim’s mom, Arabella. Getting out of the city and escaping that mess of a situation seemed like the perfect idea…until they moved in. …Yikes!

Immediately, creepy things start happening. It seems the people who live in this tiny areas of cottages all seem very strange.
The only person who seems halfway normal is neighbor, Maureen. ~ Hmmm

This story was not what I expected have to admit I loved it as ~
~ was or wasn’t what I thought!!!

This is my first H.M. or Hannah M. Lynn read but will definitely read another

Want to thank NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this this early eGalley.

What a book this was! Short, snappy chapters which made you want to keep reading to find out what happens next! A few twists (one that I guessed!) which shocked me! It definitely didn’t go as I was expecting it to and I ended up feeling sorry for the FMC Imogen. We learn more about Imogen’s past as the book goes on and this was important to allow you to understand why she acts the way she does. Maureen creeped me out from the minute she was introduced, and normally I love an older character! Great book that had me wanting more!

A light but engaging read. A psychological thriller with a small group of characters (which aside from the dog I didn't much care for if I'm honest).

The storyline of a couple moving to the country for a new start, strange happenings in the house with elements of 'now you see me, now you don't' has enough twists and turns to keep your focus.

In order to avoid spoilers I'll not touch on the ending other than to say loose ends were tied up.

The publication date of 12th June 2025 is in my view ideal as this is a well written thriller ideal for holiday times.

Many thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC which was very much appreciated.

Fast-Paced, Brain-Cleansing Thriller

This one was exactly what I needed, a nice brain cleanse between heavier reads. Simple, fast-paced, and easy to fly through. The main female character was a bit naïve, but it fit the tone and made for a familiar ride if you’re a fan of Freida McFadden-style thrillers.

There were definitely some parts I skimmed certain scenes didn’t feel necessary and dragged slightly but overall, it moved quickly and held my attention. The ending was satisfying and wrapped things up nicely, which I always appreciate in a thriller.

If you’re in a reading slump, waiting for a highly-anticipated release, or just want a quick escape, this is a solid pick. Not groundbreaking, but definitely entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A very good psychological thriller which keeps you gripped throughout. Imogen and Patrick have just moved to a new house in the country to what should be the house of their dreams however this turns to nightmares as opposed to dreams. Whenever Patrick had gone to work in London, strange things started happening to Imogen within the property .
Initially a slow burner you eventually get pulled in and you don't want to put the book down. As the story unfolds so does a very unexpected twist.

A really suspenseful read. Patrick and Imogen , the main characters , move to the countryside and are hoping to start a family. Strange happenings occur. As the plot and story progressed I began to doubt what was true and what wasn't, also who to believe and who not to believe. . Another enjoyable read by this author.

This is one of those books you tear through as you are so keen to see what happens. Fast paced and kind of spooky, it’s a good choice for those who like thrillers but don’t want to have to think too hard about what’s going on,

Decent book and my first by this author. I liked Imogen but wasn’t sure about Patrick, I liked how it went into her past and it linked with the strange goings on. I did feel the twist at the end and how ‘next door’ was connected was a little far fetched

If you’re looking for a quick read, this one might be worth checking out. A couple decides to start a new life in the country, leaving their old lives behind. But are they really leaving everything behind?

There were a few twists I found, but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the characters. They were quite bland! However, I wanted to finish the book and see where it goes.

This story is based on Imogen who is a very popular artist. The story starts when she moves to an isolated location with her husband to get away from her husband's daughter. It's a short book and can be completed within a day. Nothing special or unexpected happen in this book. Those who have read various psychological thriller books will be able to guess it soon.
Lastly I would like to thank NetGalley and Boldwood books for this ARC.

Being my first H.M. Lynn book, I really enjoyed this read! The story totally captivated me from chapter one. I really liked that the chapters were short and engaging, the mystery and strangeness of the story, the twists and turns, and the character dynamics. Soo much suspense. Overall, an AMAZING thriller!!

The Silent House by H.M. Lynn is about a woman named Imogen who moves to a quiet house in the countryside with her husband to start over. But from the moment they arrive, weird things start happening—strange noises, odd neighbors, and a constant feeling that someone’s watching them.

With a fast moving story and short chapters, it was easy to read this all at once. Some twists were easy to guess, but it was still a fun and spooky ride that I recommend reading!

Thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and H.M. Lynn for the advanced reader copy of The Silent House ahead of its proposed released date of June 12th!

thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

I liked this!! it was fast paced, psychologically thrilling, and easy to read. i felt like every character had some sort of motive or the author made me FEEL like every character was the problem which is fun. I personally didn’t predict the ending (sometimes I also just shut my brain off and read without trying to look forward in the story). I do feel the climax to the end was quite abrupt, like I wish there was MORE to the ending if that makes any sense? idk bahahah I liked it! 3.5/5!

This book started off tense from the first few pages and continued to the end. With short chapters and almost non-stop action, the author did a great job keeping the suspense at a heightened state. Imogene has a traumatic past that affected her deeply. Now an adult and married, she and her husband have moved to the countryside for the quiet and are hoping to have a baby.
But strange and dangerous things begin to happen Almost immediately after moving in to Imogene. Based on her past, will her husband believe her? Is there anyone she can trust? A good creepy eARC book that I received and thoroughly enjoyed from Netgalley and Boldwood Publishing. This review is my honest opinion.

The Silent House follows Patrick and Imogen, a wealthy couple who have decided to move to the countryside for a quieter lifestyle. I don’t think the title fits the book, however, as there’s too much chaos and things happening inside that home for it to be considered silent.

This was a fairly easy read and very light on the suspense or mystery. I feel that the characters weren’t very likable and the development was lacking. Imogen was a very naïve and weak female, with childhood trauma that was not really touched on throughout the story until the end. I feel like a deeper dive into that early on would have been better.

The two began their relationship with Patrick still married, and his grown daughter immediately dislikes Imogen for breaking up her parents. Still the couple quickly marry and begin IVF for a baby of their own. When the craziness starts, Patrick dismisses her feelings and has her thinking her past trauma mixed with the IVF and pregnancy hormones could be causing her to hear or see things that aren’t there. She seems to believe and trust Patrick far too much.

This book may be suitable for someone looking for a light read that can be finished in the afternoon or someone new to psychological thrillers.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced review copy.

Once I started, I could not put this book down. I needed to know what was going to happen and finished the book in one day. Very good psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the end.
