Jessica/ Jess has a company - Kicks with her best friend Sam and she loves her job. Jess is an accomplished marketer and event planner. Jess had a son Connor when she was sixteen and he is nineteen now. Jess didn’t tell Troy who had been her H S boyfriend - Connor’s father - as he left town shortly after they had been together. Jess was left with an ugly memory. Troy never answered any of Jess’s attempts to let him know about Connor so she ended up married to graeme but then she caught Graeme cheating and she left and divorced him and is single. Jess has no real social life. Jess’s company is doing well. Now she has a major contract with Somers hoteliers to launch the new Somers hotel opening. This is a high profile case she had waited for. Nate id the son of the CEO of Somers Hotels. Nate has fixed his father;s PR nightmares- his father’s affairs with women much younger than him. Nate is staying in Sydney to oversee the new hotel. So this new project Nate needs to show he is ready to take over control of Somers Hotels. Nate lives and breathes the company. Even leaving his ex wife -who was a gold digger and bitter- and daughter behind to pursue what he wants. Nate goes to Kicks to get the projections for the new hotel, meet Kicks staff and project manager Jess. Jess goes to the first meeting with Nate soaked and late.expecting Nate’s father but learns Nate is heading this project. There is a strong hot chemistry between Nate and Jess. Jess is determined to stay professional and she needed this project to be perfect as this will shoot Jess’s company to the big league. Jess and Nate spend a lot of time together working on this big project. They end up giving into their attraction but it is only a fling. There was rules like no sleepovers, never spending time together on the weekends, or going on dates. Nate doesn’t want to get close to another woman and get used again. Then feelings start to develop and both Nate and Jess need to step back. This was to be a part time thing as Nate was only supposed to be there six months. Needing a break Jess heads to a country retreat she frequents and meets up with her ex boyfriend Troy- Connor’s father-. Troy finally learned of his son he had missed twenty years of. But he takes the news pretty well but he did want to meet Connor and he wants Jess back. Troy has a stable job and lives in Australia and he clearly loves Jess but Jess doesn’t feel the same excitement every time she sees Troy like she did Nate. Nate has to decide if he can walk away from Jess,
I enjoyed reading this book. I thought Jess and Nate had unrealistic expectations especially Nate. I did love Nate and Jess together and how they interacted especially at business meetings. I liked the ending. I loved the plot and pace. I read this in one setting. I loved the twists that were shot in this story. I really liked how the arthur handled when Troy met his son Connor. I liked the characters and the twists in this book and I recommend this book. .
