It was interesting to read a story set in the early 1700s in North America. I have heard of the Deerfield raid, in which a number of English settlers were captured by the Indians, but I don’t recall ever reading a book about it before. At the same time, I wondered how authentic the story was. I don’t remember hearing of “missionaries” sent out among the Indians from the Puritan villages on the scale this story seems to indicate. Also, some of the terminology feels much too modern for a book set in the early 18th century. I also didn’t like the constant fighting or thinking about fighting all the way through.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley, and these are my honest thoughts about it.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC. Although the story was quite interesting, I personally found it quite difficult to read the story due to the grammatical error. Unfortunately the story was difficult to follow and didn’t interest me as much as I had hoped.
