I read this book in one sitting! I have not read a dark romance book in MONTHS and this one was perfect for getting back into this world. I am absolutely obsessed with Mia and Rom (fe) I love how Rom brings out the real Mia and helps her speak out against those who hurt her and I love how Mia brings the light back to Rom's life.
The only complaint I have about this book is that it WAS TOO SHORT. I never wanted it to end !!
If you like enemies to lovers, touch her and dle vibes, obsessed mmc, mafia, good girl x bad boy, and forbidden romances then you should definitely check this one out!

This book was AMAZING! It's been a while since a good mafia book hooked me and this one was IT! I'm obsessed with Romolo!

I really enjoyed this take on a mafia romance!
First of all, let’s start with some triggers:
- ptsd with a very detailed panic attack
- SA
- unloving parents
I first want to start off with the main characters. Omg I adored them so much.
Mia is the stereotypical good girl who puts everyone else before herself. Her kind heart and willingness to believe the good in everyone was honestly perfect for a man like Romolo.
Now, Romolo is the exact opposite. A mafia boss’s son who is no stranger to violence. What I really appreciated about his character though, is that he isn’t the typical hardened mafia man. There is a lot more to him than his rough edges. His backstory truly broke my heart and it made me so happy that this fictional character got such a patient and kind fictional woman.
The chemistry between the main characters was undeniable! Between this and the character development, I honestly couldn’t help but yearn for these two to have a happily ever after. The good girl and the bad boy… compete opposites and yet they balanced each other perfectly. It was easy to see why they longed for one another.
I really enjoyed the story. There was a lot of thought put into the storyline and which made for an enjoyable experience. It was easy to get on board with the conflicts the characters faced because it was totally believable and wasn’t cheesy.
The plot twist though!!! Omg, I didn’t see that coming. I was definitely suspicious but things didn’t play out at all like I thought they would which I appreciated because it was so much better than I could have came up with.
The spice was totally on point. It never came out of left field and instead occurred naturally between the characters. It also wasn’t over the top but definitely not vanilla. (Which I wouldn’t expect a mafia guy to be boring in the sack.) Just perfection.
Loved the ending. I couldn’t have asked for a better conclusion. All loose ends seemed to be tied up neatly.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and wouldn’t hesitate to read it again.
I recommend to anyone who enjoys mafia/forbidden romance.
I definitely recommend you mind the triggers though. The very detailed panic attack one of the main characters has was no joke and a bit tough to digest. It was definitely written well and totally believable which made the experience pretty rough for someone who struggles with an anxiety disorder.

Be With Me is the first book in the House of Ferraro series by Gabrielle Sands and it is an enemies to lovers mafia romance.
Mia is the daughter of the man expected to be the next mayor and she is putting her business on the back burner while the election campaign is on as she’s doing everything she can to ensure her father gets elected.
Tattooed, morally grey Romolo Ferraro is a member of the notorious crime family Mia’s father has promised to take down once elected. His job is to collect intel the family can use against Mia’s father and he’ll do whatever it takes to get it.
Mia is smart and she knows Rom is suddenly turning up at the same events as her because he wants info on her father and she knows she needs to avoid him. The problem is she doesn’t want to.
“But we were the same. Both of us were starved for the love we'd never received.
The only difference was I’d kept searching for it. He’d stopped.”
Mia and Rom both had trauma in their past they needed to work through and I loved seeing them peeling back the layers to show each other who they really are. Their chemistry was fire and I loved the yearning and angst, the push and pull of their relationship and the suspense and twists that kept the story interesting.
Mia was the light to Romolo’s dark and he would burn the world down for her! His declaration of love was definitely one of my favourite parts of the book!
“I love you.” The words scorched their way out of me. “I love you like I’ve never loved anything in my goddamn life. It’s terrifying. It’s relentless. You’ve gotten under my skin and into my soul, and you didn’t even try. Somewhere along the way, I stopped being mine and became yours.”
Overall, I loved this book! It was a 5 star read for me and I can’t wait to see what happens in the rest of the series.
- mafia romance
- enemies to lovers
- forbidden romance
- slow burn
- bad boy/good girl

Listen, this book started off a little slow and even a bit silly—but then bam—I was suddenly hooked and couldn’t put it down.
We get a modern spin on the classic Romeo and Juliet tale that keeps you on your toes and makes you fall in love right alongside the main characters.
One of my favorite things about this story was Mia. She remained genuinely good throughout the entire book. So often, FMCs bend or compromise themselves to align with the MMC—but not Mia. She stood her ground and, in doing so, inspired Romolo to grow into a better version of himself just to be with her.
Mia is soft, kind, and wears her heart on her sleeve. She loves fearlessly and takes care of everyone around her—yet she’s never really had anyone take care of her. Then along comes Romolo, flipping her world upside down, and she finally finds a place where she belongs—even if it’s with the son of her father’s worst enemy.
Another standout for me was the mystery element. There were so many layers, secrets, and questions woven throughout that kept me fully invested.
This felt like such a classic, well-done mafia romance—with just the right balance of danger, heart, and steam.
This was my first book by this author, but it definitely won’t be my last. If the rest of her work is anything like this one… I’M SOLD.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Mia is the daughter of someone running for mayor, and her dad's entire platform is about taking down the mafia in their town. Romolo is part of an infamous mafia family in town. Mia and Romolo meet at her best friend's engagement party, which Mia wasn't supposed to be invited to because her best friend didn't tell her she is part of the mafia. Mia freaks out because she knows her father is working to take down the hero's family.
Mia tries her best to avoid Romolo, but Romolo's Mother orders him to keep an eye on her to find out who is backing her father's campaign. He becomes obsessed with her and hires her as his stylist.
Mia and Romolo shouldn't be together because they come from entirely different worlds, but they can't help but be attracted to each other. This was such a fun mafia romance, I couldn't put this book down.
Gabrielle Sands is easily becoming a new favorite of the mafia. Romance author, I can't wait for more books in the series.
Please check the author's trigger warning page before reading this book. It is a dark romance.
Thank you, Gabrielle Sands and NetGalley, for an arc of this title; all thoughts are my own.

My favorite Gabrielle Sands book to date!
I loved Rom and Mia.
I loved seeing how Mia came into herself throughout the book. She finally felt everything she craved with Rom. Rom loved her so loudly, even as he refused to tell her what she means to him.

As soon as i started reading this i was utterly just captured inside of this story. The enemies to lovers had my knees weak with that tension.
I was not ready for this, Mayor to be daughter and the mafia son, Oh My Gawd.

What a book. I can't believe the carousel of emotions it put me through.
From the first moment Romolo and Mia met I was totally hooked and I sucked the book in, waiting for every interaction between the two.
I loved their hapless Romeo and Juliet style love, but they were definitely made for each other, and even though they tried they couldn't stay away.
Totally loved it, I suffered with Romolo to tears, truly Gabrielle, I've read all your mafia books, but this book, pfff, it was supreme.

ARC received from NetGalley! I had SO MUCH FUN reading this book omg 😭 mia and rom are so cute it makes me sick. The story pacing and plot were fantastic, there was no bad part in my opinion 🙂↕️ now I need Fabi and Cos’s book 🙏🙏

I was so excited to finally get my hands on "Be With Me" by Gabrielle Sands, and it absolutely delivered! As a huge fan of mafia romances, especially those with a delicious slow burn, this book was everything I'd hoped for and more.
"Be With Me" plunges you into a world of forbidden desire, centering on the enemies-to-lovers trope. We're introduced to Mia, the seemingly perfect daughter of a prominent political figure, and Romolo Ferraro, the intense and morally grey son of the mafia boss her father aims to destroy.
The contrast between Mia and Romolo is simply captivating. Mia's polished exterior hides a yearning for something more, while Romolo's dark and dangerous aura is utterly compelling. Their interactions are charged with a palpable tension that builds with every page. The slow-burn romance is executed perfectly, making the eventual payoff incredibly satisfying. And when the spice hits, it's explosive!
But "Be With Me" offers more than just a captivating romance. The intricate plot, filled with political intrigue, shocking family secrets, and past betrayals, kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when you think you know where the story is going, another layer is revealed.
This book is a masterclass in balancing intense chemistry with a gripping storyline. It's a world that's easy to get lost in, and the author does a great job of giving you enough details to understand the dynamics without ever overwhelming the reader.
If you love dark mafia romances, enemies-to-lovers stories, and slow-burns that deliver on their promise, "Be With Me" is an absolute must-read.
My Rating: 4.5/5
I eagerly await the next installment in this series!

I thought this book was the first in the series but then I read the author’s note that Cosimo story already happened. I was very confused, so maybe this is a rerelease? I think the backstory got cobbled together and did not make a lot of sense to me. The writing was ok enough that I did finish the book, but was not super invested in the plot. There were a lot of holes and rough patches to those holes. I did not like the characters that much. There was some Romeo and Juliet vibes, but the mafia aspect of the story was very minor. Their relationship did not consist of a lot, she is selfless and all he wants is her. His trauma was strange, and it did not help the story. Mia being unloved by her family was not that interesting and it came across as pathetic. Lots of hints to her friend Fabi’s upcoming marriage for the next book or is already the first book. I would not continue the series. I received an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Gabrielle Sands delivers a sizzling and emotionally charged tale in Be With Me, the inaugural installment of the House of Ferraro series. This dark mafia romance introduces readers to a world where forbidden love and dangerous alliances intertwine, creating a narrative that is both captivating and intense.
At the heart of the story is the electrifying connection between the protagonists. Sands masterfully crafts characters who, despite being from opposing worlds, find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other. The “bad boy” and “innocent girl” trope is explored with depth, revealing layers that challenge initial perceptions and add complexity to their relationship.
The novel is replete with steamy encounters that are tastefully written, enhancing the chemistry between the leads without overshadowing the plot. Sands’ prose is engaging, with a narrative pace that keeps readers hooked from beginning to end.
What sets Be With Me apart is its exploration of themes like identity, loyalty, and the moral ambiguities of love within the dangerous world of organized crime. Sands doesn’t shy away from the darker aspects of her characters’ lives, providing a realistic portrayal that adds gravity to the romantic elements.
As the first book in the House of Ferraro series, Be With Me sets a high standard, promising more enthralling stories in the same vein. It’s a must-read for fans of dark romance looking for a story that combines passion, danger, and emotional depth.

I really enjoyed it! Thanks so much for allowing me an early copy! My review is attached on Goodreads

4.5 ⭐
This book was so, so good, it's hard for me to put it into words because it's been hours since I finished it and I'm still screaming into my pillow.
I loved everything about Mia & Romolo - their character growth, their personalities, their Romeo & Juliet-esque romance. They were perfect for each other. I especially loved and appreciated that Romolo WASN'T awful, much like most men in your typical mafia series, and instead, he was thoughtful and gentle towards Mia, even in his thoughts (oh my god especially in his thoughts). Mia really brought that out in him and, likewise, he brought out the best in her - inspired her to take control of her life, encouraging her to be herself and to pursue her own happiness and wants. I just loved how and what they thought of each other, and everything about them was so natural. Their actions and words came so natural to them, and I loved seeing that come into play with other characters and the more dramatic parts of the plot with their families.
And don't even get me started on the way they didn't give up on each other at all? They COMMUNICATED instead of letting things get to them. They had such unwavering trust in each other when things got difficult and I appreciated that so, so much.
I also have to give a shoutout to Mia because she was the sweetest, and she had so much fire in her. She was just very deserving of all things good and happy. I read this and immediately knew after finishing it that I could trust her in his hands. She's officially one of my fave FMCs ever!
The whole 'you take care of everyone, who takes care of you’ thing is also one of my favourite things to read about. This book with Mia and Romolo was such a beautiful answer to it. I'm afraid I might not ever get over them !!
And this is all on amazing writing!!!! While I talk about the way the characters and their romance made me feel, this was definitely down to how well everything was written. Throughout this book, I laughed, I smiled, I ached, I wanted to cry. Be With Me had the perfect amount of romance, spice, drama and intrigue in it. I was hooked on them, but incredibly invested in the side characters (I can't wait for Cos and Fabi's book?!!?!) and the drama between their families too. This was my first Gabrielle Sands book and I'm incredibly impressed. Even the acknowledgements were perfect.
Thank you for giving me the chance to review this! I’ll be dedicating a post to this book/review on May 14, 2025 on my Instagram: @alecswithabook, so please check it out!

Gabrielle Sands mafia world just keeps getting better and BETTER.
I've been so curious to learn more of the Ferraro family, and in this one we are treated with the youngest Romolo. This has major Romeo and Juliet vibes, with Mia being a daughter of a Mayor candidate who is set to bring the Ferraro crime family down.
When Romolo first encounters Mia, he quickly can't stop thinking of her. When he finds out who she is, he makes it his mission to use her for his families advantage. Our girl Mia though, she's too smart and sees right through his intentions but that doesn't stop her from keeping him around.
So excited to read the next book with Cos x Fabi...and eventually Alessio!
Thank you to Netgalley and Gabrielle Sands for this arc.

I absolutely love this book! If you’ve been chasing the mafia romance high since you read The Sweetest Oblivion, this is the book for you!
It’s a Romeo and Juliet drama. The sweet selfless good girl, the bad boy who does whatever necessary to get the result he wants. Dirty spicy scenes, heartwarming realizations. Finding out the good girl might not be so good, and the bad boy might not be so bad.

I don’t normally love mafia romances but I ate this up. The political intrigue, the forbidden romance… it was so good. I really liked Mia and Rom as well as most of the side characters. I felt like the plot was well planned and the characters were well developed. I will definitely be reading the next book!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc ebook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Mia & Romolo were fun! But I got the feeling that everything happened so fast between them and that I needed more building and time in their relationship!
Because it's the first book, though, in the series it's also an introduction to the rest Ferraro family members and I got myself really intrigued with Cosimo's & Fabi's story but also with Alessio's character!
Read this if you need a relatively short and fast paced mafia story with various interesting characters!
