This was a great, down to earth, private detective st0ry. Great characters that were easy to relate to and a complex murder mystery which was gradually picked apart in conjunction with the police, Very enjoyable conclusion

Question of Guilt is a gripping addition to Sally Rigby’s Detective Sebastian Clifford series—and I can’t believe this is the first one I’ve picked up. It won’t be the last. From the very first chapter I was hooked, pulled straight into a decades-old murder mystery that refuses to stay buried.
When Daryl Brackstone approaches private investigators Seb Clifford and Lucinda “Birdie” Bird, she’s desperate to prove her father’s innocence. He died in prison after being convicted of poisoning her mother Helen, but Daryl has never believed the verdict. What begins as a cold case soon becomes a dangerous hunt for the truth, uncovering corruption, destroyed files, and a victim who was far more than the suburban housewife she appeared to be.
Rigby expertly balances the procedural detail of a historical investigation with the pace of a modern thriller. Seb and Birdie’s dynamic is sharp and engaging, blending professional grit with flashes of humor and humanity. As threatening messages escalate and their inquiries put them in the crosshairs, the tension ratchets up page by page. By the time the final revelations landed, I was fully invested—not only in the case, but in these two investigators and the world Rigby has built around them.
This works perfectly as a standalone, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to go back and devour the earlier books. Clever, fast-paced, and full of twists, Question of Guilt proves Sally Rigby is a must-read for fans of tightly woven detective fiction.

This is the first book I have read by Sally Rigby and I have to say that I loved it. It will not be the last one I read. I'm going to read the whole series because it had me on the edge of my seat wanting no needing more because I had to know what was happening.
Seb and Birdie have a case that intrigues them and they want to help out but it is a case that has already been solved so they think. But as they dig in the case becomes anything but normal. You have so many things from corrupt cops to corrupt business associates that the more the story unfolds the more your like who is the real killer and why did they kill the person.
This is one of those series that draws you in and keeps you invested till the end. So go on out and buy you this book and start the series that I know will keep you plastered to the pages. Thank you to Net-Galley for allowing me to read this ARC.

Love the characters of Birdie and Sebastian- they work well together. The book itself is well into a series but also reads well as a standalone.
The pace is gentle and the detective work very clever with an element of threat and danger even though it is a cold case.
A thoroughly enjoyable read!

Daryl Blackstone asks PIs Sebastian Clifford and Lucinda Bird to investigate her mother's murder which took place many years ago. Although her father was convicted of the crime and died in prison, Daryl has always believed in his innocence. When Lucia and Sebastian investigate, they discover Daryl's mother was not only a housewife, but was also involved with an activist group investigating high-level corruption. When they start receiving threatening messages to stop their investigation, they become determined to solve the mystery and help right the miscarriage of justice for Daryl and her father.
This cold-case thriller is well-paced and the storyline compelling. I loved the banter and connection between Seb and 'Birdie' which adds another dimension to the story. This is a thoroughly engaging mystery - I will definitely be looking to read more of this series!
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book.

a Question of Guilt is a cold-case mysterie, Although this was the first book I read in the Seb(astian) and Birdie series, turned out it was in fact the seventh episode. It was quite easy to read as a stand alone however, but somehow I found the main characters a bit shallow and this was just not really my cup of tea. Too little suspense and sometimes I had difficulty keeping my thoughts with the book.
I'm sure there is a large pool of readers who will love this series but it just isn't for me.
2,5 stars but I'm in a good mood so 3 stars

Another clever and thrilling book from Sally. I do enjoy these books as it keeps me guessing right until the end. I never know who done the deed and am always surprised to find out who it is. My thanks to netgalley and the publisher's for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

This was my introduction into the Seb and Birdie series.
I think this is book 7.
First, I’m so glad I was able to read this and not feel like I’m missing a whole world with not reading the others.
The story was pretty good. It was suspenseful and kept me guessing. About half way in you kinda know who is responsible for the murder but not the full extent. So that’s nice. I was worried I would get bored, but I didn’t.
The characters were great. Live the Seb and Birdie dynamic and also their differences. They make a great team.
Definitely enjoyed book 7 and have the others on my list to read later
Thank you NetGalley for the copy

PIs Sebastian Clifford and Lucinda ‘Birdie’ Bird are contacted by Daryl Brackstone. Many years ago her mother was murdered using cyanide and her father was arrested for it and subsequently died in prison. Daryl never believed in her father's guilt and now a podcaster has contacted her with some insight into her mother's life she never knew before. She wants Seb and Birdie to find out the truth. However this case ,although a very cold one, soon proves dangerous for our sleuthing duo.
I have read a couple of books in this series and enjoyed them. This was an enjoyable read that kept me guessing. Thanks to Netgalley & te publisher for letting me read & review this book

I read this as a stand alone book and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Well paced page turner that piqued my interest enough to ensure I finished the book in a couple of sittings.
I have read other titles by this author and highly recommend.

It’s more like a 3.5⭐️ for me. It was entertaining, likeable, but not really my cup of tea. This was one more for readers who really enjoy hanging out with a sleuth duo as they banter back and forth and solve a crime in the background. If you like this team of private investigators there is a whole series and a big following. A little to tame, predictable, yet sometimes too convenient for my taste.

A well written and intriguing murder mystery. I loved the characters involved and would like to read more about them. This wasn’t as exciting as I’d hoped, but it was a good read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc.

I hadn't read any books in this series previously, but I still connected with the characters and understood their relationship dynamics after the initial chapters. The mystery is a tragic cold case that Sebastian and Birdie immediately want to investigate. It's easy to follow the investigation, and the reader initially knows more than the protagonists. I like the plot twists, the building suspense and the sense of menace that increases with each discovery Sebastian and Birdie make. I have bought the first three in the series on audiobook, and I look forward to learning more about Sebastian and Birdie.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

Outstanding ! This book was fantastic
I didn’t know this book was a part of series but it was great standalone and I didn’t feel like I missed out on previous books
Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing

I loved this book at first, the writing and the energy of the case and lapped the first 6 or 7 chapters up. I am afraid to say that as it progressed, that I started to be less interested in the plot, which became a little too contrived. There are a couple of twists in the plot, which is fairly predictable. Parts a little far-fetched , the questioning of some of those involved with some of the crimes. On the whole not bad though and although the book is not too long, I was glad to finish it. I do like these investigators and would like to read more about them.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC

Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an early copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. I loved this book and read it in one sitting! I thought it was well written and loved the characters. I would definitely recommend this book.

When Daryl approached Seb and Birdie, private investigators regarding a decades old case - her mothers murder, her fathers incarceration till he died in prison, there was little hope that anything new could be discovered. To the contrary, what turned up was a slew of missed interviews of people relevant to the case, corrupt cops and a carelessness which was planned and callous to pin the murder on the husband.
The slow unraveling of a case decades old was different. Files had been destroyed, many of the key people from police to witnesses were dead, there was shoddy paper work and just to get the timeline right took a lot of work.
Despite the time lapse, it was obvious that powers that be were uneasy at the pace of the investigation, and Seb and Birdie had to be cautious that they wouldn’t be the next victims.
The story telling was excellent and I did like the way the procedurals were followed in the investigatio

A solid, twisty cold-case thriller that hooked me from the start. When Daryl Brackstone hires Seb and Birdie to investigate her mother’s long-ago murder, they uncover a web of secrets reaching far beyond a simple domestic tragedy. The mix of past corruption, activist intrigue, and present-day danger makes this a compelling, fast-paced read. Fans of the series will find this installment especially satisfying.

Thank you to NetGalley & Storm Publishing for the chance to read this book!
First off let me say, EVEN THOUGH it was very clearly labeled I did not realize this was book 7 of a series when I started to read it! I did feel like I might have missed some backstory between the characters but that is all, reading this as a stand alone did not take away from the book at all! (I will however be going back to read the rest of them very soon! Sure that alone will give you a hint to how this review is about to go!) Honestly I loved it, was hooked from the beginning... Not gonna lie the name Daryl for a girl kind of threw me for a loop first few times I read it.. All for guys names for girls, gender neutral names and all that just not sure Daryl worked.. but anyway not important! Let's move on
Loved the Dynamic between all the detectives/PI and his daughter, The joke about the super computer really made me laugh out loud! Loved how it was all simply explained so even just a regular reader with no experience in any of these fields could clearly understand what was going on! I was very thoroughly invested in the characters and the storyline! The surprise at the end for Seb when his daughter joined the celebration was awesome, made for a pretty good laugh after all the heavier stuff. Nicely done Sally! I will go back and start from the beginning and make sure I get all the storyline before the next comes out

A very well done mystery series. Sally Rigby does a great job of creating just enough mystery to keep you intrigued without over doing it. A great palate cleanser of a book!!
