This is a very good spy thriller with lots of suspense and action. I have not read the first book but must now go back and do so. I highly recommend.
Many thanks to Clink Street Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

What we have here is another winner from Mr Sinclair and yet another off my to-be-read pile!

Having recently read the first in the series, "Dance With The Enemy", I admit to being a little nervous as to whether this instalment was going to be as good however, I needn't have worried .... this is just as good and had been hooked from start to finish.

With loads of action and suspense, fantastic characters and excellent story, this is a riveting spy thriller and one I would highly recommend. This is the second in the series and although not absolutely essential, I would recommend you read the first ... believe me, you won't be disappointed.

Once again, belated thanks go to Clink Street Publishing and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review.

The second book has Carl Logan going into Russia but into the mission, it falls apart and he is captured. Now trying to figure out what has happened and why this fast-paced thriller takes you from Russia to England and parts in between. All the while having Carl trying to figure who he is and who he is supposed to be fighting against. Another fast-paced story from beginning to end with some new characters and some from the first book. A very good story.

This book was ok. It was fast paced so I sped through reading it. I found the story line quite tedious, I did not take to the main character and I found the violence a bit much. I don't think I will be reading the next one in the series, even though it finishes on a cliffhanger

Thoroughly enjoyed the second of this series of three, which I read directly after the first. Suffice it to say, the third has already been downloaded...

What does it take to break a broken man?

In Rise of the Enemy we find that Carl Logan is sent to Russia on a new mission, to infiltrate RTK Technologies and steal information on Project Ruby. What should have been a simple mission for Carl and fellow colleague Dmitri ends up going horribly wrong, and Carl finds himself being held prisoner by the Russians. Why he hasn't been killed yet, Carl has yet to figure out. Carl is held captive and tortured for 3 months, during his captivity, he begins to understand more about why the Russians have kept him alive and what they have planned for him. The only option for Carl now is to plan his escape, but what waits for him on the other side?

Rise of the Enemy differs from Dance with the Enemy in that it's told in the first person rather than the third person, for me... I'm not sure if I preferred this to the latter. This novel has a lot more action than Dance with the Enemy does, in Dance with the Enemy I felt that we got a better sense of who Carl Logan was on a more emotional level, but in Rise of the Enemy, we see more of what Carl Logan is made of physically. Both have their benefits, but with all of the action that this novel contained I found it hard to follow along at times. I really had to try and visualize the "moves" as they were happening. Don't get me wrong, Sinclair does a good job with descriptive writing, so it's not terribly difficult to do, but because there is SO much action it was a common theme throughout this book for me to have to pause at times to really process what was happening. I also felt that this book lacked character development. There were several characters, Lena, Mary, Chris, but none really had a huge impact to me.

There were several points within the novel that took me by surprise that had my jaw hanging wide open, so for that, I was pleased. I like the element of surprise. This was an easy read, and the plot was interesting, though I would have liked it if the action was dialed back just a bit and the characters and storyline were developed just a bit more.

I am interested to read the final novel in the series, Hunt for the Enemy, as we were left with somewhat of a cliffhanger in Rise of the Enemy.

This was a good read but I found it a little depressing. It was the only book in the series that I have read and I don't think I missed too much. I might go read the first in the series.

I received my copy through NetGalley for a true and honest opinion.

This book is a continuation of the story line from within Dance with the Enemy.

Now the book follows the trials and tribulations of Logan as he tries to understand what is happening to him. He has been captured and tortured by the Russians, and he is looking see why this has happned, has he been left to rot by the JIA?

Escaping sets off a large backlash and another twist comes in.... was he sold out by someone else in a deal that is false?

Action, galore and suspense and intrigue. Excellent book - busy on with the 3rd book no I bought.

The hero of the book is Carl Logan who is a mix of Jason Bourne, Jack Teacher and Ben Hope. he is trained to be a special agent of sorts and works for a secret agency sponsored by MI 6 and the CIA. There is lots of action, the story line, although contrived at times , is fast moving. I would recommend this book.
