I get why this doesn’t have a lot of good reviews. I was excited for this…… but it disappointed me.
I’m sorry but what the fuck were these names (Ethan was fine) but Jean-luc??? Wtf. No offence to people called that by the way.
The amount of times an ankle was mentioned is insane…… like guys I would be a millionaire!!
And guys as I thought it couldn’t get any worse… the spice was terrible.

Thankyou netgalley for providing me with this ARC in change for my honest opinion!!

Queer awakenings have my whole entire heart, and bestie queer awakenings are particularly fun because all of the close family members always say “I knew it!” Adorable. There wasn’t a ton of hockey in this book but it did clearly permeate their lives so I wasn’t upset by that decision.

I do hate the way the besties (especially Ethan) became single, but there had to be a catalyst to get them to open their eyes to each other. I also love the “I used to do *insert queer sex act and what do you mean you didn’t also do that?!” trope that queer awakenings sometimes have and this one did not disappoint.

Oooh, the side characters were just as strong as the hockey D-man duo! The grandmas, in particular, gave me the heartiest of guffaws. They were so invested and hi-key shady it was hilarious. Ethan and Jean-Luc needed that though, because wow were they basically in a relationship already lol. So cute, so clueless.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest review. 4.25 stars; the steam was steaming and I love an open door romance.

I enjoyed reading this debut novel very much. I love bi-awakening stories and best-friends-to-lovers so this one hit on two of my favorite tropes (it also has only one bed). Ethan and Jean-Luc are good together and the steam factor is very nice.

I loved the setting for this book; the descriptive writing reminded me of my trip to Hawaii that happened nearly ten years ago. I was intrigued by two of the hockey players mentioned in this story. We didn’t really get to meet them but I hope they eventually get a book.

A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.

Ethan’s engagement falls apart in the middle of his wedding, leaving him lost and dealing with an array of emotions.

Having already paid for an incredible honeymoon in Hawaii, his best friend Jean-Luc convinces Ethan to go ahead and take the trip. When they get to Hawaii, they discover the honeymoon suite only has one bed, no pull out couch or any other sleeping options.

Through their week together, the two men come to some realizations that take their relationship into to a whole new territory.

This was a decent story. While the two main characters are hockey players, hockey isn’t played in this story. The bi-awakening was a fun addition to the story and their time in Hawaii wasn’t without some tension.

This story contains some light dom/sub content (nothing intense) and I’m still processing how I feel about that. It was something new for me. Overall, a good story but I feel like I was looking for something more with this.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher/author for this copy of this book.

This is a book for all queer hockey romance lovers. I loved the setting, but it took me a while to get into it since it was written in third person.

oh my gosh I loved this one! Ethan gets left at the altar (this whole opening was perfect- witty and you felt like you were there). His best friend, Jean-Luc, decides to go on Ethan's non refundable honeymoon with him. Their friendship takes on new levels as they spend time together. I loved their connection and chemistry. Ethan is pretty clueless, and Jean-Luc agonizes over getting his heart broken. They have to get out of their own way to make it work. I appreciated that the author didn't wrap up their resolution with a perfect bow- that they still have hurdles because of the sport they are in. The honeymoon description and all the events were fun and hilarious. I asolutely enjoyed this new to me author and hope there is more to come in the series!!

It wasn't what I was expecting.  I thought it would be more of a sweet awakening of bisexuality between two best friends and teammates.  The problem was that it was all over the place with trying to be sweet but also not. Editing needed to start on chapter 2. I was confused by the nicknames or lack of them. The ending was boring, and I almost fell asleep. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC.

Thank you booksgosocial and Oslo Fox for allowing me the chance to read this book in return for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. I’m a sucker for friends to lovers, and I love a good hockey romance. The tension and yearning was so good. You could feel Ethan’s struggle with his identity and his heart break.

As a lover of hockey romances, I really enjoyed this book! There was a great mix of cute moments and hilarious dialogue, which kept this as a light read. I loved how Ethan’s insecurities and quirks were explored and how Jean-Luc worked through his feelings around grief. The dual bi realization was also great. I think the pacing was done very well, as was the incorporation of both Quebecois and Swedish phrases. As someone who has Quebecois family, the cursing in French had me laughing.
I’d definitely recommend this as an easy read for someone wanting some spicy scenes mixed in! (I also would love to see what happens with either Connor or Zachie!)

I love a good MM story, throw in hockey and I’m hooked. The story of J-L and Ethan had me gripped from the very beginning. The wedding to the honeymoon, I laughed and was in shock at the same time. Having a Birds Eye view of their discoveries, the build of everything was beautiful.

The interaction with their families warmed my heart, and Connor, oh sweet germaphobe Connor…you should know by now that Ethan doesn’t understand subtlety!!

Overall, spice level is 3.5 and a 4 star read. I wanna know what happens with Zachie now though!!!

This has to be the most hilarious book I’ve ever read and I simply had the best time. The first chapter had me genuinely laughing out loud every few sentences and I love that.
While the book occasionally took on slightly more serious tones as the story developed, it still managed to keep its fun lightheartedness.

Ethan and Jean-Luc were both so enjoyable to follow, their dynamic was pretty interesting to read about, and I could especially relate to Ethan’s obliviousness.

Overall, while this was by no means a literary masterpiece, it was the prefect funny and fast paced read that satisfied the craving for an engaging but not too demanding story, and I will definitely be picking up more of the author’s works in the future.

Ethan has been building up to this wedding for weeks, so when his fiancé's lover objects to the wedding he almost feels relief and goes on his Hawaiian honeymoon with his best friend and ice hockey D-partner Jean-Luc to get away from everything.

Ethan is paranoid and is worried he'll end up lonely, so asks Jean-luc to help him while they are on their romantic Hawaiian honeymoon. They share a kiss (for research purposes) which is earth shattering to them both. Insert bi-awakening for both guys. Can their friendship last, has the kiss ruined their friendship and potentially their NHL partnership or will something else flourish?

I liked the ease of this book. I felt like the pacing was spot on for a shorter book.

There was a lot of miscommunication from both MMCs ("I don't think he is into me", "I don't think he's bi, he's just practicing", "I love him, but he won't be able to handle this, so I can be heartbroken, I'll manage it") which is actually key to this story and how I imagine a bi awakening with a best friend may go. They are both uncertain of the others feelings as it's the first time either have expressed anything other than being best friends. It did drag on just a little though and would have preferred if they'd actually just spoke!

I loved how their families were betting on how long it would take them to get together and discussing their future relationship all while the 2 MMCs were oblivious to the fact.

The unintentionally sub/dom aspect, I thought, was written well and the fact that neither MMC had really noticed this about their relationship (even as friends) was amusing. I didn't however like how Ethan couldn't even decide what to eat without Jean-Luc and having to eat the same dinner for 9 days straight was a bit extreme.

Overall a fun enough read, the 2MMCs were oblivious throughout the book which amused me.

Thank you Oslo Fox, BooksGoSocial and Netgallery for the ARC in return for my honest opinion.

This was such a fun quick little read! I already loved the title and really, you know what you're getting into from that alone. It really read like a cute little Netflix movie. You knew what to expect and when pretty much the entire time but it was a very enjoyable ride. I preordered this book after finishing the ARC.

miscommunication, funny happenings, friends to lovers. It was just a good sweet little read.

Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fantastic read and there was so much about this book I absolutely loved--more than I can list here! The wedding scene, just after Madison's loved appears, is so well described I could 100% visualise every single character. The chaos of all of it was icing on the cake. And only 1 bed?! Yes please.

The way that these absolute buffoons go from idiots to lovers is both subtle and in your face (yes, it's possible) and I love how much I came to care for each of their personal journeys. Between Jean-Luc's resolved grief and Ethan's insecurities but also the way they cared for each other, was superb.

Do not underestimate the feels this book will drag out of you. And all the side characters! This feels like a series in the making. I want to meet Kitten dude and here Zachie's story. And what is going on with Popi?! I want so much more from this world, please :)

I thought this was a really lighthearted and easy read. The pacing was great and the miscommunication about feelings wasn't too extreme. They sorted it out fairly easily. The spice was well done as well. I wish Ethan was able to express himself a little better instead of stuttering a bunch of random words. But I guess that was part of his submissive nature and Jean-Luc obviously had no problem understanding what he meant. This is a great debut book!

Loved the pacing of the book, it progressed at the correct speed. I liked that there was no 3rd act break up. Both Ethan and Jean-Luc are loveable and fun. The challenges they faced were realistic for the setting g and characters. Super easy ready and very lighthearted.

Hockey romances are my bread and butter, so I was excited to give this debut author a try. The concept, while not new, is a fun one with the wedding mishap and honeymoon forced proximity. What was missing for me was a bit more of a backstory on this couple.

Talk about oblivious! Ethan didn’t seem to have any idea whatsoever that he was basically married to Jean-Luc – he simply enjoyed doing whatever his D-man partner told him to do! Jean-Luc was a little aggravating – his flirtatious nature was fine, but he lost it when he thought Ethan was doing the same. The lack of communication between the two of them was comical although occasionally irritating – they both made decisions for each other based on assumptions that would have been so easy to sort out. I wasn’t expecting the sub/dom aspect to things, although it was nicely done and fit with the two characters. This was a fun read, albeit occasionally irritating with the miscommuncation, and I enjoyed it.

I received an ARC from Netgalley.

When Ethan gets left at the alter he takes Jean-Luc, his teammate, with him on his Hawaiian honeymoon where they get mistaken for Mr and Mr. Let the romance begin.

I would have given this a higher rating but the whining from a 6'5" professional hockey player annoyed the hell out of me. Idk what to eat bc he's not here to tell me. Idk what to wear bc he isn't here to tell me. Ugh

I enjoyed this one alot. It felt pretty realistic as to how two bros would react to finally realising their feelings for one another.
There was a pretty big lack of communication but it's kind of a plot point so I can definitely forgive it in this circumstance.
The characters are super loveable, I had a huge soft spot for Ethan he was so cute and naive!
It was just a sweet love story between two best friends and it was a great time.
