I thought this book would be a funny and entertaining romantic comedy set on a Greek island but sadly it didn‘t live up to my expectations. The FMC is a wanna-be influencer and you read about her aspiration on almost every single page which felt kind of annoying. She fells immature and selfish which really made it hard for me to relate to her. Also the wedding is just cause for the FMC to come to Greece and is not really featured a lot in the story Furthermore the story just keeps dragging on in an almost repetitive pattern (yes, we know she can sing and gets send free stuff) and there were times when I couldn‘t wait for the story to end. The story improved a bit in the end even if the ending felt a bit obvious. I liked the setting in Santorini and the descriptions of the various places to see.

The plot of this book was intriguing to me when I read the synopsis, but as I was reading I fear we lost the plot a little bit. I guess I was expecting a little more wedding planning with the main character and her best friend once they got to Greece with some shenanigans that you need to suspend your belief for a silly and somewhat happy time, but it was a smaller part of the book than was expected. I could have misunderstood the synopsis but I did have a pretty good time. This book in one sentence: Summer vibes in Greece where a girl is looking for herself to help her figure out her life.

Mia, our main character. is a women who's life if in shambles after losing her job while also trying to make it big in social media. I did like this side of things because she was very aware that success in social media was rare and she was doing her best and having the time that she could. I did appreciate that she had a good head on her shoulders and thought logically in the book. The environment of the island in Greece was perfect for bringing me into summer and got me ready for vacations coming in the future months. The pacing was fast and the chapters were short and quick. The supporting characters were charming and fun to get to know. The emotional journey that Mia went on throughout the book was subtle but effective, and made sense for her character. There were some parts that did drag a little bit during the time. Do we really need that many descriptions of what the characters ate? Those scenes felt somewhere repetitive and like they were filling the time between during Mia's vacation in Greece. The romance in here was sweet at times, but sometimes felt a little bit rushed which took me out of it a little bit.

Overall, I did come looking for something light, and I got that just not in the way that I was expecting during my time reading. If you are looking for a nice summery read to take with you on a beach vacation, this is the book for you!

Ensure that you have a steaming cup of cocoa, perhaps some complementary mint ice-cream and a box of tissues at hand before you dive into this gorgeous book!

After finishing this book I wanted to book a flight and escape to Santorini! Sometimes the setting of a book can really grab you and make the story so pleasant to read. What I liked about this book besides the setting was just the lightness of the story right when I was looking for something easy to read. Total vacation vibes. The story is one we've heard played out in books and movies, young girl set to be married, it doesn't happen, girl needs to hit reset on her life, she finds herself and maybe even finds love. No matter how many times you see this scenario play out it never gets old. The thought of having your heart broken but getting a second chance is amazing. In this book the main character is going to the place she was suppose to exchange her vows only to support her friend who is getting to say hers. It's painful but as time goes on she realizes she has the opportunity to travel and work on her photography, to meet new and interesting people, and a chance to start over on her own terms.
Not my Greek Wedding is the perfect poolside or vacation read.

I read about 3 chapters and had to DNF instantly. I had really high hopes for this book because the premise of it seemed very interesting; however, the way it is written just ruined the whole thing for me. Also the whole making the fmc try to be a tiktok star was just extremely cringe to me. The vibe that it gives me is booktok books that I will never read and hope others don't read.

am i in Greece? or is this book just giving out the warmth and sunshine all on its own that makes me feel as if i am. i loved this book. Sue and her books are things to cherish. she knows exactly what she is going to do to us readers and my my my has she perfected creating these little gems.
and when a book has this note on it >>> This absolutely gorgeous and unputdownable beach read is perfect for fans of Kate Frost, Mandy Baggot and Holly Martin . Pack your bags and get ready to be swept away to the stunning beaches of Greece<<< you just know there is no way you arent going to love this. because put these two anywhere near a comparison to a book and you dont even have to ask me once whether i want to read this.
the book gives us Mia who is freshly hurt after her engagement ended. but she cant focus on her heartbreak because she has a maid of honour role to fulfil. and this one is taking her to Santorini and her best friends wedding. but this in itself isnt easy because this is the location of the wedding she dreamed of having.
i could almost feel the light breeze and here the Greek sounds around me as i read this book.
but this isnt going to go all picture perfect "grammable" for Mia. and not when even her own feelings are bought into play with the meeting of Mr gorgeous Christos. im glad we saw some growing in Mia, her starting point of what she wanted out of life especially being so young and the need for this influencer stuff was something i thought it might turn me off. that situation is is a growing uncomfortable concern for me. but im so glad that wasnt the focus and actually something Mia found out too. but also its a lesson to a lot of all of how problematic that whole "job" and need is for people.
you could read this on a warm beach or be warmed enough to think you actually are on one.
i loved this book. it lightened my world for even the VERY short time it took for me to read it.

Santorini and a wedding. Mia has been made redundant at her job so she's trying to make it as an influencer. Her friend Sasha's wedding is a chance for her to really give it a try. But then there are the guys. You know that there will be a romance in a Roberts novel and here Mia has a choice to make. You'll have your favorite. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A light beach read.

Not My Greek Wedding is the latest novel from Sue Roberts. It’s the perfect escapist beach read as we join Mia who is heading to Santorini for her friend’s wedding. It’s a tale of friendships, new adventures and love all set against the stunning back drop of the Greek islands. From the descriptions you can almost feel the warmth of the sun, hear the sound of the wave and taste the delicious food. A fabulous beach read that will entertain you. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

The author did a good job establishing who Mia was as a character at the beginning of the book, as well as her ambitions and recent roadblocks in life. That being said, I think there was TOO much emphasis on Mia being an influencer. It made her character feel incredibly shallow a lot of the time and the multiple mentions of her taking photos or posting content did become tiring. I also think she was really judgemental of others. Her opinion on Lulu’s children being needy felt irritating and hypocritical as Mia is in her late 20s and living at home with her parents pursuing a career as an influencer. Mia was also judgemental towards Christos while simultaneously lusting after him for his looks and money. While she does change her outlooks on life by the end of the book, this character development felt rather sudden. It was like she met Andreas and had an epiphany. I wish this was a subtle development that she had throughout the entire trip, rather than the last 2-3 days.

Regarding the side characters, I thought that Irene and Patsy were hilarious and they really made so many of the scenes for me. Their dialogue was witty and felt natural, I could genuinely see them being friends/cousins. I thought Andreas’ character was also really refreshing in this story, and we get a great amount of depth to his story as well. I really wish he was introduced earlier because I just don’t think we had enough time with him.

The ending was very sweet and I think it gives the reader enough to be satisfied. I do think that it would be helpful to show the time jump of about a month. The timeline in general was a bit confusing at times. For example, Mia tells Andreas that she is there for couple more days, but is still in Greece about 4 days later.

The author did a really great job describing the setting of each scene and I really could picture Greece as Mia described. The biggest thing I have to note regarding the writing is that there is not enough dialogue throughout the story. The reader is told information that could easily be shown through dialogue between the main character and another character, for example names and relationships between characters. Another example is when Christos is talking to Mia at the club, there’s no dialogue here and the reader is just told it happened. This would have been a great time to somewhat establish that relationship and Christos’ character more.

There are moments that also end ambiguously, such as Lulu and Mia’s first coffee date in the book, or Mia’s dinner with her parents at the beginning. The conversations are left in limbo and it feels confusing.

My biggest concern about this book is that the description of the book was not at all accurate to the story. It grossly misrepresents what actually happens in the book. Mia is not at all reeling from a breakup with her ex-boyfriend - there is no mention in the book of them being engaged - and she states at one point that she is “happily single”. Additionally, the wedding is such a minor aspect of the plot and zero issues happen on the wedding day that Mia has to fix. She doesn’t even have to give a speech at the wedding as the maid of honour. The wedding also happens within the first 30% of the book. I really wish that more time was spent building up to the wedding, and at the wedding, because it felt like a great moment to show some deeper relationships between all of the characters. Christos is also barely involved in the wedding, and it’s when he is first introduced so we know very little about him. It really felt like the description was written prior to the entire book being completed and nothing was edited after to make it accurate to the completed story.

I think that the idea of this book is cute and would be perfect for a summer read, but I was really disappointed with the misrepresentation in the book summary. There are also edits that I feel could be made to really deepen the relationships between the characters, better the flow of the plot and develop the main characters storyline, but ensuring that the book is accurately presented to potential readers is very important.

Not My Greek Wedding is a feel-good, fun, romcom about a woman named Mia who is on holiday in Santorini at her best friends wedding. Mia has no current employment but does have a mid-size social media presence and is trying to make a career out of it. When she fly’s to her best friends wedding, she sees old friends, makes new friends and possibly some love interests. I really liked Mia’s character - she was unsure of where is was going in life and that can be scary when you are in your late 20’s. I really want to know more about what happens next - I hope it’s a series!
I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet - and it’s hard to say that about a book with out it being boring, and this was not boring. Sue Roberts is great at describing the landscape and feeling of Greece - I want to now take many holidays there! And I also want to read more Sue Roberts!

Genre: Romance
Length: 299 pages

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC of this book. The opinions stated here are solely my own.

Synopsis:
Mia is a 28 year-old aspiring social media influencer who has just been made redundant and is living at home. Her childhood BFF, Tasha, is having a destination wedding in Santorini and Mia could really use this sunny getaway. While participating in all the wedding festivities, Mia meets two very different Greek men, Christos and Andreas. Could one of them be something more than just a holiday romance? And could Mia find more than just love in Santorini?

Opinion:
I thought this was a very cute and quick romance read. I liked Mia as a main character, as well the 'sweet aunties' who made for fun sidekicks on her journey. To be honest, I was looking for a bit more depth of story and some parts of it felt very repetitive in description and writing phrases. I always love a Mediterranean setting though, so all in all I enjoyed this book.

This is a breezy, sun-drenched romantic comedy that delivers exactly what it promises: escapism with sparkle. Set against the postcard-perfect backdrop of Santorini, it is a light-hearted tale brimming with charm, cocktails, and second chances.

The story follows Mia, a jilted influencer still smarting from a broken engagement, as she heads to Greece to be Maid of Honour at her best friend’s wedding. The twist? It’s being held in the very place Mia once dreamed of tying the knot herself. What unfolds is a delightful mix of wedding chaos, self-discovery, and sizzling chemistry—especially with the ever-dreamy local, Christos.

There’s an intoxicating blend of humour and heart, especially in Mia’s growing relationship with her endearing grandmother, whose grounded wisdom offers a nice counterbalance to Mia’s social media–obsessed worldview. It’s about fun, healing, and finding unexpected joy. And in that respect, it shines.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

This book was not good. Mia, the main character, is just awful. She’s an TikTok influencer wannabe and her inner dialogue is just awful. The writing is very amateur and I was bored throughout the book. I was looking forward to reading it but it’s just not good.

Book review of Not My Greek Wedding by Sue Roberts.

First of all, I haven’t ever given a negative book review... until now. I wish I could give a better rating for this book but unfortunately, I can’t. Here’s why:

First thoughts: I thought the book cover was quite cute. It has nice artwork. Unfortunately, that’s the only positive thing I can say about the book.

Blurb: It is quite misleading. The blurb says ‘’Mia is reeling from a breakup with her fiancé.’’ He was her boyfriend, never her fiancé. Then, the blurb makes out that a romance blooms with Christos but is actually more about another guy. The story did not really go according to what the blurb makes out. Disappointing.

Final impressions: The main character Mia is incredibly vain and shallow. She seems to feel the need to keep reminding you in nearly every chapter that she is a ‘’social media influencer’’. I’m sorry but I’m not interested in that type of character in real life, let alone in a main character of a book. Nothing much seems to happen throughout the book either. I was that bored with it that I even had to skip through quite a lot of chapters. Bored, bored, bored. I understand that in books, you sometimes have to use some repetition, but not that much. It was way too repetitive. There were also a lot of typos and grammatical errors. For a book that is soon to be published, you’d think it would be all correct having been checked by proofreaders and editors. I found this incredibly irritating. Do I recommend this book to others? I think you can already tell where I’m going with this, and you’re right. No, I do not recommend reading this book, unless you want to feel irritable.

A sweet book about friendship and believing in yourself. 3.5* enjoyable, good setting and fun characters but could do with a little more descriptive writing and depth/development.

At first glance, this book seemed like a fun beach read. That is until I actually started reading. There were a lot of instances where the book was repetitive, full of filler scenes and unsupportive to the plot. The things that stuck out to me were Mia’s fixation in letting the readers know how she was an influencer in every chapter and the sheer number of visits to the local bars and restaurants. I’m talking breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. That’s basically all that happened throughout the book.

Moreover, the thing that bugged me the most was how inaccurate the description was. Mia is not reeling from her breakup (which happened a year prior) with her boyfriend, not even fiancé, and, until she landed in Santorini, wasn’t even thinking about potentially having her wedding there. Also, her friend’s wedding is just a starting point, not the whole plot, and nothing happened during that needed Mia and Christos’ help to solve. Since Christos came up, the supposed “MMC” was so infuriating and unlikeable in my opinion, I started to wonder if another man would come along.

I also found Mia, in the beginning, quite shallow and I could see how she was living in her own little world, but luckily that changed in the end.

The only things that saved this book were a certain Greek man and the descriptions of the foods and places in Santorini.

All in all, if you are on holiday and want an easy read, this could be an option.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Review: Not My Greek Wedding by Sue Roberts

If you’re craving a sun-soaked escape with cocktails, chaos, and a touch of Greek magic, Not My Greek Wedding is your boarding pass.

Mia, fresh off a broken engagement, lands in Santorini to be Maid of Honour at her best friend’s destination wedding—ironically on the island she once dreamed of marrying on herself. From the very first page, the novel bursts with vibrant energy: whitewashed villas, cascading florals, sandy toes, and plenty of prosecco. You can almost hear the clinking of glasses and smell the salty breeze.

The plot glides effortlessly from heartfelt to hilarious, especially as Mia stumbles through wedding disasters, tangled feelings, and a not-so-subtle flirtation with local Adonis, Christos. While she starts off a little too obsessed with her influencer life—follower counts, freebies, and #ad content overload—Mia eventually begins to reflect, grow, and open herself to something real. Her bond with her quirky, wise grandmother adds genuine warmth and heart to the story, grounding her in something more lasting than likes.

Yes, there are moments where the dialogue feels light and the character arc could go deeper. But honestly? That’s part of the charm. This isn’t a heavy, life-changing read—it’s a glossy, flirty postcard from paradise. Perfect for lounging poolside, cocktail in hand, dreaming of your own summer reboot.

A little messy, a little magical—Not My Greek Wedding is like a fizzy spritz on a hot day: refreshing, pretty, and hard to resist.

I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I have enjoyed most of Sue Roberts's books, but this one was not one of them. Mia, the main character, was vain, shallow, and unlikeable. All the talk about her freebies, being an influencer, and how she saw herself was a bit much.

A nice story. A perfect beach read. Just struggled with the main character. She was an influencer. Set a beautiful Greek island. . Wonderful descriptions of sunsets and food. A nice love element . Some great characters . A neat ending .

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Sue Roberts. Set in the gorgeous place of Santorini, it felt as you was there too with the characters.

Mia is an influencer and loves what she does. She’s invited to the wedding of her best friend in Santorini.

When she gets there, she meets people she knows as well as making new friends.

She also finds interesting things to post so that those that love what she’s posted previously will see that she’s able to show different aspects of what she does.

When she meets a gorgeous hunk will her thoughts change to doing something else other than being an influencer?

I loved the setting and the characters.

I highly recommend this book.
