BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'Not My Greek Wedding' by Sue Roberts.
Awww yet another absolutely fantastically gorgeous and page turning book by the very talented Sue Roberts, Well done!!!!
This book is beautifully written and completely absorbs you in the stunning atmosphere of Greece and really sucks you in with the vivid descriptions leaving you feel the warmth of the the sun and smell of the sea. The synopsis and cover suits the storyline perfectly.
I have absolutely loved each and every one of the amazing Sue's books that I have read so far and this one is no exception!!! Honestly if you are ever in need of a break and fancy the gorgeous Greece then grab any one of Sue's stunners and prepare to be whisked away on a beautiful holiday!!! The storyline is authentic and realistic as well as easy to read and heart-warming. There was plenty of events going on throughout and it kept me hooked from start to end, I read it in one sitting while mainly sitting in the garden with the sun warming my legs at the same time Mia was being warmed by the sun in Greece making it feel like I was there even more than Sue's evocative storytelling did. The storyline was filled with a range of emotions and was ram packed with love, relationships, family, celebrations, friendship and so much more all going on in this beautiful atmosphere. It felt like a lovely break away from Wales!! I loved how the story ended and I would love to read more about the life on the gorgeous Greek island of Santorini . I was absolutely devastated when I came to the end of this book as I was truly whisked away to Greece feeling the sand on my feet and looking at the stunning views. I absolutely loved the gorgeous atmosphere and the stunning escapism. The storyline was so beautiful and it was such an easy and relaxing read with moments of laughter, some tension and sadness but overall happiness. It ended absolutely perfectly and I cannot wait to visit Greece again!! Hint, hint Sue 😉!!!
Yet another absolutely gorgeous book!! I cannot wait to go on my next Greek adventure with the very talented Sue Roberts. Clear your schedules, grab a cocktail and escape to Santorini!
I must admit that I was not a fan of Mia and did find her to be very shallow at times, it probably was not helped by the fact that I am not a fan of TikTok after the way some of its users exploited authors but I just really did not click with her. However, I was surprised by the fact that although I was not a fan of the main protagonist I still absolutely loved the book!! Usually when I struggle to connect with the min character of a story I have a hard time enjoying the book but Sue's brilliant writing skills ensured that although you may not like a character it does not mean that you will not love the story!! The characters were all unique with their own realistic traits, strengths and weaknesses. It was intriguing to watch friendships grow, develop and change throughout the the storyline. Sue's amazing evocative writing skills brought them to life as much as possible and they all leapt out of the pages as well as the stunning atmosphere. Anyway, I best not say anymore as don't want to give anything else away for future readers!! It's just so easy talking about this fantastic book and so much I want to tell you all about but I really need to control myself!!! Needless to say, regardless of what I thought of Mia, all of the characters worked perfectly with the storyline and I would love to meet most of them again and cannot wait to get stuck into more books by this brilliant author!!
Well done Sue on yet another absolutely gorgeous book!!! I will definitely be looking for your books any time I need to be swept off to another country!!! This is exactly why when I am looking for a romance your books are what I look for and your one of my favourite authors.
Overall an absolutely perfect light hearted, stunning unputdownable romance that will sweep you off your feet and land you in Greece.

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for British author Sue Roberts' latest book Not My Greek Wedding. Firstly, how lovely is that cover! Takes me straight to Greece before I have even opened the book!
When Mia is invited to her friend Tasha's destination wedding in Santorini, she is glad that it comes with the offer of paid accommodation. She takes her work friend Lulu as her plus one, seeing it as Lulu's chance to live a little and look out for herself rather than always focussing on her almost adult children, who do seem to be taking advantage of her at times. There she meets Tasha's lovely aunts, Irene and Patsy, who were a lot of fun and very relatable to me, as well as a few of the other guests!
Mia is a wannabe social media influencer. She has a pretty big following now but she isn't quite there in terms of the big time. She gets invited to some local special events at home, and takes every opportunity to make her life look a little more glamourous than it might actually be. The reality is that she has just lost her job working in a call centre and she lives at home with her parents.
The blurb is a bit misleading and feels like maybe the book changed after the blurb was written. It makes it sound as though Mia was going to end up with Christos. I was reading the book and thinking how on earth is this going to work as he is not the kind of guy you would think would be part of a happily ever after scenario. And maybe, without Mia realising that there are other opportunities for her, she might have ended up with Christos for a brief holiday romance or perhaps a bit longer. Fortunately, Mia began to see that she could be more and do more and do better when it came to gorgeous Greek men.
That might sound a bit dismissive but I don't really mean it to. Mia seems to be a genuinely caring person who looks out for her friends like Lulu and to a certain extend Tasha (she did spend a lot of the book off the page), who build relationships with people she cares about like Tasha's aunts, and who isn't brash about her own talents, although she could probably be more confident in her own abilities such as her singing.
The actual MMC doesn't even appear until nearly half way through the book. Fortunately, he was much better than Christos and I guessed their connection pretty easily. I did like how Andreas saw that there was more to Mia than just her good looks!
I think the idea of exploring social media was a good one. It gave Mia reason to visit some amazing places on the island and eat some amazing sounding food, and I was glad to be an armchair traveller with her! It was, however, a bit repetitive at times, especially at the beginning of the book with so many mentions of needing to upload content and how many likes she had received. If I received 1000 likes on a post I would be wondering what on earth happened! LOL.
This was a mixed bag for me. There were things I liked a lot, and other things I did not enjoy as much, but in terms of taking me away from a cold Melbourne winter, it took me to the warm blue waters of Santorini.
I am sharing this review with the New Release Challenge hosted at The Chocolate Lady's Book Reviews. Be sure to check out other stops on the tour shown below. Thanks to the publisher, Netgalley and Bookouture Books-On-Tour for the review copy.
Rating 3/5

Having recently attended friends weddings in Greece and with another one to come this year, I was super excited to receive this book as an ARC copy from NetGalley.
A heartfelt, funny story full of new beginnings.
An enjoyable holiday read - easy to get into and not too long

Mia, 28, has just received an invitation for her friend, Tasha’s wedding. Mia is to be the Maid of Honor and the wedding will be held on the beautiful Greek island of Santorini. She is thrilled. Lulu is a friend of Mia’s and is going as her plus one for the wedding as Mia recently broke up with her long time boyfriend.
Mia recently lost her job as the company is downsizing. So, while she looks for another job, she is relying on her efforts as a TikTok and Instagram Influencer. She has a good amount of followers and has received some freebies along the way when she gives good reviews on them.
Upon arrival, the guests are being housed in some apartments not far from where the wedding will be held. The apartments have been offered free for the guests. The wedding goes off well and all the guests enjoy themselves.
Mia and Lulu enjoy the sights and the food. Along with them are two other relatives of Mia’s and they all have lots of adventures. Mia is charmed by two Greek men that turn out to be brothers. However, they could not be more different. Mia’s talent of being a good singer finds her basking in the fun as people loved her on Karaoke nights,
This is a sweet book that shares the beauty of Santorini and the delicious food it has to offer. I enjoyed the camaraderie of Mia and her friends as they all experienced their adventures. It was nice to learn more about the island as I have only visited it briefly during a cruise. A lovely story. Enjoy!
Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

First off, let's start with what I liked - this was a very summery book with a lovely setting and a sweet story. The characters were decent enough, with Patsy and Irene being my absolute favourites with their banter and their funny older lady vibes. I also enjoyed the small twist in the plot about half way / two-thirds of the way through.
Now, on to what caused the 2 star rating... The main issue for me was the writing style. It all felt too polite and quite stilted at times. I struggled to get past the fact that it didn't seem to have a natural flow to it, the descriptions were full of unnecessary exposition that tripped me up in several places.
I also struggled with the chemistry, or lackthereof, between the main characters. The author wrote about the chemistry itself quite a lot, which only served to draw my attention to the fact that I wasn't really feeling any in the pages. The same thing happened with the main character's focus on her social media - it definitely felt like it was written from research rather than from personal experience.
All in all, it was sweet but there were too many elements of it that felt forced to me that prevented me from fully enjoying it.

A book set in Greece, sign me up please! Sue does a fantastic job making it feel like I’m right there on the beaches of Greece. I love the descriptions of the Greek dancing (one of my favorite parts of my culture) and all the Greek food.
Mia’s life has had a lot of downs lately, but a trip to her childhood best friend’s destination wedding could make all the difference. Is a wedding fling exactly what she needs?
I will definitely be picking up more of Sue’s books, especially if she sets them in Greece again.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of this book.

Not My Greek Wedding was an okay read for me. I couldn’t like or care about the main character, Mia, as she came across as a one-dimensional character more focused on her online persona and all the freebies she’s getting (or hopes to) by being an influencer.
I’m not going to nitpick over the story. I’ll simply say that, unfortunately, this one wasn’t for me, although I’m sure there is an audience that would enjoy it.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley, and I sincerely thank the author or publishing house for their trust. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

A deliciously evocative, sun-drenched, cocktail filled gentle romance.
Mia is at a loose end on the employment front. Recently made redundant she's trying to make something of her tiktok sideline rather than take up another dead-end job that isn't what she wants. She's always had an idea that she'd be "famous" for something but never seems to invest enough time into her singing or her social media to make that leap to fame.
Her best-friends destination wedding in Santorini opens up an opportunity to get some sunshine, some new b-roll footage and reviews for her tiktok. She shanghaies her friend and former colleague to come as her plus one and they set off for a sunshine break. On their arrival they soon find themselves scooped up into the friendly arms of new friends and old. And a handsome Greek man may be another slice of happiness that's opening to her.
Mia and the gang are a hoot and they lurch from disaster to heartfelt moments. The descriptions of Santorini are so evocative and you can't help but feel you are right there with them. I must admit Mia took a while for me to warm up to, she just came over as so shallow at first. But as the story develops we see more of her rise to the surface. I loved the way she stuck to her guns and wasn't just bowled over by attention from a rich playboy and kept herself open to other friendships.

The premise of this book had me excited. Mia is newly single and off to Santorini where she will be bridesmaid at her best friend's wedding. The book looked to be a great beach read for my holiday in Greece, but sadly I found the story to be painfully slow, quite repetitive and not very interesting either.
I tried to be invested in the characters, but didn’t find them very engaging or interesting and despite multiple tries to get reading, I didn’t make it past the half way point of the book.
I’ve loved previous Sue Roberts books so I was sad this one didn’t hit the spot for me.

⭐️
First of all I’d like to thank the publisher and net!galley for granting me a free e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
Happy release day!!
Today June 19th Not My Greek Wedding gets published, enjoy it!
I was honestly so excited for this book.
A cute wedding set up in Greece, but I couldn’t get into the story.
In my honest opinion, I feel like there was no depth to the characters or the plot.
The FMC (Mia) goes from one Greek boy to the next in like 2seconds in her head, but nothing ever really happens.
Then there is her friend Lulu, a (I think) single mom who comes with her to her best friend’s wedding. But all she ever does is complain en moan about her daughter who is a teen/adult at home.
Like okey I get it you’re a mom, but girl YOUR IN GREECE ENJOY IT!
Also what was up with Christos? I didn’t like him one bit.
I’m really sad this book wasn’t for me. I was looking for a little more depth and plot twists. I needed a bit more adventure to it I guess.
I did like Irene and Patsy’s vibe though!
I hope if you decide to read this book you will love every second of it!

Mia is trying to make it a social influencer but she also has a set of pipes that she isn’t utilizing.
She travels to Greece for a friend’s wedding and explores new opportunities.
I loved all the beautiful descriptions of the shops, beaches, and sunsets!
I always want to jump into Roberts’ scrumptious covers!
Two things I can always count on in her books: a handsome man and a gorgeous backdrop.
I do wonder if she has poster size pictures of all of her covers??

I thought this book would be a funny and entertaining romantic comedy set on a Greek island but sadly it didn‘t live up to my expectations. The FMC is a wanna-be influencer and you read about her aspiration on almost every single page which felt kind of annoying. She fells immature and selfish which really made it hard for me to relate to her. Also the wedding is just cause for the FMC to come to Greece and is not really featured a lot in the story Furthermore the story just keeps dragging on in an almost repetitive pattern (yes, we know she can sing and gets send free stuff) and there were times when I couldn‘t wait for the story to end. The story improved a bit in the end even if the ending felt a bit obvious. I liked the setting in Santorini and the descriptions of the various places to see.

The plot of this book was intriguing to me when I read the synopsis, but as I was reading I fear we lost the plot a little bit. I guess I was expecting a little more wedding planning with the main character and her best friend once they got to Greece with some shenanigans that you need to suspend your belief for a silly and somewhat happy time, but it was a smaller part of the book than was expected. I could have misunderstood the synopsis but I did have a pretty good time. This book in one sentence: Summer vibes in Greece where a girl is looking for herself to help her figure out her life.
Mia, our main character. is a women who's life if in shambles after losing her job while also trying to make it big in social media. I did like this side of things because she was very aware that success in social media was rare and she was doing her best and having the time that she could. I did appreciate that she had a good head on her shoulders and thought logically in the book. The environment of the island in Greece was perfect for bringing me into summer and got me ready for vacations coming in the future months. The pacing was fast and the chapters were short and quick. The supporting characters were charming and fun to get to know. The emotional journey that Mia went on throughout the book was subtle but effective, and made sense for her character. There were some parts that did drag a little bit during the time. Do we really need that many descriptions of what the characters ate? Those scenes felt somewhere repetitive and like they were filling the time between during Mia's vacation in Greece. The romance in here was sweet at times, but sometimes felt a little bit rushed which took me out of it a little bit.
Overall, I did come looking for something light, and I got that just not in the way that I was expecting during my time reading. If you are looking for a nice summery read to take with you on a beach vacation, this is the book for you!

Ensure that you have a steaming cup of cocoa, perhaps some complementary mint ice-cream and a box of tissues at hand before you dive into this gorgeous book!

After finishing this book I wanted to book a flight and escape to Santorini! Sometimes the setting of a book can really grab you and make the story so pleasant to read. What I liked about this book besides the setting was just the lightness of the story right when I was looking for something easy to read. Total vacation vibes. The story is one we've heard played out in books and movies, young girl set to be married, it doesn't happen, girl needs to hit reset on her life, she finds herself and maybe even finds love. No matter how many times you see this scenario play out it never gets old. The thought of having your heart broken but getting a second chance is amazing. In this book the main character is going to the place she was suppose to exchange her vows only to support her friend who is getting to say hers. It's painful but as time goes on she realizes she has the opportunity to travel and work on her photography, to meet new and interesting people, and a chance to start over on her own terms.
Not my Greek Wedding is the perfect poolside or vacation read.

I read about 3 chapters and had to DNF instantly. I had really high hopes for this book because the premise of it seemed very interesting; however, the way it is written just ruined the whole thing for me. Also the whole making the fmc try to be a tiktok star was just extremely cringe to me. The vibe that it gives me is booktok books that I will never read and hope others don't read.

am i in Greece? or is this book just giving out the warmth and sunshine all on its own that makes me feel as if i am. i loved this book. Sue and her books are things to cherish. she knows exactly what she is going to do to us readers and my my my has she perfected creating these little gems.
and when a book has this note on it >>> This absolutely gorgeous and unputdownable beach read is perfect for fans of Kate Frost, Mandy Baggot and Holly Martin . Pack your bags and get ready to be swept away to the stunning beaches of Greece<<< you just know there is no way you arent going to love this. because put these two anywhere near a comparison to a book and you dont even have to ask me once whether i want to read this.
the book gives us Mia who is freshly hurt after her engagement ended. but she cant focus on her heartbreak because she has a maid of honour role to fulfil. and this one is taking her to Santorini and her best friends wedding. but this in itself isnt easy because this is the location of the wedding she dreamed of having.
i could almost feel the light breeze and here the Greek sounds around me as i read this book.
but this isnt going to go all picture perfect "grammable" for Mia. and not when even her own feelings are bought into play with the meeting of Mr gorgeous Christos. im glad we saw some growing in Mia, her starting point of what she wanted out of life especially being so young and the need for this influencer stuff was something i thought it might turn me off. that situation is is a growing uncomfortable concern for me. but im so glad that wasnt the focus and actually something Mia found out too. but also its a lesson to a lot of all of how problematic that whole "job" and need is for people.
you could read this on a warm beach or be warmed enough to think you actually are on one.
i loved this book. it lightened my world for even the VERY short time it took for me to read it.

Santorini and a wedding. Mia has been made redundant at her job so she's trying to make it as an influencer. Her friend Sasha's wedding is a chance for her to really give it a try. But then there are the guys. You know that there will be a romance in a Roberts novel and here Mia has a choice to make. You'll have your favorite. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A light beach read.

Not My Greek Wedding is the latest novel from Sue Roberts. It’s the perfect escapist beach read as we join Mia who is heading to Santorini for her friend’s wedding. It’s a tale of friendships, new adventures and love all set against the stunning back drop of the Greek islands. From the descriptions you can almost feel the warmth of the sun, hear the sound of the wave and taste the delicious food. A fabulous beach read that will entertain you. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

The author did a good job establishing who Mia was as a character at the beginning of the book, as well as her ambitions and recent roadblocks in life. That being said, I think there was TOO much emphasis on Mia being an influencer. It made her character feel incredibly shallow a lot of the time and the multiple mentions of her taking photos or posting content did become tiring. I also think she was really judgemental of others. Her opinion on Lulu’s children being needy felt irritating and hypocritical as Mia is in her late 20s and living at home with her parents pursuing a career as an influencer. Mia was also judgemental towards Christos while simultaneously lusting after him for his looks and money. While she does change her outlooks on life by the end of the book, this character development felt rather sudden. It was like she met Andreas and had an epiphany. I wish this was a subtle development that she had throughout the entire trip, rather than the last 2-3 days.
Regarding the side characters, I thought that Irene and Patsy were hilarious and they really made so many of the scenes for me. Their dialogue was witty and felt natural, I could genuinely see them being friends/cousins. I thought Andreas’ character was also really refreshing in this story, and we get a great amount of depth to his story as well. I really wish he was introduced earlier because I just don’t think we had enough time with him.
The ending was very sweet and I think it gives the reader enough to be satisfied. I do think that it would be helpful to show the time jump of about a month. The timeline in general was a bit confusing at times. For example, Mia tells Andreas that she is there for couple more days, but is still in Greece about 4 days later.
The author did a really great job describing the setting of each scene and I really could picture Greece as Mia described. The biggest thing I have to note regarding the writing is that there is not enough dialogue throughout the story. The reader is told information that could easily be shown through dialogue between the main character and another character, for example names and relationships between characters. Another example is when Christos is talking to Mia at the club, there’s no dialogue here and the reader is just told it happened. This would have been a great time to somewhat establish that relationship and Christos’ character more.
There are moments that also end ambiguously, such as Lulu and Mia’s first coffee date in the book, or Mia’s dinner with her parents at the beginning. The conversations are left in limbo and it feels confusing.
My biggest concern about this book is that the description of the book was not at all accurate to the story. It grossly misrepresents what actually happens in the book. Mia is not at all reeling from a breakup with her ex-boyfriend - there is no mention in the book of them being engaged - and she states at one point that she is “happily single”. Additionally, the wedding is such a minor aspect of the plot and zero issues happen on the wedding day that Mia has to fix. She doesn’t even have to give a speech at the wedding as the maid of honour. The wedding also happens within the first 30% of the book. I really wish that more time was spent building up to the wedding, and at the wedding, because it felt like a great moment to show some deeper relationships between all of the characters. Christos is also barely involved in the wedding, and it’s when he is first introduced so we know very little about him. It really felt like the description was written prior to the entire book being completed and nothing was edited after to make it accurate to the completed story.
I think that the idea of this book is cute and would be perfect for a summer read, but I was really disappointed with the misrepresentation in the book summary. There are also edits that I feel could be made to really deepen the relationships between the characters, better the flow of the plot and develop the main characters storyline, but ensuring that the book is accurately presented to potential readers is very important.
