Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. Despite it being mostly entirely implausible, I loved this book. It was gripping from the off, tension oozed from the pages, and I was completely invested in the characters and their stories. I adored the relationship between Elsie and Wyngate, and the 1940s London setting was captured vividly. Heartwarming, entertaining, and emotional, this book was fantastic.

WWII in London where the children have lost their family. It is heartbreaking. A must read. I was given an ARC to read and post my review. These are my own words.

A lighthearted compelling WW2 novel
The runaway evacuees book one.
St Mary's Orphanage London is bombed out, and this brother and sister Elsie and jack flee away from evil nun sister Benedict.
With Elsie missing the whole community and the blitz kids all pull together.
I loved reading the kids journey after Jack and Elsie loosing their mother is there hope of finding out their father away fighting is still alive.
A truly inspirational story of friendship and hardship all rolled into one story.
Its beautiful and look forward to more in the series.

A compelling, fast-paced WWII historical fiction with strong characters and a gripping storyline.
I loved the sibling bond between Jack and Elsie—it was the heart of the book. The setting was vivid, and the idea of a group of kids navigating wartime London on their own felt fresh and kept me turning pages. There’s suspense, found family, and just the right amount of hope.
If you enjoy stories with young protagonists, high stakes, and a historical backdrop, The Lost Orphans is a great pick.

An interesting WWII adventure starring a group of homeless kids who call themselves The Blitz Kids, a French singer, and a mysterious government agent with a heart of gold.
