Yet another enjoyable read from Leigh Russell.. Always found his books to be strong in storyline and can capture the imagination.

Part of a series featuring a familiar cast of detectives. Slightly disappointed ,didn't feel this was up to the usual standard.

This is the first book I have read from this author and did not realise it was apart of a series. . I found that I would have liked more of the backstory.. There were plenty of twists in the storyline to keep me reading. I would definitely read the next offering. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it

Another great addition to the DI Geraldine Steel crime series. A colleague is hiding something but what? Ca Geraldine help her? Will the colleague in question talk about it?. When two women are murdered it looks like the prime suspect is their boyfriend as he has known to be violent . But it's not that simple or is it?
Great police procedural can't wait for the next one, what's next for DI Geraldine Steel????

A fine addition to the Geraldine Steel series. Lisa, Geraldine's childminder asks her for help and Grealdine does not follow up, then Lisa's niece is murdered and Geraldine feels guilty as she investigates the Killing. Plenty of twist and turns in this gripping thriller. You also see more of Geraldine's private life. I could not put this book down. Thanks to Bedford Square Publshers and Netgalley for this review ARC.

When Alice Lewis is found murdered, the case becomes personal for DI Steel, as Alice was the niece of her childminder, Lisa. Despite Lisa’s earlier pleas for help, Geraldine hadn’t acted in time to save Alice. Now, driven by guilt and a thirst for justice, Geraldine dives headfirst into the case. But the deeper she digs, the more layers of secrets and lies she uncovers about Alice's life, forcing her to question everything she thought she knew. With an elusive killer watching her every move, Geraldine finds herself caught in a dangerous game of cat and mouse! Great read! This book had fantastic suspense, murder, mystery, intriguing, and some crazy twists and turns! The story was very interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Another great read featuring Geraldine Steel. I enjoyed the dark, twisty plot as Geraldine races against the clock to hunt down the killer. We are also treated to details of Geraldine's home life as she balances work with motherhood. A worthy addition to the series.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really like this series featuring DI Geraldine Steel. It's easy to read with good characterisation. Geraldine is investigating the disappearance of a young woman, whilst juggling motherhood and home life. There are some nice twists and a couple of red herrings, with a nice twist at the end. More cosy crime than dark thriller but it is a good addition to the series which I am sure readers will enjoy. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I love this series and Leigh Russell's writing style. Geraldine Steel is a fascinating and complex character and it's great to see her juggling motherhood with her career. Having said all that, something felt a bit off with this one and there wasn't the same sense of urgency and suspense as usual. It was still a great story, where the childminder's niece was in danger because of domestic violence, then killed before any investigation could begin. There are some good twists and an interesting ending. Look forward to the next one.

I’d like to thank Bedford Square Publishers and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Cold Justice’, the latest in the DI Geraldine Steel series written by Leigh Russell, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

DI Geraldine Steel’s childminder asks for help as she believes her niece Alice James is being abused by her boyfriend but before Geraldine can do anything Alice’s body is discovered stabbed and left in undergrowth. The killer plans to dispose of weapon called The Knife before the police find it, but needs to use it one more time!

‘Cold Justice’ is a well-written thriller featuring DI Geraldine Steel who together with her DS colleagues Ariadne and Naomi struggle to find a connection between the victims and later the killer. When the issues of domestic abuse and self-harming are mentioned they’re handled thoughtfully and with compassion. I’ve enjoyed reading more of Geraldine’s partner Ian and their toddler son Tom and how they deal with childcare while having exhausting jobs. It’s a novel that’s easy to read and has a sound straightforward plot but I don’t think it’s as exciting as some of the previous books in the series although it does end with a surprising and unexpected twist.

A good and easy to read style which means you can cover quite a lot of ground in a short time. The characters are easy to follow and keep track of so you can equally read a few chapters, leave it and easily slide back into where you left off. Despite some difficult and sensitive topics being covered, notably domestic abuse and self harm, the book still feels suitably cushioned and cosy crime esque and despite the violence portrayed it never made me feel deeply uncomfortable or scared. A good safe read for those who want some gentle twists, a dash of gore (but not too much) and some well rounded characters. The only bit I personally didn’t like was a scattering of rarely used words, a little like the author had overused a dictionary or was trying to educate us which I found a bit patronising or creative writing group in style. Not really necessary and detracted rather than added to the experience. Overall not a bad read, however and probably a 3.5 star rating from me.

Geraldine Steel is feeling very guilty indeed.

Her childminder's niece has been murdered. Her childminder had asked for help, but Geraldine hadn't acted upon the request.

As the case progresses, Geraldine begins to question everything she thought she knew...

Another great addition to this series

Such a page turner that I read it in one sitting. Both the characters and story are excellent and would highly recommend this novel for anyone who enjoys crime fiction.
