This book was hilarious and very engaging to read. The characters were great, and their interactions were so much fun to read.

I love an unhinged female character and Fran was exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t know what to expect with this story but was pleasantly surprised. This had murder, intriguing relationships, fraud (my AFC loving heart was here for this!), trauma, and some humor. I love a book that can have you rooting for the murder and this story delivered exactly that. I look forward to reading more from this author!

I wanted to love this book so badly because the description had me sold. What's not to love about a serial killing wife and policeman husband?
Unfortunately, this book just didn't hit the mark for me. It felt like it tried to combine humor and dark themes, but, for me, it just didn't work.
I think the major problem I had was that I really didn't like any of the characters. Garreth just made me angry/disappointed, and Fran, although I wanted to root for her she just made it so hard to like her.
I did enjoy the overall plot enough to want to finish the book and see how it ends, but even the ending was a bit lack luster for me. Its not a bad book, and I think for a lot of people, they would enjoy it. For me, it just felt like it was missing something. I wasn't on the edge of my seat wondering what happened next, and I wasn't truly invested in any of the characters.

I really liked this book; it didn't have the story line I thought it would. That is a good thing. I did think that she was going to kill her husband at some point, but the ending of the book truly threw me off. To me it sounded like hoe things really happened and maybe that they both are killers together. I could have interpreted this wrong. I really liked the book, chapters were a little bit long, but there was enough in the chapter to keep me going, it wasn't drawn out.

This was such a sharp and clever thriller! H.J. Garbett takes a wild premise, a man realizing his wife might not be who she seems, and spins it into a fast, addictive read. From the start, the tension is tight, and I couldn’t stop turning the pages just to see how far things would go.
What I liked most is the balance: it’s dark without being heavy, twisted yet still witty in places. The voice feels modern and fresh, and the pacing keeps you hooked without dragging. It plays with the “domestic thriller” vibe but adds a more sinister, almost playful edge that makes it stand out.
Why not five stars? For me, some of the reveals felt a bit too quick, I wanted a little more depth and messiness in the characters’ psychology. But that didn’t stop me from enjoying it.

The book was hard to follow. The writing style is that of British English (phrases, humor). The plot was there but not something I found to fit with the motives of the FMC.
The book took more time than I usually take to read as it just couldn’t keep my interest and I had to reread many lines to understand what was going on.
I received this book as an advanced reader copy and I am leaving a review voluntarily.

This was just ok for me. I was excited to read it but when I did it just didn't meet the expectations I was hoping for. Overall it was an ok read.

I won’t lie, this book took me a bit to read. I found myself starting, stopping by, restarting, stopping , and restarting again. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just very hard to stick with the storyline at times. 3.5 stars
My Wife, The Serial Killer delivers an unusual mix of suspense, dark humor, and unlikely romance. The premise alone had me hooked, and I genuinely enjoyed the tension and unpredictability that ran through the story. Fran and Gareth are fascinating, flawed, morally gray, and oddly endearing, and I found myself rooting for them to finally be honest with each other.
That said, the pacing lagged in places, and the lack of a clear motive behind the murders left me wanting a bit more depth to the “why” of it all. Still, the unique dynamic between Fran and Gareth and the strange, almost sweet undercurrent to their relationship made this a memorable read. Even Angus lured me in with his quirkiness.
If you like suspense with a twist of dark humor and a couple you shouldn’t root for but do anyway, this one’s worth picking up.
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for access to the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book was good but did not have the thrilling aspect I wanted to it. Liked the story a lot so I would recommend for a quick read!

Killer Marriage..
Edgy, dark and mysterious- this is a tale of a (serial ) killer marriage which keeps the reader on their toes with a pacy narrative, well formed eccentric and eclectic characters and with a nifty dialogue heavily laced with a dark humour. Chaotic in the best way.

Gareth and Fran are a couple with a lot of secrets between them. Fran is a murderer while Gareth is a detective who ends up manning the investigation for Fran’s most recent killing. She doesn’t kill at random, each has had a reason related to her past that we eventually get to learn.
I don’t know that I loved either Gareth or Fran that much but did have a soft spot for Angus and all the animals. The ending also was a little vague whereas I would have preferred they just finished it out and told us exactly what happened.
Still recommend if you like dark comedy!

-- ‘Yes, if it came to it, yes, I would, of course,’ I said as quietly as I could, while trying to hide my irritation with her. I didn’t think there was the slightest possibility of it ever seeming likely that Fran had killed Mr O’Neill; that the loving wife I had been with for a quarter of my life had murdered this old man in cold blood.--
The way I was so excited to get this ARC. Not only are the title and plot so up my alley, but the cover is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
I was so invested in the potential cat and mouse chase plot, and while that didn’t seem to start till a good chunk of the way in, I wasn’t mad. I loved that we got to meet and learn about Fran and Gareth in their own POVs. I absolutely adored them as a couple and seeing their married moments from fertility issues to Fran dealing with Gareth’s coworkers over her lasagne (which I would do the same for my man, to be honest). Their marriage was definitely a highlight in the book for me.
And while reading this book, I genuinely didn’t know who to root for nor could I really predict how it would all end. I wanted Fran to get away with it yet I wanted Gareth to solve it. (But, my god, the final half or so of the book kept me on the edge of my seat! Gareth’s character development was top notch.)
I’d also die for Mep.
Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC!

My Wife, the Serial Killer was an entertaining thriller, full of suspense, drama, humour and revenge. I was hooked from the first chapter, I just couldn't put it down.
I love a good serial killer revenge thriller and My Wife, the Serial Killer, definitely hit the mark for me.
I loved Fran and Gareth. They were both interesting, charismatic, and complex characters.
This is the first book I've read from H.J. Garbett, and it definitely won't be the last. I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.
I highly recommend.
4 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley, Storm Publishing, and H.J. Garbett for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The first half of this book was very slow but I'm glad I stuck around as the second half was just amazing and I then couldn't put the book down. I will say the end was a little bit disappointing as you don't get all the answers you need but other than that it was enjoyable.

I think the characters themselves were what bothered me into not giving this a 4, Gareth was such a dweeb and Fran was annoying. That being said I enjoyed how the plot was laid out, despite the sacrifice of poor Angus :(

My Wife, The Serial Killer started out strong. I was interested in the premise and the writing is solid. It was a quick enough read that I kept with it even though I found it a bit frustrating. The book plays fast and loose with the term serial killer.
I didn't love either MC. That made getting into the book a bit harder than expected. Fran was full of herself though she had no reason to be. Her husband felt like he needed a bit more depth. I wanted to know more about the brother as well.
I did see the end coming.
Overall, this was well written and good for someone venturing into light crime / domestic thrillers.

Fran and Gareth were a duo of extremely odd main characters. I could not ever expect what they would do next or fully feel like I understood. I wish we got a little more Angus, he was intriguing. I was about 80% done with the book and confused what could happen next because everything seemed wrapped up. WRONGOOOO. This was a solid little domestic/legalish thriller that kept me entertained. I liked how we learned bits and pieces of the motive along the way rather than all at once. The ending was better than anything I could have come up with. 3.25 from me! Everyone loves a good revenge plot

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I really enjoyed this book, I enjoy dual POV’s. While this was a mystery there was quite a bit of humor and I really enjoyed the writing style. It was obvious Fran really hated the neighbor but it was humorous how she handled the situation and her thoughts. I also really liked Gareth and thought his monologue was funny and entertaining as well. Definitely would read another book by this author!

My Wife, The Serial Killer has a fantastic premise that instantly caught my attention — it’s dark, intriguing, and had all the ingredients for a gripping psychological thriller. The opening hooked me right away, and I enjoyed the morally murky territory the story explored.
The pacing was decent, and the author kept me curious enough to keep turning pages. I also appreciated the way the tension slowly built as more layers of the characters’ secrets came to light.
That said, I didn’t fully connect with the characters, which made it harder for me to become truly invested in the outcome. Some twists felt a little predictable, and the ending left me wanting more depth or resolution.
Overall, this was a solid, entertaining read — just not one that completely blew me away. I’d recommend it to readers who enjoy domestic thrillers with a slightly offbeat, darkly humorous edge.

I was initially very excited for this book although it had many similarities to a slew of other mystery/thrillers that I have read in the past- which, in turn, took away from my overall enjoyment of the book as a whole.
The characters were well written but seemed familiar trope wise and I just found it hard to focus on it due to this mitigating factor.
Thankyou to Net galley and Storm Publishing for an early arc of this book.
