My Wife, The Serial Killer by H. J. Garbett is a mystery/thriller book. She's on her way to becoming a serial killer while her husband is a detective. The title and the premise of the book intrigued me and I couldn't wait to get to it. It was an interesting read and full of dark humour, but it wasn't as gripping as I expected; it was a little slow. The twists at the end wasn't bad though. A good read overall
I got the complimentary copy of this book from Storm Publishing via Netgalley. This is my honest review

Who would have thought a police detective married to a serial killer. Well written, funny, dark in places and weird in a way but I found it quite good.
Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book, I loved the way this book was written it was almost like they were talking straight to you, loved the duo pov , and the end had a twist !

This was fun! I enjoyed the author’s writing and the characters. I thought the second half was a bit slower than the first, but still fun.

With an interesting plot but a little progress in the middle, the story take us into a successful marriage that reaches a rough patch. Unfortunately, the little character development and slow progress made me lost a little bit the interest on this book, but the need to now how everything was going to end made me finished it.

Fast-paced, a strong voice and darkly humorous tone, made My Wife The Serial Killer a highly enjoyable read. I preferred the POV of Fran to her husband, Gareth, but both perspectives work well together. The humour inherent in a police detective investigating a murder that his wife actually committed is great fun, too. H J Garrett did a good job of making readers root for a main character who they know to be a murderer.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the first page! It's got murder mixed in with dark humour, one of my favourite combos!
I loved how it would go between Fran and Gareth, because you were rooting for both sides, Fran to get away with it and Gareth to solve it!
I liked that it had how the court case played out as well, as sometimes I find thrillers don't bring that aspect into the book!!
Overall a really easy and enjoyable read!

Thanks to NetGalley & Storm Publishing for the chance to read this book
Mixed feelings about this one, pretty fast paced read, quite funny at times but also dragged on at times for me, overall pretty good book. I kind of hate how it had a pretty predictable ending, but at the same time it's like how else could it have ended and still been good

My Wife, the Serial Killer by H.J. Garbett
I mean… I love anything to do with serial killers (what does that say about me?! 😅), so when I saw that title, I immediately had to read it. Plus—that cover? Gorgeous. Pink, detailed, creepy in the best way.
Not gonna lie, the first half felt quite slow and it took me a while to get into it. But once it picked up around the halfway mark, I was flying through the pages. Totally addictive. I needed answers, and I needed to know what was going on with Lily.
If you’re into morally grey, unhinged women and twisty plots that mess with your head—you’ll want this on your TBR.
The only downside for me was the pacing at the start, and the ending left a few things open that I wish had been tied up. But still, it was a dark and gripping read that had me questioning everything. Would I recommend it? Absolutely—especially if you’re into thrillers with bite.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing style is dark and witty which hooked me quickly into the story. I finished this a few weeks ago, but it has certainly stuck with me. I’ll definitely be reading any follow ups.

With so many murder mystery books out there and more being published as we speak, how likely is it that a book stands out for changing the name of the game from “whodunnit” to “whydunnit”. But that is exactly what Garbett does with this book. The book opens with the protagonist (or is it anti-protagonist) murdering an old man, so there is no mystery to solve about who committed the murder. What keeps you engaged is your desire to know why he was murdered.
From the very first pages, the book pulls you into a brilliantly twisted setup: Fran Donoghue, suburban wife and amateur murderer, “has just killed her neighbor … and you’ll probably agree, he deserved it.” Meanwhile her husband, Detective Gareth Donoghue, starts to wonder why the case feels all too close to home. It’s dark, it’s clever and just chaotic enough to be irresistible.
Fran steals the show. She’s witty, brazen, and so fun in her own morally murky way. I kept rooting for her, even as she stabs people. Her inner monologue is twisted and funny. That mix of humor and horror keeps the pages turning at lightning pace. Gareth pales in comparison. His dual role as husband and cop creates a tension, but his actions are far from convincing. I found him clueless and inconsistent, wondering why Fran ended up with him at all.
Expect to laugh, to squirm, and to finish it in under a day.

I Ran through this book like I run through red lights... not even aware of my surroundings.
The witty characters and the plot were brilliant; the Cat carried the show, a Moment from death at every turn, but hanging on out of pure spite.
it was giving new age writing, think Bella Mackie and Kitty Collins,
you find yourself on the FMC side.. I mean, who wouldn't it may be a gory job, but being a female vigilantly is a job that's got to be done.
Would read more from this Author!!

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers, for an opportunity to read this.
I enjoyed this one! For My Wife, The Serial Killer has an intriguing title and a premise to match, though I’ll admit, the story felt a little loose in parts and started on the slower side. But once it picked up, especially in the second half, I was fully in. Twisty, darkly entertaining, and worth a one-time read.

If you enjoy your thrillers with a twist of dark humor and a dash of domestic chaos, My Wife, The Serial Killer by H.J. Garbett is a must-read. This fast-paced, laugh-out-loud mystery follows Fran and Gareth, a married couple with a rather unusual problem: Fran has just killed her second man, and Gareth—an ever-dedicated police officer—is hot on the trail of a disappearance he suspects is more than it seems.
Garbett expertly blends suspense with sharp, irreverent wit. Fran is a delightfully twisted protagonist whose internal monologue will keep readers chuckling even as the stakes climb. Meanwhile, Gareth’s oblivious-yet-determined investigation adds a delicious layer of irony and tension.
The story moves quickly, making it easy to devour in a single sitting, and just when you think you know how it will all unravel, Garbett throws in a clever and unexpected ending that flips everything on its head.
Fans of the Finlay Donovan or Stephanie Plum series will feel right at home with this darkly comic caper. My Wife, The Serial Killer is wickedly fun, refreshingly original, and proves that love and murder aren’t always mutually exclusive.

3.5 stars
This was a darkly fun and surprisingly entertaining read. I loved the setup: Gareth, the golden retriever of a detective husband, and Fran, his unhinged (but oddly likable) wife who might just be a serial killer. The dual POV really worked, and Fran’s internal commentary was one of my favorite parts.
The story hooked me early, but the pacing slowed a bit in the middle and the ending felt abrupt. I was hoping for more clarity and closure after such a strong build-up.
Still, it was a quick, witty read and a solid debut. Think Finlay Donovan if she were actually a psychopath. I’d definitely read more from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC!

Gareth is a detective and Fran is his wife. They recently moved into their new home with their cat mep.
Everyone thinks Fran is this nice, sweet innocent woman but little do they know…..
she’s a serial killer, and the messed up part about it is Gareth is investigating one of his wife’s murders.
All in all I did enjoy reading this book it’s funny and suspenseful in the best way, I was literally sitting at the edge of my bed reading this.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc copy

Was checking out titles on NetGalley and My Wife, The Serial Killer caught my attention. I was lucky enough to be sent a copy from the publisher. I loved the switching POV from our serial killer wife to her detective husband. While I usually read stories where the killer is unknown I love how the author still included surprises / twists in the story. For example, the motive unraveling had me at the edge of my seat. Perfect for those who don’t want gore but a good thrill. Adding personal life moments (vague to avoid spoilers) and the wife’s journey with planning her future added a special touch. If you’re looking for a simple page turner this is the book for you. 5 STARS FROM ME!

3.5 stars!
Thank you to NetGalley & Storm publishing for access to this eARC!
This was fun and silly with a great premise, I just found it lacking a little. And call me crazy but I didn’t feel that the reason for the murdering was completely valid and so as the story went on and the plot unraveled, I came to dislike Fran.
Garret on the other hand went psycho and i appreciated it BUT I felt like he went from 0 to 100 and was almost a complete different character (like character development but to the EXTREME, and it would’ve been understandable if he hadn’t jumped to where he ended up as well but props to him).
If you like mysteries that are slightly unserious and dual pov from detective and criminal I’d definitely say give it a chance, cause I could 100% see you loving it!

absolutely adored “My Wife, the Serial Killer.” The author said it’s Schitt’s Creek-meets-Dexter, and I couldn’t agree more! It’s about a woman who is a killer and is married to a detective. It was written very well and had a lot of dark humor which I enjoyed. There were several times I laughed out loud while reading it.
The characters were fully developed and unique and I really especially enjoyed the female main character., Fran. I definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves a fast paced thriller mixed with dark comedy.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
A great story, told from multiple points of view which adds to the dynamics of the plot, seeing the same event from different people.
The story follows Fran and Gareth, a married couple. Gareth has just been promoted to Detective in the police. Fran has just committed her second murder, Gareth doesn't need to know about that, does he...
Would recommend to lots of different readers.
