I honestly think this series has potential but the magic system is just all over the place, with way too much jammed in. The first 50% of this dragged and felt like a filler book but the last 50% hooked me and I flew through it so there are also some pacing issues.
I do like our main characters with their relationship dynamic and found family. 3.5 stars.

Okay book lovers, if you didn't know I've been obsessed with Fear The Flames ever since I first read it back in 2023, so I've been waiting for this book for a long time, and I'm so grateful to be able to receive an eARC early to read and review it. This book was everything I was waiting for and more. I'm going to leave this review as spoiler free as possible because I think it's better to go in blind.
What to expect
Book 2 in a series
Fast paced action
Magic and prophecies
Dragons
Battles and politics
Touch her and die
They will burn the world down for each other
Caydens obsession with Elowen continues in this book, maybe even more than before and I am living for it π He would literally burn the world down for her, she is his everything. The pining at the start of the book as he tries to get back in her good graces after the ending of the last book is just *chefs kiss*
I honestly was highlighting so many lines, his declaration of his obsession is swoon worthy and Olivia is such a fantastic writer.
Elowen is back as our ruthless dragon queen. She has a kind heart, but has a lot of rage for the people who have wronged her. She's a stabby FMC who now has 5 fierce protective dragons looking out for her. It's an epic combination. And I really am enjoying her journey.
The found family vibes in this book are just perfection. And the groups dynamic stays the same even though everything around them is changing.
There are a lot of battles in this one as well as a lot of new information. Gods and Goddesses are introduced more, as well as magic wielder mages and Wyverns. Elowen and Cayden also explore new territories, as the story becomes even more political as they try to find allies against her father as the new King and Queen.
All in all, and explosive sequel, a much faster paced book than I was predicting. There are so many tropes packed into this one, but I honestly did not care, I was having the best time reading it. I wasn't expecting the ending and story to go where it went, I'm intrigued to see what direction the next book will take after that cliffhanger ending!
Highly recommend picking up this series if you love the dragon romantasy genre. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I was provided an eArc before release by Bonnier Books. This review is my honest opinion.
I was so excited for this next book in the series after loving fear the flames. This book it is multi pov and we follow Elowen and Cayden and their journey to war with Imirath and to take the throne from King Garrick, Elowens Father.
The pacing of this book is much slower than that of fear the flames and most of the action/fighting takes up around 30% of the book. I do feel like this is a bit disappointing however the world building and relationship development does make up for this.
My only other negative is that it can sometimes be over descriptive and quite repetitive with certain aspects such as the Dragons and Elowen and Cayden when they describe each other.
The ending!?!?! That is all I will say but it's safe to say I will be anticipating the release of book 3 just as much!
Overall I really enjoyed this book and it am very excited and nervous to see where the story continues...

4.5*
I'm in mourning. No one speak to me until book three is released. Liv, I will do anything to have that book tomorrow :')
Wrath of the Dragons was funny, suspenseful and utterly heart wrenching all at once, and I don't even know where to start. The characters are so loveable and fun to read; from Elowen and her constant worry of her hair looking bad to threatening everyone who stands in the way of her rightful throne, Cayden and his protective nature of only El, yet his demonic attitude towards everyone else (speaking of demons, can we all appreciate his armour!?). Even the five dragons are SO incredibly written!
The political turmoil in this series is so interesting to read, to the point it makes this book so addicting, you won't know when to stop reading. It's full of found family, 'touch her/him and die', morally grey characters, loveable side characters, loyal dragons... it's truly the perfect romantasy.
One thing about Miss Olivia Rose Darling, is that she knows how to break your heart with an epic cliffhanger... and broken I am, because my goodness that was not expected at all.

Wrath of the Dragons picks up right where Fear the Flames left off and I was so ready to be back in Elowen and Caydenβs world. I found this one not as spicy as Fear the Flames (THAT brothel scene π₯΅) but the many epic battles made up for it IMO. The author did such a great job of describing Elowenβs joy when she rides her dragons, I felt right there with her. Cayden continues to be the perfect book boyfriend and the thoughtful book he gifts Elowen made my heart melt. My one gripe (SPOILERS AHEAD) was Caydenβs powers. When he βcalls on the shadows and feels nothingβ I was so excited that we may have an MMC that wasnβt a shadow wielder(we already have Rhysand, Xaden, Kingfisher to name a few)β¦then a few chapters later heβs wielding shadows. Nevertheless Iβm super excited for the next instalment and hopeful heβll have other powers yet to be revealed!
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

Iβve been waiting for this since I finished the first book in 2023. I love Elowen and Cayden so much and I was so excited to finally get the second book.
I liked this book overall, but it definitely felt clunky in some parts. Iβm hoping the writing and story continue to get better as the series goes on and that it flows easier. But honestly, I was here for the vibes.
Thank you Olivia and Netgalley for this arc π«Άπ»

This book was everything I wanted after Fear the Flames. Cayden and Elowens relationship is just perfection and I love their bloodthirsty out for vengeance vibe in this book. It is just totally badass and I am SO here for it. Ryder, Saskia and Finnian are the best side kicks and add so much to the story line. And the DRAGONSSSS yes oh yes the dragons are still amazing and I love them. I know Elowen does too but I would give her a run for her money. The cliffhanger is devastatingly amazing and I know the next book is going to be just as brilliant as the first two and I cannot wait to read it.

The first half of the book was boring but the second half picked up and kept me interested till the end.
The fmc was annoying but I learned to ignore it. Sheβs so bland like idk I didnβt feel a single thing towards her this entire book.
Cayden carried this book. His poor back π
Omg his povs were EVERYTHING. The way he doted on her π« also we finally do discover the reason behind his obsession with finding her, it was kinda anticlimactic but I appreciated there not being any sort of betrayal in his heart. Otherwise it wouldβve been hella cliche.
This book was again very centred on the romance. The fantasy element took a backseat but the elements that were written were somewhat interesting.
That ending was diabolical tho and I loveeeeeeed it omfds like this was the perfect way to bring this book back to life. Now a part of me is excited to see where sheβs gna take the story.
ΰ³ββ· Thank you NetGalley and Zaffre for the ARC! β₯οΈ

This book took me on such an emotional ride-in the best way possible! As the second installment in the Fear the Flames series, it absolutely delivered. A romantic fantasy through and through, I devoured every page. The worldbuilding is rich, the pacing just right (I'd call it a solid medium pace), and the cast of characters is both diverse and lovable
The story had me hooked from the start, and I genuinely never knew what was coming next. With dragons, magic, political intrigue, and war, this book is packed with action and drama, balanced perfectly by witty banter and some seriously spicy moments. The dual POV worked really well, offering deeper insight into both leads and making the emotional stakes hit even harder.
There's a fantastic mix of themes: morally grey characters, epic battles, power struggles, and romance that feels both intense and earned. It's adventurous, thrilling, and beautifully immersive-I felt completely transported to another world.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the early copy of this book. I had been waiting for this book since the end of book 1, I literally screamed when I got accepted for an early copy. This was everything I wanted from the second book. I literally couldn't put my kindle down while reading it. That ending!!!! I literally need the next one now!

Plot- or character-driven? A mix

Y'all! I am so ready to be back in this series!!
If you read Fear of the Flames and loved it because of the amazingly well written characters with unmatched batter and fantasy level action reminiscent of watching Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones than fear not because the squeal has allllll thattttt and more! I would die for Elowen and Cayden!!
I cannot recommend this series more and I regularly tell people to pleaseeee go read it!
Thank you to Olivia Rose Darling, Bonnier Books UK and NetGalley for a digital ARC of Wrath of the Dragons by Olivia Rose Darling.

Thank you NetGalley and Zaffre for an ARC of this book.
I had a lot of fun reading Fear the Flames and appreciated the characters, the dynamics, and world building. This sequel continues where we left off and pulls us deeper into the war Elowen and Cayden are embarking on. Overall, it was a decent read but I found the first book more engaging than the sequel. I will continue the series as I'm curious how the story ends.
3/5 spice
Game of thrones vibes
Found family
Conquering kingdoms is a couples activity
LOTS of "touch her or die" possessive MMC

That ending has tipped me over the edge. This book had a choke hold on me from begging to end. With no idea what to expect next, with twists and turns that had me reeling. With a duel pov of the main characters (Caydenβs pov is everything). If you are a fan of a strong fmc, found family, dragons, banter, drama, action and spice this is definitely a book for you.
I adored Fear The Flames and the same can be said for Wrath Of Dragons.
I cannot wait to receive my physical copy.
A well deserved 5 star read.
Thank you to Netgally and Olivia Rose Darling for allowing me to dip my toes back into this epic Romantasy world early

Fear the Flames has consumed every inch of my heart and soul since the moment I picked it up and I knew that Wrath of the Dragons would be just as enthralling and beautiful, but I can hand on heart say this book truly surpassed all my expectations.
β¨ dual pov
β¨ mmc that would burn the world down for his woman
β¨ found family
β¨ stabby, fiery fmc
β¨ ALL THE DRAGONS!!!!!
Olivia Rose Darling put her entire soul into this book and itβs as transparent as the windows of the Empire State Building, the world-building was exquisite, the battle scenes and political intrigue were so well-written and the romance, banter and yearning between Elowen and Cayden was top tier.
Yet again, that ending has devastated me to my core and I am SEATED for Book 3, however I fear if it was published tomorrow it would still be too long to wait.
An endless endless thank you to Olivia, Bonnier Books UK and to NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book, I am so grateful.

Thank you NetGalley and Zaffre for an ARC of this book. I loved reading fear the flames and really liked the characters Elowen and Cayden. I loved their chemistry and also their friends. Seeing the relationships develop over this book and also the character development was great. Elowen really grew into herself and became more confident as a leader. Caydenβs love for Elowen made me want to cry constantly. He loves her so much. This book had me laughing and crying. Oh my god the last few chapters had me hysterically crying. Iβm dying to see what happens in book 3!
