was a great ending to the series. I’m hoping we’ll see our protagonist in a new series as she moves on in her life. But this was a great ending and totally satisfactory.
Ellie Alexander is one of a handful of cozy authors, who really know how to spin a tail, create suspense, and bring their characters to life. Every. Single. Series! No matter which one of her books you pick up, you will not be disappointed.
If you have never read a book by this author? Shame on you! But here’s a chance to fix that no matter where you start each book seems to refine as a standalone. I’ve started several of her series in the middle and went back and read the others and was just fine.

Enjoyed this book. Its a good addition to the series. Annie goes to a book fair where she helps to solve a murder. She finally hopes she has evidence to solve Scarlet's murder .

I have read many of Ellie Alexander’s stories they are well written and easy to read. This story takes place at a book fair where they end up finding a dead body and they have to find the real killer. I would recommend to everyone.

I loved this series....so much so that I was sad to find out this is the final book in this series. After some googling, I read that another spinoff series is coming from this so I'm excited for that.
We finally learn the details surrounding Scarlet's death (which I've been wondering about throughout this series) so I was happy to get answers regarding that. Redwood Grove always produces the best mysteries. I absolutely enjoyed this. I read this super quickly because the way Ellie writes the characters and the twists makes it so easy to just binge these books in one sitting. Look forward to the next series!

Annie and Fletcher have travelled to a convention for booksellers. The convention has barely started and someone is killed. Annie is ready and able to help solve the murder. Not only are they there for the convention, but also to see about solving Scarlet's murder. It was nice to finally have a resolution to Scarlett's death and how great that Annie solved the mystery.
When I found out this was the last book in the series I was a bit upset. I've been enjoying this series a lot. While this series is over, Annie and Fletcher will still be around in a new series called Novel Detectives that is out in 2026.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is based on an ARC from NetGalley, courtesy of the publisher.

The 6th and final book in the Secret Bookcase series of cozy mysteries. It's always sad to come to the end of a great series, but Ellie Alexander wraps up all the loose threads, and Scarlet's killer is brought to justice. With Annie opening her detective agency, maybe this will be the next series to launch?

4.5/5 ⭐️
In the sixth and final installment of this series, Annie is finally able to solve the mystery of the murder of her best friend Scarlett. Before that though, she finds herself drawn into the murder of a tech mogul at a book convention.
I was so sad when I read in the synopsis of this one that is was the final in this series because I've really, really enjoyed it. However, good news - there is going to be a new series about Annie and Fletcher as private detectives! I was thrilled at the end when I saw that blurb about the new series. The mystery in this one wasn't perhaps as good (but just slightly) as others in the series because part of it was resolving the Scarlett storyline. It was still a good conclusion to this storyline, and a perfect way to launch Annie into her next series! Can't wait for that one to come out!!
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Everything that Ellie Alexander writes is gold A Body at the Book Fair is no exception. I love this series and these characters. I can’t wait to read what they get up to next in The Novel Detectives.

This book concludes The Secret Bookcase series with a bang! Lots of chills and thrills will find the reader on the edge of their seats. Great characters, solid mystery and lots of twists and turns! I highly recommend!! Thanks #Netgalley and #StormPublishing for the eARC in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are mine.

A Body at the Book Fair by Ellie Alexander sees Annie and Fletcher attending a book fair and Liam and Pri joining them as part of the trip will be finally nailing Scarlet’s murderer. They have a plan. Then at the very first presentation the inventor of a virtual reality book reader is killed by his own device. Annie is a witness and hops to her feet to organize the situation before the police get there. As it happens the detective is a young woman, Detective Greene, who arrives and it appears they are kindred spirits and bond immediately. Now Annie has two deaths: Fox Andrews, the inventor, and Scarlet, the friend. The other people at the book fair are interesting and Annie and Fletcher soon mark several of them as suspects. They proceed from there. When the time comes for Annie to approach Logan Ashford for a job so she can get an employee badge so she can enter the building in her own time. That goes smoothly so she is able to go back to the book fair to both investigate and shop for the store.
Good characters all, it will be a good thing when Scarlet’s death is no longer hanging over Annie. She and Fletcher have gotten their investigators’ licenses and Novel Detectives is ready to roll. Liam is one character that is not fleshed out as much as I would like and while loyal, is underused. The mysteries, both of them, were well-thought-out and interesting. It’s so sad that in this world there are people so willing to take advantage of others. A lesson to be learned from fiction? Love this series. Great premise. Interesting people. Constant references to books. Couldn’t be better.
I was invited to read A Body at the Book Fair by Storm Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #StormPublishing #EllieAlexander #ABodyAtTheBookFair

Absolutely loved this! Perfect whodunit, I had no idea until the very end and stayed on the edge of my seat! Well done!

Thank you for allowing me to review this book. The final book in the Secret Bookshop series, brings the answers to the murder of Scarlett as another death occurs at the book fair in Silicon Valley. Annie, Hal, Liam & Pri, have developed into characters that you would love to meet. They support each other with complementary skills.
It is a very good cozy crime fiction story, which I recommend to all. If possible read the series in order to understand the background to the characters. I look forward to more about the Novel Detectives.

I always like a book right away whose title explicitly describes the plot instead of some cutesy title that is easily forgotten. And the story and characters live up to the expectations of the title. A quick, easy read. Thanks to #NetGalley and #ABodyAtTheBookFair for advanced digital copy.

Another great story in the Secret Bookstore series with Annie Murray and her colleague, Fletcher, embarking on a combined joint venture of co-owning the bookstore whilst also setting up their own private detective agency aptly called Novel Detectives.
In a departure from the previous books, the main events occur at a book convention in Silicon Valley. The story cleverly weaves together two plot lines. An intriguing murder of a somewhat unpleasant entrepreneur during a panel discussion session at the convention and the culmination of a cold case that Annie had been slowly working on for the past 10 years, regarding the murder if her best friend.
The setting and atmosphere at the book convention are nicely described. The central characters are well developed and it’s nice to see the strong relationships between Annie and the other core characters. The plot is well paced with a range of key suspects and various potential motives gradually exposed. The conclusion to each case felt a little rushed and left a few questions unanswered. However, overall this was an enjoyable cosy mystery, in a delightful setting with delightful characters and some good plot twists.

Ok! I need to get one-five!
A Body at the Book Fair by Ellie Alexander was a fun and quick cozy mystery.
There were so many suspects, with many of their stories woven together, and the ending was a true surprise to me.
This is a well written light cozy with fantastic characters.
This story introduced a perfectly balanced blend of loveable side characters, a fun and relatable amateur sleuth main character, Annie, and one of the best small towns to read about. I really enjoyed every aspect of this story.
Now I’m off to see where I can read the previous titles.

The author can weave a great cozy mystery at the same time as she infuses the storyline with engaging atmospherics.
Annie Murray has been looking forward to this book fair for some time, not just because she’ll hook up with industry colleagues, but it will give her access to the Silicon Summit Partners, who Annie has long suspected was instrumental in the death of her best friend, Scarlet.
Her close associate, Fletcher Hughes, will have her back at the book fair and at the investment firm.
While Annie is attending the book fair and learning about virtual reality reading, there is a suspicious death. Was his virtual reality reading device the motive for his murder?
Perhaps the headset wasn’t fully ready for market? Annie is working, unofficially, with the slightly green detective on that case while she proceeds with plans to secure evidence from the investment firm.
This series culminated with the exposure of Scarlet’s killer and the spin-off, Novel Detectives, is slated to start early in 2026. It’s looking to be a good one.

A Body at the Book Fair by Ellie Alexander was a great conclusion to the Secret Bookcase series. One of my favorite parts of the series conclusion is seeing the growth the main character has had throughout the series in regards to her found family, friends, self confidence and professional goals. I am glad that the main series mystery is wrapped up and I enjoyed the mystery that happened while Annie and Fletcher attended the convention. Overall this series finale was an excellent way to begin Annie and Fletchers new future adventures for the Novel Detectives private investigations agency.

This is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors and while this isn't my favorite series by her I have really enjoyed it. I was excited to see this was the final book as that means we are getting answers to the mystery that has run through the previous 5 books in the series. Annie has been so affected by the murder of her college roommate and best friend, Scarlet that I was so excited to see her get answers.
Annie and her business partner and friend, Fletcher, are heading to a book fair as they are taking over The Secret Bookcase bookstore. This isn't an element of the book business I know that much about so I was really curious to see more about that. While I missed the community of Redwood Grove (and all the time spent in the fabulous bookstore) I did enjoy this field trip - especially since most of my favorite characters were there too.
I enjoyed this mystery and the time spent with the characters. I enjoyed following along with Annie as she came face to face with the mystery that has haunted her for years. It's not the most memorable mystery - except for the bookstore which is on my top 5 list of places I wish were real - but it is enjoyable with likable characters and a great setting. While the series is ending I'm looking forward to seeing what the author does next in the world she's created.

This is the 6th and evidently final book in the Secret Bookcase Mystery series, which is going to then continue as the Novel Detectives spin-off series. Here Annie visits a book fair and encounters a murder while there. In addition, she and her friends have planned to try to solve the original murder of Annie's friend Scarlett when they were in college. Of course, she solves both mysteries, although I did not. I enjoy the characters in this well-written series, and hope the characters continue in the new spin-off series that apparently will focus more on their new detective agency than on the bookstore. Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for providing an ARC.

I have really enjoyed getting to know Annie, Fletcher, Pri, Liam, and crew over the six-book series.
In A Body at the Book Fair, Annie, Fletcher, Pri, and Liam head to Santa Clara for a booksellers’ convention and to infiltrate Silicon Summit Partners. Of course, there’s a dead body, and we get to watch Annie and Fletcher solve the murder while working on their side quest. I love the interaction between Annie and Fletcher as they investigate.
While I am sad to see this series come to an end, I’m glad Annie gets closure and gets to continue doing what she loves most. I’m so happy there is a spin-off coming in 2026.
Thank you, NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Ellie Alexander, for allowing me access to the ARC of this book.
