This series has brought me so much joy! I love how it has everything a reader could want in a cozy mystery—a bookshop setting, a wonderful small town, great friendships, a fabulous book boyfriend, and fun murder plots—but ALSO an over-arching mystery that spans all of the books and drives them forward.
I wish The Secret Bookcase and The Stag were real places I could visit!
I was so delighted to see that Annie and Fletcher’s stories are continuing with a new Novel Detectives series—I can’t wait!

This is the final instalment of a series of which I’ve not read any of the other books..
It didn’t spoil my enjoyment and I followed characters and events ok. That said, due to the way this ended I wish I’d read the whole series in order.
The book is well written and the story is enjoyable and engaging. More mystery than thriller, it’s a fun easy read

A fast paced novel that keeps you guessing until the very end. This was my first Ellie Alexander novel. It’s now one of my favorite cozy mystery book series. I look forward to the next one.

The Body at the Book Fair is the sixth installment of the Secret Bookcase Mystery series by Ellie Alexander. Annie has happily settled into her life in Redwood Grove. She and her business partner, Fletcher, are purchasing the bookstore and opening their own private detective business. It sounds like an odd combination but Annie studied police procedure in college and Fletcher is an avid Sherlock Holmes fan. Annie’s best friend and college roommate, Scarlet, was murdered shortly before their college graduation. Annie is determined to solve the mystery. Annie and Fletcher are attending a book faire in Santa Clara and, as usual when they are around, a murder takes place. Many of the attendees are suspects. The local police ask Annie to help with the case. Annie also has plans to solve Scarlet’s murder while she is in Santa Clara. You don’t need to have read the other books to enjoy this one. I do feel the characters weren’t as fleshed out as in earlier books. That is probably because it takes place away from Redwood Grove. But, all in all, a fun cozy mystery read.

Thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review the last of the Secret Bookcase Mysteries. Annie, Fletcher, and Liam are in Santa Clara for a bookseller's convention and to try to finally solve the mystery of who killed Scarlet all those years ago. Annie is interested in the Headset, a new VR reading device, and attends a presentation on it only to have the inventor die mid-presentation. As a newly licensed private detective, she offers to help the police while also investigating Scarlet's death.
I have loved this series. It's fun, engaging, and I adore the setting. The characters are a huge part of what makes the series. The pacing of this entry is perfect. Annie's grit and her growth is exciting. The puzzles presented were fun. I was sad to see this series end and thrilled to learn Annie & Fletcher will be returning in a new series!
I highly recommend all of this series!

Ellie Alexander brings the Secret Bookcase series to a satisfying close with A Body at the Book Fair. Annie Murray and her partner Fletcher head to a bustling book fair with dual purposes: to promote their Agatha Christie–themed bookshop and burgeoning detective agency, and to finally pursue long-awaited justice for Annie’s best friend Scarlett, whose college murder has haunted her for years. But when a fellow attendee is found dead at the fair, Annie and Fletcher are pulled into another tangled case that tests their investigative skills and threatens to derail Annie’s personal quest for closure.
Alexander’s hallmark charm shines through—witty dialogue, bookish details, and a cozy small-town backdrop brimming with atmosphere. The mystery is clever and layered, filled with red herrings that keep readers guessing until the very end. Most rewarding is the resolution of Scarlett’s murder, which ties together the threads woven across the series while setting the stage for a fresh spin-off featuring Annie and Fletcher’s new detective venture.
Fans of cozy mysteries will relish the mix of literary flair, heart, and suspense. While bittersweet as a finale, A Body at the Book Fair offers both closure and the promise of new beginnings—making it a must-read for long-time fans and an inviting entry point for newcomers.

I loved this series and will reread at some point. The main characters are consistently fun and memorable. These don’t need to be read in order, personally I do prefer to read in order. A true cozy.
Highly recommend!
I was blessed with an ARC and the opinions expressed are my own.

I found this to be a great ending for this series.
If you like a cozy mystery with a little romance without the spice, I highly recommend. But start at the beginning as each book is tied to each other. Plus there is a mystery that started in the first book and is talked about in each book
We follow Annie who helps run an Agatha Christie themed bookshop. She and her friends travel to a book fair where a murder occurs.

Ellie alexander's newest series is fun. This is the last book and it wraps up everything. I love reading her books and would highly recommend this series and book!

A beautiful ending to this perfect cozy mystery series! A Body at the Book Fair has all our favorite characters helping solve Scarlet’s death and finally breathing a sigh of relief for all involved. I am so over the moon that Ellie Alexander will be writing a spin off series, The Novel Detectives! I love each and every character in this series so I’m beyond excited that they will not end with this book.

In this conclusion to the Secret Bookcase series, Annie Murray is happy running her Agatha Christie themed book shop and getting her detective agency up and running with her friend Fletcher. However, she is still haunted by the unsolved murder of her best friend. When they head to an annual Book Fair, Annie also hopes to sneak into the organization she believes is responsible for her friend's death, located close to the event. But when an attendee is murdered at the Book Fair, Annie and Fletcher are immediately in hand and keen to solve the crime before the killer strikes again.
MY THOUGHTS
A great finish to this enjoyable series which, I'm pleased to note, sees the cold case mystery of Scarlett's murder finally resolved. In addition to the murder mystery storyline, this book provides commentary on some of the challenges within the book industry, offering interesting insight. There's enough information in this book that you could read it as a standalone but I would definitely recommend reading the entire series. For those that enjoyed this series, you'll be happy to know there is going to be a spin-off series.
Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this book. ⭐⭐⭐.75 rounded up.

Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my personal review. I am such a fan of this series and this book did not disappoint. It was a good conclusion to the mystery of Scarlett's killer and had another murder to solve as well. I am looking forward to more adventures with Annie and Fletcher as the Novel Detectives spinoff series. If you are looking for a good cozy mystery series, look no further, this one draws you in and gets you connected with the characters.

I always feel like something is missing in this series. You definitely need to read the previous books in this series. The ending feels unsatisfactory with all the buildup for Scarlets murder. #ABodyattheBookFair #NetGalley

I have loved this series by Ellie Alexander! It was such a fun cozy mystery series with a great cast of characters. I really thought it was wrapped up well and I have hopes that there are spin offs with the other characters! I would highly recommend if you want a short cozy mystery series that you could use as a palette cleanser! Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this eARC.

This is the 6th installment in the Secret Bookcase mystery series. Annie Murray and her coworker Fletcher are taking over the bookstore from Hal and starting their own private investigating business. Annie and Fletcher are heading to a book conference while Hal is holding down the fort of the store. Annie is also on a mission to finalize the murder investigation into her college friend Scarlett’s murder. She feels she knows who did it she just needs to find the evidence. She plans to meet with the CEO of Silicon Partner Summit who is believed to be Scarlet’s killer. While Annie is getting ready to execute that part of the plan, there is a murder at the conference that she gets involved in. Liam and Pri join Fletcher and Annie to solve not one mystery but two. I liked how Fletcher was more involved, however, the ending did feel a little rushed. I am excited that there is a continuation or spin off with Annie and Fletcher’s Novel Suspects.

An enjoyable cozy mystery with a charming book fair backdrop. I liked the twists and the quirky characters, though a few parts felt a little slow. Still, it was a fun and satisfying read! I hate to see this series end though!!

I'm so sad to see this series end!! I didn't realize before I read this outing that it was the final installment, though I think Ellie Alexander left it in a good place (and it sounds like we'll get more stories from the new private detective agency?)
We get two mysteries wrapped up in one in this novel - the long-awaited conclusion to Scarlet's murder, and the murder of a presenter at a Book Fair in Santa Clara, CA.
Because I know a bit about the industry of bookselling, and I follow the publishing world as well, it was particularly interesting to read this about the potential for a (fictional-as-far-as-I-know) VR headset that would plunge you into a story. Frankly, I am not personally interested in such a thing for many of the books I read, given how many of them are mysteries!
I've really enjoyed this series, particularly the audiobooks, which were my first introduction to the Secret Bookcase Mysteries.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Storm for the ARC!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable cosy mystery that had me hooked from the first chapter. Ellie Alexander’s writing is warm, engaging and full of atmosphere, creating the perfect setting for a mystery that’s as clever as it is entertaining.
The book is part of a series, but it works brilliantly as a standalone. I hadn't read the earlier instalments, but the author does a fantastic job of weaving in enough back story to orient new readers without slowing down the pace or overwhelming the plot. The main characters are all well-developed, likeable and layered. The less likeable characters felt thoughtfully developed and necessary to the story, adding intrigue and tension rather than simply acting as plot devices.
Throughout, the story is filled with literary touches that will delight book lovers. The setting feels vivid and real, and the description of the bookstore made me wish I could visit The Secret Bookcase myself. I'll certainly be looking out for more from Ellie Alexander based on my enjoyment of this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This is the final book in A Secret Bookcase Mystery series, I definitely would suggest reading them in order as there is an ongoing side investigation that carries on throughout the entire series. In this story Annie and Fletcher take off to Santa Clara to attend a book fair while also hoping to find the evidence they need to nail down her friend's murderer. Before they have a chance to get that investigation going someone at the book fair dies and she is thrown into that investigation to figure out who killed him. I really liked the setting of the book and all the chaos that came with it. I think everything wrapped up nicely for the series and gave the closure needed. Ellie Alexander could definitely come back around to this bookstore and extend the series with new mysteries especially with Annie and Fletchers new business. I had a great time with this series!
Thank you to Storm Publishing and Ellie Alexander for an eARC of this book in exchange of my honest review. #ABodyattheBookFair #NetGalley

Another great story from Ellie Alexander. This time getting into a bit of detective work prior to the opening of their Detective Agency, which will be attached to the Bookshop. More delights await!
