This one had everything, add a little paranormal to the fix and you have a great combination. The ending was what I liked most about this book. I loved being shocked and I certainly got it with this book.

I wanted to read this book because the description said, "page-turning psychological thriller full of twists". It was more of a slow burn for me. They also sold me by saying it was for Lisa Jewell and Freida McFadden fans. I didn't see the similarity in writing.

It was an OK book. I defiantly didn't predict the ending. But overall is was slow getting interesting. It is difficult to relate to the main character.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

This had a bit of a slow pace for me, and a bit repetitive at times. But there were so many possibilities and potential scenarios that I really wanted to find out who, what and why as I got further into the book. A good read.

Maggie's husband has died and after hiding herself away she decides that she needs to be brave & re-join the outside world.
She starts with a psychic night at the village pub which will turn her life around in ways she could never have imagined. When she starts spending time with her new friends are they as genuine and caring as they seem?
I was hooked on this book and loved the twist and turns along the way, the story unfolds slowly keeping you guessing although I did guess tge final twist.

My first read by this author but I'll certainly be looking out for more. A well written, fast paced thriller full of drama and suspense that I just couldn't put down. Then the totally unexpected ending to top it all off.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you, NetGalley for giving me access to read this one early. I’m behind as this one has already been released but, I finally got to it and it was so good! It had me hooked from the very first page. I honestly thought I had the book figured out but the twists were not what I was expecting. Also, there was a BIG twist at the end with surprised me! In conclusion, every surprise/twist in this book I didn’t see coming.

Do yourself a favor and read this book!! If you’re a thriller fan, you’ll love it. Even if you’re not into thrillers, give it a try.. you may love it 😍

The main character in the widows husband has just started learning how to move on with her life after her husbands sudden death. She begins to question if odd things happening in the place are his spirit but could the truth be closer to home? The best twist was definitely saved for the end.

The Widow’s Husband by Natasha Boydell really drew me in!
We learn all about poor Maggie, who lived an oppressive existence, bullied by her husband. She had no life to speak of. Then he dies.
Suddenly she sees a possibility, a life. She attends a psychic night. She sees a lot of people, but meets a woman called Beth. She has a message from her late husband Frank. Then she starts to live, but things are happening…strange things. Is Frank back from the dead?
I won’t tell you any more, but things start to shock you as the reader, and I thought all sorts of things as I read!! It was a great read, and I look forward to reading more from this author!!
Many thanks to Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this arc copy via Netgalley. My opinion is my own.

The Widow’s Husband by Natasha Boydell is a psychological thriller with a supernatural edge that explores the weight of loneliness, trauma, and trying to reclaim your life after loss.

The story follows a woman who, after her husband’s death, starts to believe he’s haunting her. With no real support system and a fragile grip on reality, she attends a pub event with a psychic medium — and when she receives a message that only her husband could’ve known, everything starts to spiral.

At times, the FMC feels desperate and a little naive, but as her backstory slowly unfolds, you begin to understand her deeply rooted fears and emotional scars. She’s been through a lot — and now she’s just trying to survive, rebuild, and find a sense of freedom.

There are some interesting twists throughout (a few I caught early, a few that surprised me), and while I hoped for a bit more intensity in the middle, the final twist at the end left me feeling satisfied.

🫑 Spice-wise, this one’s mild. But emotionally? It hits some heavy themes around healing, fear, and finding your voice.

Fun, twisty story with a spooky element! Maggie is around 50 years old and has recently lost her husband. She lives in a small English village but has never been able to get to know her neighbors. Her husband locked her in the cottage every day and was abusive, mean and very controlling. Now that he was gone it might be her chance to finally have a life. Or is it? Maggie starts by going for a simple walk and sees a sign for a psychic dinner to be held at a local pub. Going to the dinner creates the means for Maggie to finally get a new life but it may also be unleashing something evil.

I enjoyed reading about shy, sensitive Maggie and was happy that she quickly made friends with young mother Alyssa and fellow widow Beth. In time she adopts a sweet dog named Benji and even gets a job at the local pub. She also meets Gary, a nice, solid man who is feeling like a third wheel in the house he shares with his son and daughter in-law. Maggie thinks her life is going well except for the strange things happening at her cottage. She smells her dead husband's after shave, things are moved or broken and the poor dog is constantly on edge. Is this something supernatural or is something else going on?

I liked the twists and turns and didn't guess all of them as I flew through the pages of this book. I really enjoyed this one. Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for a review.

Natasha Boydell does it again! Maggie is newly widowed and is dealing with the loss of her husband, Frank. The author starts at a moderate pace, introducing the background of various characters. The conclusion of this book was shocking because when you think you have it figured out, you don't. If you like British thrillers, you should read this. It's a page-turner with fleshed-out characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Boydell.

I’d rate this one 3.5 stars. I really liked the main theme of a possible haunted house. Is the house haunted? Is Maggie crazy? Is someone out to get her? I had so many questions. I liked Maggie’s character, she was easy to route for and it was nice seeing her grow as a person and make some new friends. The book did go at a slower pace than I prefer and some stuff felt repetitive. That very last twist got me. I did not see that coming at all. I love when you think it’s over and one more thing comes flying out of no where.
