Wow! Narration was PERFECTION! You can feel the emotions through the amazing voices of Alex Kydd and Penny Liu. Definitely going to read book two because I’m going to be thinking about that cliffy.

This book is amazing!😍

It had me hooked from the beginning and I just couldn’t put I don’t, so I finished it in one sitting!

And that cliffhanger?🤯
I’m diving straight into the second book!

Also, the narrators for this book is PERFECTION!
Alex Kydd, that man’s voice🥵🥵

This book had lots of potential but at times the pacing was off. Their instant love at first sight attraction was hard to believe. That set the tone for the rest of the book. The mystery aspect was good but again could have benefit from better pacing. While i dont think it was the best character development, i did like the fmc and the town she loved. The narrators were not my favorite but they werent bad

I don’t even know how to start writing about how bad this is like I really fucking hated it and this has to be the first time in history that reading the book with my eyes would have been better than listening to the audiobook because the audiobook didn’t do this story any justice.

The narrator especially for the MC, oh my goodness gag. No like literally GAG! It was even worse in the spicy scenes bro like what! No just no😭
I at least like the FMC’s POV.. it wasn’t the most memorable narration but it carried the book enough for me to be a little bit encouraged to listen till the end.

The whole concept of this should have been unique enough to pass off as interesting. Who doesn’t love a good bounty and their target romance you know? However the execution was so poor that I fear I could NEVER subject anyone to this. The dialogue is so freaking cringe and it lacks any type of flow. The pacing of the book was rushed and all over the damn place.

I felt forced into believing the chemistry between the main characters because it was written as instantaneous but lacked the Desired Tension and chemistry to back it up. Hell I felt more love between the sheriff and his wife than I did with the MC’s and they’re THE DAMN MAIN CHARACTERS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

This is a duet and I’m not ashamed to say the only thing that can even make me want to read the next book and is also the reason why this gets a 2 stars instead of 1 is the underlying mystery plot. I’m intrigued by that and would love to see how it all wraps up.

Thank you NetGalley and RB media for the ALC but I hated it. I hated it SO MUCH.

Thanks for allowing me to listen to this audiobook!

In this book we follow a young woman, Carrie, who is running away from her past life. She experienced abuse and grief at the hands of men who were supposed to love her and decided to start a new life with a blank slate. Grayson is a bounty hunter that was put on her tail by her old friends and who seemed to be worried for her wellbeing. So Carrie finds herself being hunted by this bounty hunter.

There were various elements to this story that I enjoyed. Carrie, as an FMC, was resilient and showed an uncanny ability to remain open to friendships and relationships after what seemed like a lifetime of hardship. Grayson, while also having a hard past, was able to create a life for himself with people that not only knew him well but were there for him. I liked the found family feel to his chapters.

There were also parts that I think took away from my reading experience. The romance development felt very superficial to me and unrealistic. I believe this could have been developed better so that when feelings came up, it made sense to the reader. It felt disjointed for me. Also there was a threat to Carries life throughout the book that, when discussed, felt like it was supposed to raise the stakes but I think it took to long for that danger to come to a head so it didn’t carry as much of a punch for me when it did happen. I would have preferred some little altercations spread to make it truly feel like something that I should be worried about.

The ending was a cliffhanger that I’m sure will be resolved in the next book. Unfortunately, I was unable to connect to these characters and will not be continuing the series. That being said, I believe there is an audience that would enjoy this book. Overall, I’d say a 3 star read for me.

Tropes:
🩷plus sized FMC
🖤morally grey hero
🩷damaged heroine
🖤suspense
🩷small beach town
🖤dual POV
🩷duet, not a standalone

Carrie Hale is our FMC, and has been through so much in her life recently. She has just gotten to Oregon and is looking for new beginnings and a fresh start.

Joseph Grayson. AKA Grayson is a bounty hunter for Red Snake Investigators and is hired to find Carrie Hale. Grayson finds her, but realizes she never wanted to be found.

Lines get Blurred.

This book is a romance but in between that romance interwoven is plenty of suspense and some plot twisting you don't see coming.

Catch Me When I Fall is book 1 of a duet, and does end on a cliffhanger.

The book is performed in dual narration by Alex Kydd and Penny Liu. This is my first time listening to either narrators. Overall i enjoyed the performance and thought they used excellent emotion. Occasionally the fake voices were not great but otherwise solid performance.

Dual Narration - Alex Kydd & Penny Liu
As always I love Alex Kydd as a narrator, Penny Liu was new to me and wow she is fabulous.

Cliffhanger ending… I need book two like right now!

This book was so good. A compelling story and the spice is steamy.
Grayson is so gone for Carrie and he’s tender loving only for her. Carrie is the sweetest FMC and I truly liked her. I felt she is a relatable character.

Can’t wait for the second book!
4.5 only because I feel if it where duet audio it would have been a 5 star for sure. I would still recommend this book.

What did I just read? Just when I thought I had something figured out, I most definitely did not.

This story starts with Carrie, our FMC, escaping from a rehabilitation facility and Grayson, our MMC, being hired to find her and bring her back home. He's a bounty hunter, after all.

I listened to the audio version of this book and it was done well. I recommend it!

PLEASE CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS!!

Thank you Macmillan audio for this ALC!

Catch Me When I Fall by Brittany Ann is a gripping emotional rollercoaster that pulled me in from the first page to the end. This story is equal parts heartwarming and heartbreaking, weaving a beautifully layered plot with characters who feel incredibly real. Brittany Ann has a gift for capturing raw emotion, and the narration only adds depth to an already moving experience.

From the start, I was hooked. The plot twists caught me off guard- in a way that felt surprisingly perfectly placed and aligned with character development. The unexpected connections between characters unfold masterfully, keeping the story engaging and making me want more with every chapter.

The audiobook's performance is compelling and immersive. The narrator brings each character to life, enhancing the emotional depth and making it easy to get lost in the story. One note, during specific scenes when the narrator was voicing the opposite gender character it was a bit awkward to listen to. However the story overall was done beautifully.

If you're looking for a story that will make you feel everything- hope, sorrow, love, and resilience this is a must!

Highly recommend!! Absolutely obsessed with Brittany’s writing and the way she writes angst and suspense is phenomenal. You want to keep listening it sucks you in. And don’t even get me started on the narration. Both narrators were phenomenal and I am a BIG Alex Kydd fan. He can literally narrate anything and I would listen to it. I will not be shutting up about this audiobook. I just need part two cause that cliffhanger was insane

Overall I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read the next book! The voice actors are amazing as well. I would rate it 4.5/5.

It's got the whole, second chance vibes but with a horrific past that she can't escape. Hunted by a successful, sexy bounty hunter. A bit of mysterious threat, a bit of found family, and a bit of finding herself and confronting her past. Plus it has some spice and we love a little bit of spice with a good plot!

The MMC has that broody, unattainable vibe. But you learn more about him and his morals and now I have a new book boyfriend crush.

The only thing i am really docking half a star for is the almost insta-love. It isn't really my thing, but i know some people do enjoy it.

I will say there are probably some trigger warnings for certain readers. Please research if you are sensitive to past abuse and attempted SA!

Unfortunately, I’ve decided to not finish the book. While I didn’t get far enough into the story to provide a detailed review, I believe that every book has its reader, and this one simply didn’t align with my personal taste and reading mood at the time.Wishing all the best for the author 🩷

Huge thanks for letting me listen to the audiobook early — Catch Me When I Fall officially drops on May 20th, and you’re going to want this one on your radar. From the very first chapter, I was completely drawn in. Carrie is the definition of strength, and Grayson’s unexpected vulnerability totally caught me off guard in the best way. The story is dark and intense, but also full of emotion, healing, and connection. Special shoutout to the narrators — their voices were so engaging and truly brought the characters to life. And that ending?! I need to read book two now.

I absolutely loved this book and i’m so thankful that this copy was gifted to me or I would’ve never found my next five star read!! I’m already diving into book two due to the cliff hanger I was left with lil

This book is an emotionally intense and well-written story that pulls you in from the very beginning. The characters are complex and real, and the journey they take is filled with vulnerability, growth, and resilience. The author does a great job exploring heavy themes without making the story feel overwhelming. The suspense part of the story is very compelling but the romance felt rushed. She went from hardly knowing him and him saving her to them being in love. I wish they had spent more time getting to know each other and it wasn't such an instalove moment. I also would like more back story on the MMC. I know that there is going to be another book and we may get that then but it made it difficult to connect with his character when we knew so little.about him.
The cliffhanger was wild and I am very excited for book 2!

Ummm I may need a minute to catch my breath 🫣🥵🤯🙃

This was an unexpected rather enjoyable listen due to various reasons. Firstly I thought romance and a bit of action ok I’m here for it but this was like various movies / shows rolled into an audiobook played out in your ears. It was a little bit of 50 shades, seal team six and bounty hunter all rolled into to 1 and I’m sure there are probably others that I just can’t think of to mention atm but what an experience! The ending well that was absolutely incredibly well done because I cannot wait for the 2nd audiobook now!

Usually mature themes can be a bit of a hit or miss with me and sometimes the smut can be a little too smutty but in this it seemed to be done for the most part in ways you could perceive the relationship flowing. The only difficulty is because the nature of the story also has some triggering areas so the crossover may be a bit hard to navigate for some people depending on your nature. However if you’re able to simply take this as it is and leave everything at the door and just embrace this for what it is I think you can and will enjoy this story.

It most definitely leaves you wanting more absolutely fantastically written by the author and well narrated by both narrators. I was invested in all characters from the beginning. They were so well narrated I found myself disliking the villains etc although admittedly there was a little something infuriating about the bounty hunter at first but also something rather endearing at the same time. I definitely didn’t connect the dots of who was involved in preying on Carrie, what a twist! I just couldn’t put this one down!

Huge gratitude to NetGalley, Tantor Audio & Brittany Ann for this ELC in return for an open honest review. Wishing you all best wishes with publication on 20th May 2025 🎧📚❤️🙏🏽

Okay.... how to rate this... I think I have to go with a 3 star and that is being generous.
I don't know why but I really struggled to get through this book. I had high hopes based on title and description, but I really wanted to DNF the book.
First and foremost, please check the trigger warnings before you read this book.
Tropes: Morally Gray character, widow, plus size FMC, dual POV, small town, romantic suspense, grumpy-sunshine vibes.
I think what made me struggle the most, is that the pacing in the book was all over the place and I am not a fan when that happens. With all the time jumps, I just connect to the characters or the plot.
The relationship was off for me and the origin of the relationship.
It did have suspense but it was almost overshadowed by the lack of connection I had to the characters.
There was dark romance, wasn't a fan of the way it was written.
The spice was HOT and HEAVY.
I felt that Carry was well developed, and Grayson was, but not as much as Carry.
I have seen lots of folks who enjoyed this book, so if you like a dark romantic suspense, you might enjoy it!
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ARC!
Happy Reading!

This was my first book by Brittany Ann—and I’m officially a BIG fan!

Our FMC, Carrie, is a widow on the run from her past, and Grayson, our morally grey, hot, tattooed MMC, is a bounty hunter sent to track her down. Loved the he tension and equal obsession by both characters. The plot felt totally fresh and had me completely hooked from start to finish. If you’re into romantic suspense, this one is a MUST read or listen. The audio was great and the MMCs voice was HOT lol.

It ends on a wild cliffhanger that left me with my jaw on the floor. I’ll be downloading the second book in the duet immediately because I have to know what happens next. Where’s Carrie? Why was she taken? No idea—but I have full faith that Grayson won’t rest until he finds her.

Huge thanks to NetGalley for the ALC—without it, I wouldn’t have found this addictive story or a new author I can’t wait to read more from.

Thank you Netgalley for the ALC of this book!

Catch Me When I Fall is an intense dark romance following a women who is running away to start fresh in a small town and a bounty hunter who is tasked with finding her.

While the story technically spans around eightish months, it felt like the couple only spent a couple of weeks actually together before throwing out "I love yous" — which made their connection feel rushed and, at times, a little cringey.

The spicy scenes were very steamy and hot though!

There were strong emotional threads, especially with Carry’s heartbreaking past. Her resilience was beautifully portrayed, and she stood out as one of the novel’s strongest elements. I loved that the FMC could handle herself — and even better, that the MMC acknowledged this while still stepping up to support her.

Grayson was a refreshing character, and his profession added a unique layer to the story.

In saying that, the time jumps in the narrative made it hard for me to feel connected to the characters and their relationship. It would have been nice to see more of the conversations they were having rather then the author just telling us "they talked".

I do understand this is book 1 in a Duet so I'm sure we will find out plenty more in book 2, I would've liked to find out a little bit more about her father and husband and what they were involved with. There were some subtle hints but it just wasn't enough for me.

In saying this, I did enjoy the ending and am intrigued to read book 2.

Quotes:

"I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure you never lose your light."

"I know you're beautiful. You are a work of art, made to be admired by a man like me."

🎧Thank you Net Galley and Tantor Audio for the ALC🎧

Narrated by: Penny Li & Alex Kydd
Narration style: Dual
Written: dual POV, first person
My overall rating: 3⭐️

Before I get into my thoughts on the audiobook, I do have to say that unfortunately this book wasn’t my favorite. The pacing of the book was confusing. Very inconsistent time jumps which threw off the progression of things. I had a really tough time with the way their relationship formed, it all happened way too fast, but also over the span of almost a year? That being said, I do think the suspense part of this book was well done. I became less interested in the romance and more interested in seeing what’s going to happen! That for me is really rare because I’m usually more focused on the romance development. I honestly did go in blind to this story so I was actually surprised that this was romantic suspense (slight mafia-esque?) and on the darker side. I am not a big dark romance girl but this was just enough that I didn’t mind.

🎧: 5⭐️ - the audiobook truly elevated the story for me! I would likely have dnf'd the book if I was reading it physically.

-Narrators were both new to me and both gave excellent performances.
-Pacing and production were great and no issues there at all.
-Penny did an incredible job and I am definitely looking forward to hearing her narrate more!
-But WOW did Alex Kydd totally blow me away, his narration here was damn near perfect! He reminds me a bit of Joe Arden in the way he just breathes through his lines. It’s a performance - the breaths, the grunts, the growls, those little things make an ~grumpy/dark character come to life. He is easily a new favorite of mine.
