This heartwarming and thought provoking novel resonates long after the story ends. Alex ,a disheartened musician leaves the hussle and bustle of California seeking a quieter life in a rural, small town in Texas. He is quickly befriended by his noisy, down to earth, elderly Christian neighbor, Darlene. As there friendship deepens, neither expects their profound discussions about God, the afterlife and how to live in the moment will profoundly change each of them as well as others around them. I loved Darlene's quick wit, unheralded kindness and acceptance of her fellow man. Alex character was world weary seeking answer to what's next, why are we here, where do we go when we die. The combo of the two makes a beautifully written story which I enjoyed till the last word. Thank you Gordon Amick, Netgalley and 319 Press LLC for the opportunity to review this ARC.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I absolutely loved this book and enjoyed it to the last page. If I could give this more than five stars, I definitely would. I loved the small town and all of the characters. I felt like I knew these people and I sure will miss reading about their lives. I so enjoyed how the story came together and I loved the scripture in it too. The characters were all so honest and real and I loved them all! I highly recommend.
