What a lovely feel good read. I'm already a fan of Hannah Lynn and her other series so adding a new one is the icing on the cake. I absolutely loved the setting and looking forward to the next installment already. Fabulous

This is a light fun. Read that I flew through from beginning to end. Perfect for a day at the beach in afternoon by the pool.

A fun read about how an accountant from down South is seconded to sort out the muddled affairs of an elderly laird in a Scottish castle. Despite her best efforts, she becomes involved with the castle groundsman and after a few misunderstandings, romance ensues. An excellent read which finishes on a cliffhanger, so I eagerly await the next in the series.

Love loved loved this highland fling!
Accountant career driven Bex meets devastatingly handsome handyman Duncan while working for a mysterious man who needs his accounts in order. I loved the characters from the get-go, including the side characters - I thought the romance unraveled at a good speed, and there was an element of mystery which added to the plot.
There are some areas I felt there was no resolution on, but assuming (and very hopeful) these would be tidied up in a later book in the series.
It was a lot of fun, some laugh out loud moments and a couple of quite touching bits. A great feel good read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars — charming, misty, and moodily romantic… mostly)
A crumbling Scottish estate, a broody groundskeeper, and an accountant who wasn’t expecting feelings—welcome to Highland Hall.
Hannah Lynn kicks off her Highland Hall series with a cozy, feel-good romance wrapped in tartan, tea, and just the right amount of Scottish gloom. The setting? Delightful. The meddling sister? Peak small-town charm. The romance? Sweet, tender…but just a little undercooked.
Rebecca Barker, London-based accountant and spreadsheet queen, arrives at Highland Hall with a singular mission: save the estate from financial ruin. But she doesn’t plan on the quiet, steady pull of Duncan MacDuffrey, the flannel-clad, emotionally distraught groundskeeper who's ex-fiance keeps showing up.
The chemistry is there. The setup is lovely. And I wanted to feel the slow-burn magic—but the emotional connection between the leads didn’t quite simmer long enough to feel fully satisfying. It wasn’t insta-love, but it also didn’t develop with the kind of spark or depth I was hoping for. That said, Duncan is a swoonworthy MMC with a heart of gold, and Rebecca’s journey from big-city badass to small-town softie is incredibly endearing.
Where this book shines is in the atmosphere: think cozy lochs, muddy boots, warm pubs, and nosy neighbors who mean well (mostly). The writing is warm and inviting, and the sense of place is strong enough to make you Google “Highland estate fixer-upper.”
Tropes to love (and raise an eyebrow at):
🏴☠️ Grumpy x the Calculated Optimist
🏴☠️ Opposites Attract
🏴☠️ Workplace-ish Romance
🏴☠️ Found Family Feels
🏴☠️ Broody Scotsman Energy
🏴☠️ One Cottage, Two Hearts, and a Whole Lot of Tea
Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall is a comforting escape with plenty of charm, just shy of that full emotional spark.

Rebecca Bradshaw is working at a large accounts firm in London and is asked to go to Scotland for a few months to sort out the accounts for one of the firms clients. Hell bent on getting a promotion within the firm, Bex travels to Scotland. On arrival she realises that this job could take her a lifetime to sort out. The current laird Fergus, has a study in his castle which is overrun with old ledgers, paperwork, receipts and a lifetime of memories which have accumulated since his wives death some years before. The village is full of lovely characters including Lorna who becomes a fast friend to Bex and her step brother Duncan. The chemisty between Duncan and Bex is instant and I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop. I also really loved the setting of this book. I love all this scottish any any book being set in a castle is a bonus for me.
I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. It is the first book I have read by the author but I am presuming that she left the book open for others to follow in the series. I have an incling what is going to happen next and where this story was leading us, and I look forwards to reading more, and hope some of the other guys get a happy ever after.

Another cosy series from Hannah Lynn, I can't wait to see what happens next! This series follows Bex, who we have met before in the Wildflower Lock series.

Super cute quick read! loved every single one of the characters. this felt like the exact definition of beach read or vacae read. Loved the names too! no notes!

ARC Review: *Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall* by Hannah Lynn**
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5 stars — plaid, pining, and perfectly charming)
**Spreadsheets meet sweeping Scottish charm in this heartwarming highlands romance.**
Hannah Lynn launches her new Highland Hall series with a delightful opposites-attract story that wraps you in warm knits, village gossip, and slow-burning chemistry that simmers like a pot of tea on a rainy day.
**Rebecca Barker** is a no-nonsense London accountant with a plan—and romance *isn’t* part of it. She’s at Highland Hall to save the crumbling estate with cold hard numbers, not catch feelings. But **Duncan MacDuffrey**, the broody, soft-spoken groundskeeper with a beard worthy of a BBC period drama, throws her logic for a loop.
With meddling villagers, shared cups of tea, accidental moments of tenderness, and a *surprising amount of yearning*, this is small-town romance at its coziest. Duncan is the kind of hero who loves quietly and fiercely, and watching Rebecca trade stilettos for muddy boots—and guarded ambition for something softer—is a joy.
**Tropes to love:**
🏴☠️ Grumpy x Grumpier (but secretly soft!)
🏴☠️ Opposites Attract
🏴☠️ Slow Burn
🏴☠️ Small Town Interference
🏴☠️ Found Family Vibes
🏴☠️ One Very Broody Scotsman
🏴☠️ Workplace Romance (but with wellies)
*The misty loch, the village tension, and the sense of legacy make Highland Hall feel alive—and you’ll want to book a one-way trip to stay with the MacDuffreys yourself.*
A perfectly feel-good escape with just enough heartache to earn every stolen glance and every soft, unexpected kiss.
*Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy! I can’t wait to return to Highland Hall again.* 💙

Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall was SO sweet. If you are looking for a cute summer read with no spice, but lots of romance, this is the one for you. My fingers are crossed we can see more in this universe in the future!

I was obsessed with the Wildflower Lock series and the characters in that book and now one of the characters Bex has her own series and I'm just as obsessed. I'm desperate to read book 2, i already know its going to be good.
Hannahs books are so easy to read, I devoured this one in a day. I just fall into them from the first page.
If you have never read a Hannah Lynn book, pick one up, you won't regret it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this story of Bex who is Daisy's friend in the Wildflower Lock series. Bex has to relocate to Scotland for a few months to do a job for her boss and she's not looking forward to leaving London and being further away from her two best friends..
Good story but I felt it got a bit too soppy in the middle especially as it was about a Scotsman and they don't usually do soppy.
It also felt as if Daisy was driving to somewhere just outside Glasgow but it was the highlands, which are not just outside Glasgow especially if there are so many sheep on the road. I don't remember any other place names to tell me where Daisy was going. How far into Scotland? Near somewhere we would know?
All in all a good start to what I hope is a new series, just far too short a read.

Those who know me know I’m a sucker for a Scottish setting, and this one definitely delivered and the Highlands were beautifully described. I also really enjoyed the side characters that added a lot of charm. That said, the main conflict felt a bit empty for me, and the ending came out of nowhere, leaving things unresolved. If a little less time had been spent on the main character’s thoughts, there might’ve been space for a more satisfying wrap-up. A fun, cosy read overall, but I was left wanting a bit more.
Thanks for Netgalley for the ARC.

I really liked the potential this story had—it had the foundation for a compelling narrative and engaging characters, but unfortunately, the execution fell short for me in several areas.
I wish the author had spent more time developing Bex’s life before she left home. Chapter 1 jumps straight into her being sent off to work, which made it difficult to grasp what she was giving up and lessened the emotional impact of that transition.
In the first third of the book, I struggled to relate to Bex. She often came across as judgmental, making surface-level assumptions about those around her, which made it harder to connect with her character. This disconnect persisted through much of the story, and by the halfway mark, I was seriously considering DNFing. The central relationship felt shallow and lacked chemistry, making it difficult to become invested in their dynamic.
A large portion of the book is devoted to Bex's internal monologue about why she and Duncan shouldn’t be together, rather than showing us meaningful interactions between them. Because of this, the romance felt underdeveloped and missed the emotional depth that readers expect from this kind of story.
Additionally, I noticed a disconnect between how the book is being marketed and the actual content. It’s labeled as an "enemies to lovers" story on the author’s Instagram, but that trope doesn’t really apply here. The dynamic lacks the tension and emotional stakes typically associated with it. Similarly, describing Duncan as "brooding" doesn’t quite fit his character as written.
This story had promise, but ultimately, it didn’t land for me. With more development in both character background and relationship building, it could have been a much more engaging read.

A great start to a new series with lots of characters who I’m sure will have great stories in their own right. I love Ferguson and hope he will have a big part to play in future books. Bex and Duncan were a great couple and, although there are still obstacles in their relationship, they seem strong and there’s also an element of mystery with the photo of Duncan’s mum. Can’t wait for the next instalment.

This was a quick easy read. Some of the plot points were predictable, but I really enjoyed the connection between Duncan and Bex. I’m really intrigued to learn more about Fergus and his backstory, and to get a more resolved ending for Bex and her work up there. I assume we’ll be following Lorna (the stepsister) in the next book, but not sure that then ties into Bex and finishing up all of the accounting work and what she decides to do career wise. Some gaps for now, but may just be setting things up for the next book. I'm excited to continue the series!
Thanks to the author, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book!

Loved this book! The characters are a joy and the community is something you just want to escape to. The ending leads you to believe there may be another book with these characters and for that I’m hopeful!

Hannah Lynn's Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall is a delightful foray into the enemies-to-lovers trope, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Scottish Highlands. The story follows Rebecca Barker, a meticulous London accountant, who arrives at the dilapidated Highland Hall with a mission to restore its former glory. Her plans, however, are challenged by Duncan MacDuffrey, the estate's brooding groundskeeper, whose guarded demeanor hides a heart still mending from past wounds.
Lynn masterfully crafts a narrative where professional boundaries blur, and unexpected emotions surface. The tension between Rebecca's structured approach and Duncan's rustic charm creates a compelling dynamic that keeps readers engaged. The surrounding community, with its protective instincts and endearing quirks, adds depth and warmth to the story, making the setting as much a character as the protagonists themselves.
The novel's strength lies in its balance of humor and heartfelt moments. Lynn's witty dialogue and vivid descriptions bring the characters to life, making their journey from antagonism to affection both believable and enchanting. Fans of romantic comedies will appreciate the blend of lighthearted banter and genuine emotional growth.
In essence, Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall is a charming tale of unexpected love, personal growth, and the magic that can be found in the most unlikely of places. It's a testament to the idea that sometimes, the best-laid plans lead to the most delightful surprises.

Kilts and Kisses at Highland Hall
by Hannah Lynn
Rebecca, affectionately known as Bex, is a determined and career-focused accountant based in the bustling city of London. Her meticulous skills are put to the test when she’s dispatched to the scenic landscapes of Scotland to untangle years of disorganised accounts for the notoriously grumpy Laird Fergus, a man whose harsh exterior masks a deeper complexity.
In this charming setting filled with rolling hills and historic castles, Bex finds herself grappling with numbers and navigating the Scottish countryside's rugged charm. As she works alongside Duncan, the dashing groundskeeper with a heart of gold, an undeniable chemistry begins to blossom between them, igniting a slow-burn romance that keeps readers captivated. Sparks fly as their contrasting personalities collide—Bex’s determination and Duncan’s laid-back nature create a delightful tension that evolves beautifully.
However, I found the abrupt ending somewhat unsatisfying. It feels like there’s more to unravel, hinting that this story is just the beginning of a new series that may explore further adventures at Highland Hall and beyond. Having previously read *Forever Love at Wildflower Lock*, the fourth book in the Wildflower Lock Series by this author, I couldn’t help but draw comparisons. The sweet, patient development of Bex and Duncan’s relationship mirrors the enchanting dynamic I enjoyed in Lynn’s prior work. The rich setting and well-crafted characters enrich the narrative, making it a delightful read overall.

𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: Bex is anxious to get her promotion for all her hard work in the office, but her boss has one more task for her. Head to the Scottish highlands and help out a Laird fix his accounts. Bex meets Duncan, a hottie groundskeeper and ends up with more to figure out than just a bank ledger. 📒

I loved this story! I loved the setting, the characters, the curmudgeon of the castle that steals your heart. All of it!
I could totally see this being a movie. 🎥 My only critique is that the writing and story itself felt a bit underdeveloped, I would have loved to see more depth. Easy 5 stars if that was the case.
Highly recommend this feel-good, quick read.
