Amigurumi Critter is a fantastic resource. I have been crocheting for approximately 10 years now and am impressed with how clear and thorough this book is. While I do not agree that Amigurumi is for beginners at all, Amy Ting has put together a wonderful resource to not only learn this wonderful craft but to excel at it. She includes a wealth of information for even the most knowledgeable crocheter.
With clear pictures (that you can actually see what is happening) to the descriptive writing, you are sure to learn something with an end result that is absolutely adorable. Ting offers such great suggestions and recommends practical items (hobbii yarn is a wonderful brand and very affordable) but the way she explains everything is just so clear to the reader. I truly appreciated the delivery in all of the patterns as well as the other useful information included, even though most of it I already knew.
The patterns are SO CUTE! There are so many at various skill levels BUT don't let that scare you. You will eventually be able to create all of them if you follow along and use the lessons she teaches. Happy Hooking!
I received this as an advance reader copy from Netgalley and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily .

Thank you to Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for the advance copy.
This is an easy to follow, step by step guide to crochet.
I liked how it was broken down into 3 different difficulty levels and even had a QR code to scan!
I enjoyed the pictures and thought that made the guide even easier to follow.
I feel confident I can master any of the lovely animals listed in this book!

This is a crochet pattern book that absolutely delivers. It’s packed with clear instructions, step-by-step photos and the cutest designs ever; from otters and capybaras to spiders and penguins! 🥹 Even as a beginner, I found it super approachable.
A big bonus: it includes a QR code with tutorial videos, which is always a great help. I’m already planning to make Samson and Scott (the spiders 💜). Highly recommended for crafters of all skill levels.

This book is a fun book for those who are into amigurumi. The patterns are so cute and super fun to create for crafting anytime of the year. Amy Ting has done a really great job at articulating the basics and spelling out everything you need to know, including sharing her YouTube video channel for those that need a more visual way to learn if your skill level is more beginner. While there are quite a few easier critters to make, the author does stress the importance of having basic knowledge of stitches and patterns to be able to craft these cute critters. There are so many new friends that you can create, from foxes to sharks and sloths to sea turtles, you will have a zoo ready to go in no time.
As someone newer to crochet I did appreciate the setup of the patterns with the exact materials, techniques used and helpful notes from the author.

Amigurumi Critters features patterns to crochet 25 adorable little creatures. The book starts with the basics of crochet and helpful information about the supplies needed to create these adorable little friends. The patterns are broken out by difficulty level and the instructions are easy to follow and feature colorful pictures. The critters are absolutely adorable and I love that they each have a fun name.
Thank you to Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for the advance copy!

The patterns in this book are adorable! True amigurumi in the sense of using a tiny hook to work them. The difficulty ratings seem accurate, and each pattern has visuals to help with tricky bits. The overview at the beginning of the book also outlines helpful techniques clearly. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the eARC!

Great starting place for beginners to amigurumi. Easy to read and well written. I appreciate how the patterns are broken down with the imagery so visual learners can double check as they go along as well. Honestly can't wait to add this title to both the library and my own collection.

An adorable collection of crochet critters for the more talented beginner. Great info on what tools and stitches you will need to use to complete each animal. Contains 25 different adorable animals to create. If you are a beginner it has a ducky for your first attempt that is easier to create and to get you started. Great for a teen that likes crafts.

Super cute and easy to read book. The visuals and layout were also great and well-presented. I'll definitely be adding this to our collection.

Thank you to Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book and to give my review.
This is a colorful, easy to read, fun book if you want to learn to crochet, or if you are already an accomplished crocheter. I am a beginner crocheter and I found this book was perfect for me to follow along to and to understand. It’s wonderful for all levels of crochet enthusiasts. I am planning on making the frog first, and, if I have success with that, I will attempt to crochet even more of these adorable critters!

Thank you NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I am a big fan of crocheting amigurumi creatures and have purchased other books like this one, so I was excited to get to check thiTs out.
The patterns are easy to understand, and I truly appreciated the recommendations of what yarn (type & color) to use. I liked the difficulty rating for each critter. And the step-by-step instructions were very thorough.
I would absolutely add this book to my collection.
4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

If you love to crochet or want to start, it’s time to get your craft on. Amy Ting (@Curious Papaya) has put together a collection of 25 adorable amigurumi critters that you will want to crochet, including a sea otter family, an axolotl, sea turtles, and many more. If you have never picked up a crochet hook before, then it would be wise to learn a few basics before you attempt an amigurumi pattern. But that is all you need, a few basic stitches and Amy’s adorable patterns designed for novice beginners and experienced pros. Included are material and supply suggestions, step-by-step instructions with photographs, and links to YouTube videos for added support. Once you’ve finished these designs, be sure to check out her website for additional patterns and ideas at https://curiouspapaya.com/.

This is such a great guide. I love the visuals and the patterns for all different levels makes it a great way to learn and progress. I've been wanting to get into crochet animals and I think this just may be the perfect guide book!

Great book for beginners, this had a lot of information and great tips. I loved that it had so many pictures, I think that is really helpful.

This book is perfect for crochet lovers or for those who are ready to advance beyond the basic Woobles kits!
I purchased full kits earlier this year, and this is a great stepping stone for moving on to other projects. It re-iterates some of the basic steps and explains the equipment needed l but, assumes that readers have some knowledge of crocheting. While there are some videos for things like closing a piece, most pieces just show the pattern (without videos or further). The book does contain a lot of resources to help you along the way though.
I’m so glad I found this, as someone who loves the Woobles and is new to crocheting. :) The guides and pieces might be a little too beginner for more established crocheters though.

This book was SO cute! It was super informative, but also really easy to follow. The pictures throughout helped so much and made the whole craft feel so much more approachable and achievable.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for the advanced copy of this ebook in return for an honest and unbiased review.
I love to crochet and I love little critters that can be cherished by myself, or given as gifts. This manual was extremely easy to understand and gave pictures when appropriate. Sometimes, you find that people writing crochet books try to create their own language for stitches., which is highly annoying - but not here! Ting crafted this manual with art and simplicity.

This is such a great book!! It’s very easy to follow along and the instructions are very clear. The pictures showing any possibly confusing steps is a huge help. I can’t wait to make all the cute animals!

This is such a great book for people wanting to learn to crochet amigurumi! The patterns are all extremely clear and I love that this includes a whole section on basics because it's really useful when you're a little out of practice and need refreshers on certain techniques. It's also really nice that the patterns are organized by difficulty levels because it gives a way for the crocheter to know where they're at in terms of skills and what they can improve on. Highly recommend for all crocheters from beginner to intermediate levels
Thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the e-ARC!

As an avid crocheter I always love finding new patterns and things to make. These patterns are so adorable and the instructions are very clear. This would be a perfect gift for someone who wants to learn how to crochet. I appreciate the format of the book and how clear the photos are.
