Super cute patterns with clear instructions and helpful photos. I am so excited to make basically the entire book. Thank you so much! Would highly recommend to those with a bit of crochet experience under their belt.

This is a Kawaii book teaching you how to make the sweetest crochet creatures called Amigurumi. The layout is nice, the photos are great and the instructions are good. I think this book would be better as a papercopy for those who like to see vibrant photos. But e copies will be convient for those on the go and crocheting on the bus etc.
very cute book!

I love all of these!! I can’t wait to try them out. Now, if only I could get the magic ring down, can I get some of those??

Full disclosure: I have never crocheted. As I went through the book I imagined myself picking up crocheting as a beginner. Amigurumi Critters while giving basic information does state several times this is written for the intermediate beginner (one who has the basic steps). That makes me a novice.
As cute as the critters are (They appealed to my creative group project side.), the book is busy. The explanations, descriptions, and instructions are clearly written, however overwhelming. (I wasn't able to make a supply list.)
My rating is from a novice perspective, looking with inexperienced eyes, believing this would make a nice gift to a crocheter.
Amigurumi: The Japanese art of crocheting small plushies.

First of all thank you to Amy Ting, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me early access to these patterns! All opinions in this review are my own.
I am a low level crocheter and i loved this!
I made the duck and she is a bit misshapen but i still love her dearly! This is 100% to blame to my skill level. My mother (who crochets a lot longer then me) made a regular shaped duck!
It is easy to follow and wonderful to look at! I also loved the extra explanations that were in the beginning of the book!
Just overall aesthetically pleasing and wonderful.
I didnt have time to test out more since im not that fast but it was great anyway.

This is such a helpful guide! I love the breakdown of the different tools, techniques, and difficulties. The patterns included are so darn cute and the book in written and broken down into such a helpful and accessible way for people new to this.

I picked up an arc of Amigurumi Critters as I’ve always wanted to learn how to crochet and felt like these little cute critters were such a fun place to start!
While I haven’t tried out crocheting yet, or any of the specific patterns, I did read the book cover to cover and appreciated all the tips and tricks provided. Amy really covers the basics of knots, yarn, needles and of course provides the patterns. It’s a great guide for anyone starting out that has a bit of a crochet under their belt, and she refers everyone to her YouTube channel for videos if you are starting at the beginning.
Thanks for the arc copy to review - all thoughts and opinions are mine :)

If you’re looking for a crotchet book with adorable fun creatures this book is for you! Easy to understand descriptions and very nice visuals makes the patterns easy to follow. I also appreciated the clear difficulty descriptions and that the designs were sorted by difficulty. So if you’re wanting to create adorable critters at home this book is for you!

Always love new crochet patterns and these are so cute and look easy to accomplish if you have some experience! Thank you!

If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at creating the cutest crochet creatures, Amigurumi Critters by Amy Ting is the perfect place to start (or continue) your crafting journey! With 25 patterns ranging from beginner-friendly to delightfully detailed, this book is a wonderful mix of guidance, inspiration, and straight-up joy. Amy Ting’s experience and love for fiber arts truly shine through in this collection. Her tone is encouraging and approachable, making the book feel like a cozy workshop with a crafty friend. I especially appreciated the detailed section on materials and techniques—it made trying out new stitches way less intimidating. Whether you’re looking to pick up a new hobby, add to your handmade gift stash, or just bring some soft and squishy joy into your life, Amigurumi Critters has you covered.

Such a cute book with awesome patterns. I am an experienced crocheter and these patterns look fun and challenging. This book may be tough for beginner crocheters. I can't wait to start working on these cute critters!

Such a cute book! The critters are all adorable. There are very clear instructions for all of them as well as all the basics too. A really pretty book with so many wonderful photos and illustrations.

These are adorable! The layout of this and all the information given to get started is great. I would have loved to have this clear write-up when I made my first critter last year. I think this will be very easy to follow along, especially with the nice layout of each line. For context, I'm a newer crochet enthusiast and this is great.
My only issue is the background and text contrast on some pages being hard to read. Overall, this will be great for beginners and children to follow along!

What an adorable collection of animals to crochet. This will appeal to kids and adults alike. Instructions are detailed and appear easy to follow. Lots of options for different skill levels.

I'm a beginner and just couldn't resist the cuteness of this book. I found the descriptions easy to understand and really appreciated the explanations given. If I have any criticism, it would only be that the sections that were white font on light background were rather difficult to read (reading in e-form, but experience tells me print would be difficult as well). I will update my review upon completing my first attempt, but I'm really looking forward to getting started on these cuties!

As a bookstagram crocheter, there was no better pick for 2025 Camp NetGalley than Amigurumi Critters: 25 Imaginative Crochet Designs by Amy Ting. This book is a total gem for anyone who loves turning skeins of yarn into squishy, adorable magic. 🐸🦊🐨🦕
The instructions are clear, beginner-friendly, and beautifully laid out with step-by-step photography that never hides the stitches—something I deeply appreciate. (Crochet friends, you know the struggle when someone's thumb blocks half the stitch? Not here!) Every pattern is thoughtfully explained, from materials to assembly, and the visuals make it a breeze to follow along.
I'm so excited to make the koala, the frog, the fox, and especially the sea otter family—they're all impossibly cute and completely giftable. Whether you're a total newbie or a yarn wizard, this book caters to all skill levels with helpful technique tips, customization ideas, and a joyful tone throughout.
This collection feels like a warm hug in book form. And best of all? The critters you make will give you that same feeling when you hold them in your hands. 💖
📚 As a fiber-loving bookstagrammer, this book brought together my two favorite things: reading and crafting. Highly recommend for cozy crafters, DIY gift-givers, and anyone looking to add more cuteness and creativity to their life.

As someone who loves crocheting and has been doing it for years, I adored this. The book is full of the cutest patterns, and I appreciated how the projects are organized by difficulty level. Each pattern is broken down into manageable parts, with small photos along the way that make the steps easier to follow.
I also liked that the book starts with a section on crochet basics, which is great for beginners, along with some useful techniques that even experienced crocheters might not know. For example, it covers how to make invisible color changes, which is something I wish I had learned earlier in my crocheting journey. It's also a great refresher for those who are more advanced.
One thing I did miss was an index or quick-reference page for the patterns. It would have been helpful to know exactly which page to find each critter, instead of flipping through the book to locate the one I wanted to make.
While the patterns are undeniably cute and the book is described as suitable for all skill levels, I found that many of them are more advanced than what I would recommend for true beginners. The techniques and shaping involved might be a bit challenging if you're just starting out. That said, the clear instructions and helpful photos do make the patterns approachable, especially for those who already know the basics and are ready to try their hand at amigurumi.

I was very impressed with Amigurumi Critters! I'm very new to crochet, and I knew that taking on an amigurumi project (again) would be challenging, so I was curious to how Amy Ting handled it. I really liked that the book offers QR codes to see the stitches done on video, as well as a thorough explanation of the techniques in the first chapters.
I was very impressed with the diversity of the amigurumis, and my favourite is Finnegan Fox, with the little cheek extension. I really liked how the patters were all unique, even with animals that are similar.
I really recommend this book to everyone from beginner to master, and I'm enjoying crocheting my little fox, who will have a place on my bookshelf

The amount of sharks and turtles plushies i will make, I will have an army of sharks and turtles. I love the techniques shown with photos and also in the patterns, it let's you know the page the techniques are on to flip back and forth with, just in case! Happy crocheting!!!
