The instructions in this book were clear and straightforward for us beginners. I appreciated the background to set the tone for the book, but didn’t take too long to get into the instructions. The pictures and the drawings on the pictures were extremely helpful. Also I appreciated the glossary of terms to learn how to read a pattern. With 25 fun patterns (and adorable names) I think this book is a great value to get your feet wet for learning to crochet.

I loved the diverse crochet animals in the book! I particularly appreciated the level progression, starting with the beginner friendly projects and gradually increasing the difficulty. The inclusion of clear instructions and pictures was also a huge plus.

So many adorable patterns. Patterns are over in and I love the added pictures. Overall, a solid guide to Amigurumi.

As an avid crocheter from a young age, I'm always drawn to various crochet books.
I loved Amy's intro and explanations for this book. I found the information she provided to be helpful and interesting as well. The use of QR codes in the book to link to various things was something different than I've seen before. I did try them out (and of course they linked to the correct places) but I'm curious how they'll hold up over time as links can change. I did love that the yarn she uses and links to has SO MANY color choices. It helps to keep the fiber artist from having to find an alternative brand for particular colors. (I think it would have been a good idea to suggest other yarn options from different places for accessibility though).
There is just enough information in the beginning of this book for someone who is relatively newer to amigurumi to learn how to make them too! I personally would consider myself to be at an advanced level so none of the information there was new to me, but sometimes those still function as good reminders and there are techniques listed there that not everyone knows about and are great inclusions to this book.
The photos throughout the book were super cute and I liked that we had close-ups and different angles to make them helpful in addition to adorable. I do, however, wish there were a more elaborate table of contents. I did go through the whole book to see what the various critter options were but then when I went to make the Otter I chose to make, I couldn't remember what page it was on. The table of contents for patterns only lists "intermediate-beginner", "intermediate", and "experienced", but not the actual patterns and what pages they are on. I've had some crochet books with limited table of contents that had an index I could use but this book did not include an index either.
Overall it's a good book but would definitely be handy to list the patterns in the table of contents and I'd personally also like to see the full list in the book description as well. Without the list of patterns included readily accessible anywhere, I'd honestly not have bought this book (now knowing that there are two otter patterns in it, I'd buy it, but that's only something I know from reading the full book).
Thank you to Cider Mill Press for the ARC through NetGalley!

The cuteness of this book!
I loved the variety of the animals, and that the patterns were ordered by level of difficulty, so you can work your way through as you build your skill set. I’m planning on starting with a duck, and then maybe moving on to those adorable otters if that goes well
I’ve been a knitter for years, but am a crochet novice so I found the technique sections VERY helpful - There are instructions (paired with helpful pictures for visual learners) starting with how to cast on to the best way to finish and all the steps in between
Thank you to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the arc!

This was such a cute book! I am excited to look at it when it is published and create some of the pattern. I love how the author has provided full color illustrations with clear instructions on how to create each pattern. Many books provide drawings or black and white images, but this book is easy to read and would be great for advanced and beginner crocheters.

This is the perfect book for anyone learning to do amigurumi (small stuffed squishy animals) or even just wanting to try out some new techniques. The pictures are lovely, the descriptions in the patterns are detailed and the cute commentary about each of the whimsical critters at the beginning of each is absolutely adorable! This book makes amigurumi easier for beginners and advanced cricketers alike to create seriously cute projects. There’s 25 projects to choose from with a few skill levels as well as clear introduction to hooks, yarns and basic stitches and even has QR codes that link to the authors YouTube channel if you need extra help. There’s author has thought of everything you need to be successful!
Thanks to Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review

A very great beginner book with clear instructions! Loved the patterns as they were really cute and easy to follow along. I do wish that the book didn't push the reader to buy a specific yarn and instead gave general yarn type and size instead.

This is a great and comprehensive crochet book. The designs are so cute (can we talk about the otters?!) and I want to make them all.
The instructions are clear and I love that each part of the amigurumi is in a different box. It allows me to organize more efficiently.
I like the idea of QR codes in the instructions at the beginning. It offers a quick and simple way to see how to make the stitch.
I wish though that the table of contents would offer the names of design and photo per skill levels to help the reader find what they want to make more easily.

This is such an informative book with the cutest crochet patterns. The patterns are clear and concise. Very easy to follow along. There are so many adorable animals to choose from. I need to buy more yarn now!!!

This book is so cute! I love the patterns and I also really like all of the instruction at the beginning. It can be hard to get started with crochet and it's nice to have all of this guidance and tips all in one spot.
My only qualm is the recommendation of one specific yarn type over another, especially when that yarn has to be ordered and not purchased in a store. It also tends to cost more. I know a lot of people who want to learn to crochet but cost is a barrier so they use what they can, and I think this book would be better served by providing hook size for DK and worsted yarn options so the book itself is more accessible to people who want to get started and are building a stash with free yarn or budget yarn.
Thank you to the publisher for a copy! I can't wait to make some of these!

This little crochet book exceeded my expectations. The step-by-step instructions and illustrations are very informative. Is excellent for beginners just learning how to crochet Amigurumi. The patterns themselves are cute and fun.

This is a really well written crochet amigurumi book. I looking through all of the beginning instructions and I thought they were well-written and laid out. The animals are all really cute and the instructions look well written. I love all the helpful pictures as well.

Thank you netgalley and Cider Mills press for the opportunity to try out these patterns!
I have taken a break from making crocheted stuffed creatures for a while. This book was very helpful with the QR codes that lead to YouTube videos on how to do certain stitches and how to connect items certain ways. Although the projects are small I would say this is good for someone who's kind of aware of how to crochet already and not someone who is is learning (just because of how small the items are plus if you don't have the right type of yarn is makes it hard to see stitches).. anyway, the items ended up adorable and I am happy to have some new patterns to pass out and take crocheting back up!

This book has a good selection of crochet animals to choose from with easy to follow instructions. Amy has done a great job describing all the basics and guiding the reader through each step. As a more advanced crocheter, I would have loved to see some more complex designs.

An adorable book for crocheting basic amigurumi, I love the way the patterns are laid out. They are very easy to follow. The Technique photos are clear and informative at the beginning of the book. I don't know anything about her blog, but I could see her writing style was very practiced for an internet audience.
I only wish there was an index page with thumbnail photos of all the patterns in the book. This would make it easier to revisit and repeat patterns in the future.
Amigurumi Critters would make a cute addition to a crafter's shelf. It isn't groundbreaking, but it is easy to access the patterns and the amigurumi are quick to crochet and put together. It would be a great teaching tool for beginners or introducing young crafters to crochet.
*** Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for providing a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. ***

I've done my fair share of amigurumi and so naturally I got curious when I saw this book!
It starts off with a detailed guide for beginners - techniques, how to start a new colour without that being visible, how to end a round seamlessly. There's also pictures included on how to tell which side of the piece you're looking at and the difference of yarn over on top or bottom - so the book does exactly what it sets out to do, include crocheters of every level.
I liked that the book focuses on Hobbii yarn - I've worked with it in the past and it is significantly thinner than the stuff I'm used to, but you wouldn't know it until you buy it because of how it's advertised. Here that difference is getting attention by recommending the proper needle strength. I'm also a huge fan of the necessary amounts being added - and not just "1 skein" of yarn you can't buy anywhere. Like this you actually get a good idea of how much you'll need and I definitively want to point out that I appreciate that!
Patternwise they're all relatively easy, even the harder 3 star ones - but they're for popular, cute little creatures. A penguin, a duck, a fox, a pug, turtles, otters.. There's a little bit of everything included. My favourite is the fox - I love the detail of the ruffled fur on the chest and the shape overall. Plus, I just started working on the turtle, it just looks like a fun pattern.
Overall a cute book!

Another Amigurumi book?
YES!
This one is, so far, the best well thought out and structured one I've seen!
Starting off with all the basic information you'll need to succeed, Amy Ting takes her time to really guide you through making your first Amigurumi but doesn't stop there.
Tricky parts to master the pattern can be found on her YouTube channel (QR code included!) She doesn't leave you hanging after you bought the book!
And she knows that sone may struggle to start, so you'll find some full tutorials on her YouTube channel "curiouspapaya"!
I'm quite advanced, but really appreciated the helpful tidbits to crochet my little Joey the Mallard Duck in just just a few hours, checking the pattern, with some scrap yarn.
Highly recommended this book for beginners who want that little extra help to overcome the fear of messing up.
But also advanced crocheteers who want to finesse their Amigurumi craft.
Thank you to Cider Mill Press for providing me with an ARC of this book via NetGalley.

Wonderfully written patterns! Super easy to follow, and quite a few included! I was excited to see an "ARC" with amigurumi in it, so I jumped at the chance to read/try a few patterns! Thank you for this opportunity, and good luck with your book!

Thank you to NetGalley, Amy Ting, and Cider Mill Press for the opportunity to read this arc in exchange for an honest review.
The illustrations and step by step instructions I found excellent and easy to understand. I had so much fun! I highly recommend this book to beginners and anyone who loves to crochet!
