Thanks so much to NetGalley for the free Kindle book. My review is voluntarily given, and my opinions are my own.
I had been just talking to my sister this past weekend about trying to make the switch from knitting to crocheting, so I was very excited to get a free copy of this book. I loved how detailed the patterns were and how detailed the steps were. There were so many pictures to help demonstrate the steps, which helps make things so much easier for visual learners.
I know lots of people who crochet and think this would be a wonderful gift for them. Definitely would recommend it to them at the very least!

I loved this book!
I made the pug and he is soo cute. Imsturctions are easy to follow, for beginners and advanced crocheters. Looking forward to doing more patterns!

This is a great beginner's book for crocheters! There is a guide in the front to explain many of the tools and yarns that crocheters use in their craft. Also included with it are step-by step photos of how to create common stitches, and how to tell the "inside" and "outside" of the project... as an advanced crocheter, this is something I see that many people get confused about when they are learning and do not understand why their projects are not looking like the pattern's picture. The patterns are written in US terms and are very easy to follow. I'm all for creepy creatures, so the spiders were my favorite, but I do like how well shaped the fox is too!
Overall, a beginner would get a lot of good information from this pattern book! However, a more advanced crocheter will probably not find them vey challenging, even the ones labeled as more difficult do still feel like beginner patterns. It states 25 patterns, however quite a number of them are all variations of the same pattern: chick, duck, hen, turkey, eagle, penguin.. they all look the same just different color variations & appliques added.

I have been crocheting for quite some time now, and I still learned new, interesting information for this book. Amy Ting doesn't simply explain the basics of crochet; she explains why things are done the way they are, such as what makes a circle rounder vs. a hexagon. She also includes something that is very rare: step-by-step guides for the embroidery. It is very common to follow very detailed patterns and end up with completely different designs because they don't explain how to make the face to make the yarn bend the way it should. This books carefully explains all the steps for its adorable animals. Can't wait to make them for myself. The otter family is first on the list!
Thank you NetGalley, Amy Ting, and Cider Mill Press for the advanced copy. This review is left voluntarily and honestly.

Amigurumi Critters has such adorable designs. As a beginner, I am still learning but I find the instructions easy to follow. I also like the qr codes that lead readers to the videos.I'll definitely try to complete at least one pattern. Thanks to NetGalley and Cider Mill Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review

Thank you Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for the eARC!
This book of amigurumi patterns is super cute and filled with lots of adorable crochet creatures.
The beginning of the book does a great job of explaining techniques. I’ve been crocheting for years and the way this book presented techniques with pictures made it super easy to understand! I really liked that there were different levels of difficulty included.
I’ve been looking for a frog pattern and I’m super excited to try this one!

This was an adorably fun book to read with all the information to start making your own yarn critters. I will definitely be trying out some of these crafts!

Such a fun book with the most adorable patterns I’ve ever seen! Seriously, I can’t get enough of the sea otter family — they are absolutely precious and worth the hook time alone. 🦦
As a beginner, I really appreciated how this book offers a wide range of options based on skill level. Whether you’re just starting out or more experienced, there’s something here for everyone. The patterns are clearly labeled, so it’s easy to find a project that fits your comfort zone — or one that nudges you just outside it.
The instructions are clear and super well laid out. I especially love the helpful notes in blue ink — they’re perfect for drawing your attention to important tips or tricky spots you’ll want to pay extra attention to. And the inclusion of step-by-step photos makes the process feel way less intimidating.
One of the coolest features? QR codes throughout the book that link to Amy’s helpful videos. It’s like having a crochet coach on standby whenever you need a visual boost. 💙
Overall, I love this book. It’s cute, easy to use, and full of charming critters that are fun to make and even more fun to gift (or hoard — no judgment!). Highly recommend for any amigurumi lover or crochet newbie looking for an inspiring, user-friendly guide.

An adorable and detailed booked with beautiful little creations with incredibly seeet back stories. As a crocheter in a mostly non toxic household, I love that the sponsoring brand is a cotton crochet brand. And so whilst options for alternative yarns are offered the base line is yarns made from natural materials, which I loved as I find it rare in most of the crochet books I’ve read. 😊 Also includes QR codes for video tutorials for some of the most difficult parts of the patterns. I also loved that for a part of the book that required plastic pellets, she provided a natural alternative - uncooked rice. Overall just an absolutely lovely book.

I'm a total crochet newbie and can only speak for the easy projects. That said, the instructions were incredibly well written, including all of the "newbie" details that explained how to stitch and read a pattern. I got so much out of the troubleshooting guide. My first couple of attempts might not be the prettiest, but I'm proud of them! Definitely on my holiday gift list to purchase for all my crafty animal loving friends..

I am providing this review as a crocheter with prior experience crocheting amigurumi.
This book is a great starting point for people with crochet experience who wants to try their hand at amigurumi. The author provides a helpful guide for tips and techniques that are important in amigurumi at the beginning of the book. The patterns are easy to read and understand and they are absolutely adorable! My favorite is Finnegan the fox.

This is a fantastic starter amivurumi book for the newer crochet artist in your life! The instructions are clear, there are pictures of each step to help show how things should look and some great tutorials on different techniques used in the patters! Not only that, but every pattern is clearly labeled with its skill level, so you can easily find patterns that match where you're at in your crochet journey. I 100% need a physical copy if this in my collection and can't wait to try out every pattern in the book!

The patterns in this book are super cute and I appreciate that none of them take very much yarn at all! I did not make every pattern in the book yet, but for the ones I did make, the instructions were clear and easy to understand. The photos also helped with further understanding. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review this pattern book!

This book is great. Patterns are easy to follow. Ready to purchase the physical copy as digital format is difficult to work with.

The amigurumi projects are all so adorable! The beginning section of the book is very detailed and easy to follow. I wouldn't recommend this for complete beginners, but if you already know the basics of crochet, this is a great amigurumi book.

Amy Ting hit the mark with Amigurumi Critters! It is a delightful, beginner-friendly crochet pattern book featuring 25 charming little creatures. The patterns are divided by sections for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. I appreciate the clear and concise instructions that have full color pictures taken at angles that allow for see the stitches. There are even QR codes that link to videos! Instructions for the basic crochet stitches are included and are very detailed and easy to follow. These little critters would be a great project for crochet clubs to make for distribution to hospitalized children and so much more!

Amigurumi Critters: 25 Imaginative Crochet Designs for All Skill Levels
By Amy Ting
I am in my 60's and have never learned how to crochet. I bought the supplies and have the desire but really don't know how to start. My niece lives with me now so I am going to have her show me, now that I have seen these adorable critters in this book!
Each little creature seems cuter then the next. The book shows step by step instructions or written instructions with plenty of photos to help the person along. It looks like I will need to know the basic stitches, then I can learn from there.
The book is divided into difficulty levels. Beginners, intermediate, and advanced. There is a section to show you techniques. The very beginning of the book goes over the tools and types of material that make the best critters for what you have in mind.
My favorite critters: shark (such a cute shark!), pair of otters with baby, an axolotl, an adorable fox, a beluga whale, a baby seal, sea turtles, a cute pug, a pink pig, and a pair of capybaras. Boy, I wish I knew how to crochet right now!
I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this gorgeous book! Definitely buying it!

Amigurumi Critters is an adorable and beginner-friendly crochet pattern book featuring 25 cute little creatures.
Amy Ting does a wonderful job explaining the basics of crocheting and breaking down each pattern with clear instructions and step-by-step photos.
This book is very easy to follow and thoughtfully organized by difficulty levels. It teaches crochet terminology, recommends yarn types and colors, and even includes QR codes for some of the patterns that link to Amy's helpful video tutorials on her YouTube channel (@curiouspapaya) for extra guidance!
I especially loved the charming descriptions for each critter - some of my favorites are Koa the Koala, Milo the Monkey, Merlin the Frog, and Dara the Dolphin! As someone who loves amigurumi and crocheting in general I’m really excited to try the adorable patterns from this book!
~Thank you to NetGalley and Cider Hill Press for the ARC!

Good compilation of animals. Some super cute critters and the patters look easy to read with good photos.
My only complaint is that there is not list/table of contents of each animal and the page they are on.

Amigurumi Critters by Amy Ting is filled with adorable little crochet amigurumi projects for beginners to advanced crocheters. With lots of great tips, you can make an adorable little friend from the beginning.
The patterns were pretty easy to follow, and I loved the section in the beginning about tips to make your first project turn out perfect! However, I did notice some editing issues with the pattern I tried (Merlin the Frog) and I wish the abbreviations were at the beginning of each pattern, instead of the beginning of the book, so I did not have to flip back constantly. Overall though, the patterns were well written and the end results were adorable!!
