Let Me Out, where every door you open leads to another “wait, WHAT?!” moment. If you love Freida McFadden, then make sure this is next on your TBR!
Returning to your hometown should come with a warning label, especially when your childhood trauma starts acting like it never left. Annie’s trip down memory lane is less “nostalgia” and more “psychological mind games.” Twists? Check. Creepy secrets? Double Check A cast of characters you’ll side-eye until the last page? Triple Check.
If you love thrillers that mess with your head and make you second-guess everyone (including the family dog), this one’s for you. Trust no one. Especially not your gut - it will be wrong.

Let Me Out is a jaw dropping, page turning, edge of your seat psychological thriller.
I was hooked from the start! As an avid psychological thriller reader, I am usually fairly good at guessing plot twists, but this one really surprised me! My mouth physically hit the floor. I really didn’t know where the book was heading, but what a twist!! Best book I’ve read so far this year.
Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and the author for access to this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Let Me Out by Amanda Brittany had me totally hooked and drawn in from the very first page. This is a real page turner with so many twists and turns.
Quick and easy read, very well written and loved the plot.

Y’all! This one had me side-eying every locked door in my house. Small-town secrets? Check. Creepy neighbor moms? Check. A mystery that unfolds like a haunted onion? Double check. 🧅
Annie returns to Ridgewater—a place she’s avoided like expired yogurt—after her brother’s accident eerily mirrors her best friend’s death 12 years ago. Cue the ominous music and childhood trauma! And listen, Giselle’s mom? Still vibing with “haunted Victorian doll.” Natalie? Obsessed like it’s her full-time job. And Annie? She’s just trying to survive a hometown full of YIKES.
Amanda Brittany’s writing is crisp, atmospheric, and just creepy enough to make you squirm in your seat. The pacing? Smooth and twisty. The characters? Deliciously messy. The tension? So thick, you’ll need a butter knife.
By the time I hit the final reveal, my jaw was on the floor and I was whisper-yelling, “I KNEW IT… wait, no I didn’t!”
Thanks to Boldwood Books for providing this advance copy via NetGalley for my honest, voluntary review. #LetMeOut #NetGalley

Annie has avoided returning to her hometown of Ridge Water since the terrible night twelve years ago when her childhood best friend, Giselle, lost her life. But now Annie's brother has been injured in an accident identical to Giselle's, and she knows she must go back. Giselle's mother - still living in the house next door to Annie's family - is as creepy as ever, consumed with memories of her dead daughter. Natalie, another of Annie's old friends, is similarly obsessed, desperate to uncover the truth of what happened that night.
This is a cleverly crafted story that had me hooked by the end of the first page, and I just knew it was going to be good. The tension builds throughout. The twists can be shocking, I liked Annie, the main character. I was guessing throughout. There was also a creepy vibe. This is a gripping read and I found it hard to put down.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #BoldwoodBooks and the author #AmandaBrittany for my ARC of #LetMeOut in exchange for an honest review.

Anna left her home of Ridgewater twelve years ago, hoping to leave it behind and become a doctor. When she gets a message from her mother saying that her brother Elliot has had a terrible accident, she knows she has to return home.
Elliot has fallen from the local cliffs and is now paralysed, unable to speak, but aware of all going on around him. Anna is desperate to find out what happened to him. Even if it means she will be in danger. Because someone doesn't want Elliot to speak.
This book had so many different little mysteries running through it, but they all came together in spectacular fashion at the end. I had my theories about what happened to Elliot, Giselle, Natalie and Fi, but I was completely wrong each time.
This was such a great, twisty read. I look forward to what comes next from this author.

"I don't look. I never look. If I look it makes it real."
Let Me Out follows Annie as she returns back to her hometown after her brother had a mystery accident, rendering him paralysed. On her return, old connections are made and secrets are slowly revealed.
I don't want to spoil the book but some trigger warnings include: Abuse/Threatening Behaviour/ Violence, Mental Health issues, alcohol references.
I did enjoy this read. This was my first ever requested book to read and review and that was very exciting. It is definitely my kind of story, as a fan of the Thrillers/Mystery/Crime genres and this book matched the standards of other authors I enjoy such as Keri Beevis.
The pacing at times was a bit off. I found myself reading one day for ages, to other days only managing a chapter or two. The end felt extremely fast paced, with character seemingly to finally decide to be honest just at the right time. The main twist was great, totally didn't expect that coming! I also enjoyed most of the twists/reveals throughout this book.
Overall, I am giving the book 4/5 stars and would very happily recommend this book . I am very interested in reading more from Amanda Brittany and Boldwood Books!.
Thank you Amanda Brittany, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC!

Let me out was a wild ride of a thriller. Annie returns to her hometown after learning of her brother’s awful accident. There’s a whole ton of dark secrets brewing under the surface, and she finds herself thrust into the middle of several dramatic mysteries that she begins to unravel.
The characters were well written, and their interactions very fluid and believable. The plot lines were pretty captivating, if not a little far fetched in some instances. I was completely shocked with the twist though, and didn’t see it coming at all. Highly recommend.

Let Me Out by Amanda Brittany, Annie is a doctor in London but ever since the break up with her boyfriend she isn’t happy. So when she gets a text from her mom telling her about her brother Elliot who fell off the same cliff that her friend Gisele did and is now not speaking and seemingly paralyzed, she packs up everything and heads back to River end and Kent to help out her mom. The last time she was there her friend Gisele died after falling off of a cliff something that wasn’t so clear cut. Her and Giselle at one time were very close but when her mom claimed she became allergic to the sun and that Annie wasn’t welcomed in their home their friendship changed. soon after Annie arrives home her old friend Heather shows up wanting Annie’s help but when Annie’s help brings only anonymous threats she starts to second-guess it but soon learns she is in too deep to get out on scathed. if you think the book sounds good just know I haven’t even mentioned mysterious bartender Tom, how Giselle‘s mom wanted to be close to Annie after her return despite the fact everyone in town thinks Annie‘s dad died having sex with her, a girl who shows up from Australia looking for her sister who was last seen meeting a guy in Rivers end and so so much more this is what I call a banger of a book and I am so shocked there is only one other review for it on Goodreads because this is the type of book you scream from mountain tops how great the book is. If you are a fan of thrillers and mysteries then why haven’t you already read this book it is so so good and will probably be my favorite book I’ve read this year. there is no way you’ll guess the awesome ending! #NetGalley,#BoldwoodBooks, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestreview, #AmandaBritney, #LetMeOut,

I loved this book-I loved the characters, I loved the plot, I loved the twist at the end.
I thought I knew where this book was going, and had no clue. It was great and I really enjoyed it!

Annie hasn't returned to her hometown of Ridgewater in Devon for the last twelve years, always citing the pressures of her work as a doctor in London as the reason and putting that before her family, but the real reason is because twelve years ago her childhood best friend Giselle died. When Annie receives a letter from her mum saying that her brother Elliott has been hurt in an accident mirroring that of Giselle's, she knows she needs to go back to see if there's any connection and, with the help of another old friend, Natalie they start to uncover the truth, but there's someone that doesn't want the past revisited and Annie soon finds her digging is putting herself and her family in danger.
Let Me Out is the latest thriller by Brittany, told from various perspectives and multiple timelines, both past and present, this is another fast paced story that had me hooked from the start. This author weaves an intense and intriguing tale full of twists with well crafted characters that bring the story to life in this atmospheric setting on the edge of Sycamore Woods and, piece by piece, this multi-layered puzzle begins to take shape. This is a plot that kept me second guessing throughout and, just when I thought I'd figured it all out, along comes the mother of all jaw dropping twists that had me wondering if I'd missed something. A gripping and, at times dark read which I devoured in a matter of hours and one you definitely do not want to miss.
I'd like to thank Boldwood Books and Netgalley for inviting me to read this, I will post my review on Goodreads now and Amazon on publication day.

This was a twisty psychological thriller where buried secrets, creepy neighbours, and a haunting past collide. I loved the locked-room vibe and small-town chills.

If you name reference Freida McFadden in the book synopsis I will always try your book because I love Freida so much 😆😆😆😆
And actually this one didn’t disappoint! A super twisty fast paced read with lots of quirky characters, a mystery surrounding a cliff and many twists throughout! This is definitely what you would call a page turner.
I liked the main character and im always a fan of the “returns home due to a traumatic event that needs investigating” trope.
Thank you for the gifted copy i look forward to reading more from this author!

📚 E-ARC BOOK REVIEW 📚
Let Me Out By Amanda Brittany
Publication Date: June 29, 2025
Publisher: Boldwood Books
📚MY RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this #gifted e-arc -- in exchange for my honest review!
📚MY REVIEW:
Let Me Out is a relentlessly suspenseful thriller with an underlying sense of foreboding from the very start. With a feeling that something terrible is lurking around every corner, this book had me captivated with its heart-pounding tension and creepy mysteries.
This story was told from multiple POVs and over multiple timelines. There was A LOT going on across numerous storylines all at once, and the tension built slowly at first. However, as the book continued, the tension continued to increase and I COULD NOT put this book down.
Annie returns to her hometown after 12 years when her brother is in a terrible accident and paralyzed. Her childhood best friend, Giselle, died in a tragic accident years ago, ironically in the same place where her brother's accident occurred. Giselle lived in the creepy house next door to Annie's, and Giselle's mom still lives there. There is an Australian girl who went missing from the town around the same time Giselle died, and Annie has learned another friend was assaulted around that same time, too. Annie and her family are being threatened, there's creepy people watching her house from the woods, and she doesn't feel like she can trust anyone in this town. (I mean, can you blame her?!)
I loved all the different storylines going on, because I knew they were going to be intersecting at some point. And let me tell you, the twisty journey this book took me on was phenomenal! The twists were truly unexpected and absolutely unpredictable for me -- to the point I had to re-read some parts of the last few chapters to be sure I read things right. I yelled out "WHHAAATTT?!!?" at least 3 or 4 times, and I was genuinely THRILLED with the brilliant ways Brittany left me completely gobsmacked.
If you're a fan of unputdownable, twisty, and completely unpredictable thrillers -- you're going to love Let Me Out. I'm still thinking about some of its twists hours after I finished reading it, and it's one of those books I may just go back and read again so I can experience it all over again. With Let Me Out - my second read from her - Amanda Brittany has solidified herself as an auto-read author for me. Don't miss out on this book!

LET ME OUT by Amanda Brittany is a masterfully woven thriller that grabs you from the first page and never lets go. The synopsis sounded amazing, and the book did not disappoint. The tension is razor sharp and the pacing is perfect. Short chapters move the plot along at warp speed and make the book almost impossible to put down. And the twists are genuinely shocking—truly make for WOW moments.
We are introduced to an incredibly likable and endearing protagonist, Annie, who returns home when her brother suffers a horrible accident. Or was it an accident? That’s what’s also so fantastic about LET ME OUT— it keeps you guessing throughout. In addition to Annie (whom I loved) and her brother, we are introduced to several characters from Annie’s past, each complex and multi-layered, all harboring secrets. The emotional undercurrents—trauma, grief, guilt, survival—are visceral, adding layers of depth to the storyline. It’s not just about solving mysteries for our characters—it’s about confronting the past and the cost of keeping secrets.
Perfect for fans of psychological thrillers with rich characters and lots of heart, LET ME OUT is a chilling, gratifying read that stays with you long after the final jaw dropping twist. Highly recommended! Gripping, emotional, and truly unputdownable!
I want to thank NetGalley, Amanda Brittany, and Boldwood Books for gifting me the ARC of LET ME OUT! It was such a privilege to read this before publication. And I appreciate you trusting me with an honest review!

Woah what a read!! This pulls you in and from the very first page is gripping. With twists and turns throughout this in my opinion is a must read.
Annie is a burnt out doctor in London when she receives the news that her brother has been in an accident. There are similarities between his accident and the death of her childhood friend Giselle 12 years previously. Reluctantly she returns to Ridgewater and reconnects with school friend Natalie, who is looking for answers about an event that happened to her 12 years ago. When they learn that a girl went missing around the same time as Giselle’s death they start to look for the truth of what really happened. However the more they investigate the more it looks like their own lives are in danger. The depth of the characters, how they’re linked and interact with each other is brilliantly written. I seriously couldn’t put this down and loved how the story developed. Absolutely brilliant! Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC

The review below is already posted on Goodreads and will posted on Amazon once publication day had arrived on June 29th.
Let Me Out was a unique and tense thriller. I did not expect all the twists and turns that occurred while reading this book. I had a number of guesses that kept coming to mind for various things but I don't think I could have guessed what fully happened. It took a little bit for me to get into and to keep up with considering it changes points of view and timelines but overall, the book was well done and I was on the edge of my seat to find out what happened in all aspects of the story. I was also very happy with how it all ended.

Thank you net galley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Annie is VERY reluctantly returning to her childhood town after her brother suffered an accident leaving him paralyzed. Oddly enough the exact same thing happened to her best friend 12 years ago, only Giselle died. Annie can’t help but try to figure out what happened to her brother. However her brother’s accident sets off a chain reaction of decades of secrets coming to light wreaking havoc on everyone.

Okay okay okay. For the beginning of this book I was just vibing. Super interesting premise and story, I wasn’t bored per say, but I could sort of see the story unraveling. Or so I THOUGHT. Man when I got to the back 50% of this book I had WHIPLASH.

So many twists and turns. I’m not kidding I was thinking to myself “this isn’t the most twisty turny book, I can sort of see what’s going on here, but it’s still GOOD” and then Amanda was like oh that’s cute that you think so. I was a little confused by the Natalie plot line, and what it all meant. Could the story have been exactly the same without it? I think so. Am I happy it was there? Yes. I wish we had more insight into Annie’s life before, but that’s okay. If you like twisty thrillers ADD THIS TO YOUR TBR ASAP!!!

A fantastically well written story that oozes mystery and intrigue. Ms Brittany's writing style captivated me from the very first page and I look forward to reading more of her books. A well deserved 5 stars from me for this brilliant book.

Annie is a junior doctor, although at the moment she is off work, depressed and stressed. Getting a letter from her mother to say her brother has had an accident and is paralysed forces her to go home to Ridgewater, where she hasn’t been since leaving 12 years before.
A slow start but as it builds the story pulls you in, is what happened before going to happen again. With an unexpected twist this is a really good read.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the arc.
