What makes a family? This book is ideal for curious children who ask difficult questions about why their family is different to others. Told from the viewpoint of a curious dog and his intelligent bird friend, it looks at how varied families can be, how children become part of a family and the difficult topic of what happens when families separate. I really like the bright pictures and more complicated language being explained in separate boxes. The examples of conversation starters at the end are a wonderful addition to talk to your child after reading the book.
