A really useful book that goes through more than just the basics of politics. Its focus is often on the UK and our style of politics, but there is also a lot in there about different countries around the world. The history of different political systems is looked at, and there are some great 'You can do it!' features as well, which encourage the reader to get involved with political activism.

The tone of the book isn't hectoring or judgey of political institutions, but it does do a good job of looking at the pros and cons of different ways of politics and governance.

The style and presentation is bright and colourful. The information is presented in smallish chunks but doesn't talk down to the reader.

I'd recommend it for curious children (and perhaps to those of us adults who sometimes don't want to admit that we don't understand as much about politics as we pretend to!).

Guide to Politics explains many political concepts and terms and makes them accessible to young audiences who wish to understand the world and the politics of the adults better (pun intended).
The information is laid out in an engaging way that allows for focusing and consideration.
Will purchase for our library and recommend to teacher friends.
