This book wasn't for me. At all. I found the writing to be unpleasant to read. It was heavy, over the top and difficult to gain any sort of enjoyment from. The plot was slow and didn't grab me at all.

I was not really sure what to expect with this book. The cover is really cool but the first few pages seemed awfully silly. In fact the one criticism I have of this book is that the vibe in the first few chapters is quite light and silly, compared with the last couple chapters, not in itself a bad thing, but a bit more of the vibe of the ending chapters blended into the first third would have helped make the novel pull together better. That said, I really enjoyed this book. It is set in a realistic near future world, and has a nicely diverse cast of characters. The writing is a bit light on description, and there were maybe a few too many central characters to keep track of, but it still did work. Not quite 5 stars for me, but a solid 4.75 stars and one I will be recommending to my friends.

I will be DNF'ing this book. I was really struggling to get into the book itself due to the characters who were hard to connect to. I found the dialogue a bit distracting and it took away from the book for me. I would have loved to have loved this book, but sadly it just isn't for me. I find the worldbuilding hard to accept and understand as well. I keep feeling my mind wandering away from the pages and too something else and I feel that I would not be able to give a proper review that is fully immersive and true to the book.
As a positive I would say that I LOVE the cover and the title. It drew me in immediately!! I also found the actual murder intriguing and gory which is why I held out as long as I could.
As a fix, or some advice to keep in mind for the future I would say that the author might want to write more coherent and relatable characters as well as explain the world we are in better, It would help make the reading experience more immersive and gripping.

I will not be posting this on my website as I feel it is unfair to judge a book when one hasn't finished it.

This sounded great! But sadly the promise of the premise didn't hold, and I had to DNF before 50%.
Perhaps it would've helped to read the other books in the series but I also think it just didn't capture my attention/interest sufficiently enough to keep turning the page.

If you like short cosy mysteries set in the UK then this book is for you. Unfortunately I did not finish this book. It didn't keep my attention. It was by no means a bad book though, just not for me.

I'm afraid the eye catching cover was my favourite thing about this book.
It just didn't hold my attention at all.
It would definitely help to read the previous books
