This book was messed up, in such a good way! This has everything you want from a psychological thriller - mystery, creepy characters, revenge and mind games!

The one negative part about this book was that the first half was quite slow and felt a bit like nothing was happening. It didn't quite grip me and I wasn't reaching for it. However, almost literally exactly 50% of the way through...wow! A giant curveball was thrown, and I was shocked! I was hooked for the rest of the story and couldn't put it down!

The characters were brilliant, I had so much love and hatred for the different people involved. The second half of this book has so many twists and turns, it just kept you on edge the whole time. The ending was simply perfect!

It's a shocking, messy, creepy and cruel story, a must read for a psychological thriller fan!

Absolutely not the book for me, I couldn’t get into it at all and struggled to engage with any of the plot or the characters.

Book had an interesting premise. Imagine your mother is dead, but she can still speak to you. Sort of. Through letters. And explain what happened in the past that today is coming to haunt you. I enjoyed this book, and will definitely read more by this author in future.

After the death of her author mother, Mackenzie starts to receive strange letters containing extracts from her mum's diary. The story then unfolds and Mackenzie has to work her way through the mystery of who her mother was and what happened to her.

Sorry but I did not enjoy this book at all and was happy to get to the end. I felt the writing was bland and had no interest in the story.

This book was just fine. I think adult thrillers are too slow in general. If we got these twists earlier, had time to sit with them and see how it impacts the charactersl, it would be much better. I didn't care for the POV switches after we got fed up with the letters. It was weird and I didn't care about the characters.

Tonya is an icon though.

Love Mom is a very twisty read.
Mackenzie Casper has been in her mother’s shadow all her life but her mother has been killed in an accident. Investigators aren’t sure if it was an accident and if it wasn’t who wanted her mother dead? Shortly after her mother’s death she begins to anonymously receive letters. The letters are supposed to be written by her mother about life leading up to Mackenzie’s birth. The letters appear in different places so she is obviously being watched. At her mother’s funeral this is where she finds the first letter in her car but who was the man arguing with her father? Best friend EJ helps her investigate into her mother’s life but what they find is hard to believe.
This was a very twisty read and I didn’t see the twist coming. The characters weren’t that likeable except for Mackenzie and EJ. The book was a little slow around half way but picked up again to quite a solid pace. I haven’t read a book by this author before but will be looking out for them in the future.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

This blurb had me fascinated and so eager to dive in, so thank you for an advance copy!
I feel the story dipped towards the middle and I didn't find it as engaging, however, it then picked up again until the end where we get twist after twist. It felt like the ending was going to conclude quickly, but the epilogue was just great for revealing more secrets!
Great debut.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Mysterious letters received after her mum’s death lead the protagonist to question who her mum really was and what dark things she’d done in her past. Entertaining and unexpected

The book starts with a funeral followed by a letter from beyond the grave...

Throughout we follow MacKenzie as she tries to learn the identity of the letter writer and attempts to unravel family secrets.

Enjoyable but sadly I did see a lot of the twists and turns coming from early on. .

So, so good! Twenty one year old Mackenzie's mother, a famous and wealthy thriller author, dies in a fall and Mackenzie isn't actually too sad about it, having always had a strained relationship with her mother. The story begins at Elizabeth's funeral, when Mackenzie sees her father arguing with a man she doesn't recognise, and then she finds a note on her car seat, supposedly written by her mother and beginning to tell the story of Elizabeth's life in the lead up to Mackenzie's birth.

As Mackenzie and her bestie, EJ, undertake their own investigation and the letters continue to arrive, I was fully invested in going on their journey with them. All of the characters, love them or loathe them, were superbly written and the plot, with it's plethora of clever twists, was tight and fast moving.

The ending wrapped everything up beautifully and to my absolute satisfaction - I love some karma!

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Iliana Xander and Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House for an ARC of this book.

An excellent twisty and unpredictable psychological thriller. I loved this book even though it was a bit far-fetched in parts. Highly recommended- 4 1/2 stars

Mackensie is set to follow in her mum's creative footsteps until her mother dies in a tragic accident. Then on the day of her funeral a strange letter arrives, its her mother's diary but why is it being sent to her and by who? More arrive and secrets are set to be revealed. Just what is the truth of her family and how bad could it really be?

Wow this was such a good read. It had me hooked from the very beginning. Its a fairly quick read as well. The story is mostly told by Mackensie but we do get odd chapters by other characters to add a little more depth and context. This is full of so many clever twist, though I guessed at couple. The ending was so good and brought everything together brilliantly. I loved the very final twist, that was so genius and unexpected. EJ is a great addition and friend to Mackensie. A brilliant psychological thriller.

Love Mom is a suspenseful and emotional thriller that did well to keep me reading. It weaves the realities of grief and a suspenseful story together well and, while a few twists felt slightly far-fetched, the characters and layered secrets make this a great read for fans of family mysteries with a dark edge.

Love, Mom is a gripping, binge‑worthy thriller with a chilling concept and strong emotional core. If you’re drawn to domestic suspense, family secrets, and relentless twists à la Freida McFadden or Alice Feeney, this delivers. Just be aware: pacing and writing quality divide readers, and the ending may feel underwhelming to some.
