Thank you to Net Galley for this ARC! If you enjoy a magic-filled, cozy, spicy romance, A Witch and Her Dragon is for you! I enjoyed the low-stakes vibe of this book but there were definitely places where it lulled and I struggled to get through. I do wish we got more of the familiars throughout the story but overall, this was a solid read. If you’re a fan of the Legends and Lattes series, this book has similar vibes.

This one felt like being wrapped in velvet and secrets. A magical academy, a broody dragon knight with a hidden heart, and a witch princess who’s trying to write her own destiny? Yes please.
Alina just wants to graduate, master her magic, and maybe not be babysat by a grumpy knight with smoldering eyes. But Raelan isn’t just any knight—he’s her fated mate, her sworn protector, and also hiding a massive secret (hello dragon shifter). The tension between them? Whew. You can feel the sparks through the page.
What I loved most is that it’s not just spicy (though, let’s be real, it delivers there too). There’s this undercurrent of longing, loyalty, and all the messy “I want you but I shouldn’t” emotions that hit just right. Raelan falls first and hard, and watching him try (and fail) to stay distant had me kicking my feet.
Perfect for when you’re craving something cozy but a little dangerous, romantic but a little wild. If you’re into enchanted castles, whispered prophecies, slow-burn magic, and that delicious ache of forbidden love, this one belongs on your nightstand.
🖤✨Witch x dragon shifter
💫 Forced proximity
👑 Royal secrets
🔥 He falls first (so hard it hurts)
🪄 Cozy fantasy with a twist of spice
🌒 Honestly, I’d let Raelan guard my soul

Absolutely enchanted by this book! ✨
From magical academies to forbidden glances, it had me hooked from page one and staying up all just to read. Alina just wants to be a normal student—hard to do with a grumpy, gorgeous guard like Raelan (who has his own secrets and seems to want her at one moment then the next he’s pushing her away) by her side. The slow-burn tension? Chef’s kiss. Add in warm friendships, secrets, magic, and loyal animal companions, and I was completely spellbound. Also there’s a dragon and an arctic fox companion….need u say more? A cozy, romantic escape with just the right amount of spice 🌶️🌶️

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an arc copy of this! I absolutely loved it!!
Such a cosy but also spicy read this book felt like being wrapped in a warm blanket. 🥰
I love a shifter man they get me everytimeeee…
The only thing I’d say is that this book was very predictable but still satisfying! I always love a HEA ♥️
I do also wish that maybe the characters could’ve felt a bit more adult?? Idk if anyone else got the vibes that they were young but then all of a sudden they started drinking alcohol and I was like oh ok?? 😂 Alina felt so pure and innocent and sometimes I couldn’t picture them seriously! Still a cute couple nonetheless
Thanks again to NetGalley, so glad I read this :)

4.75 stars. I think that this book was truly brought to me at the right time. It completely hit the spot. The only reason it did not hit 5 stars is because I am not a fan of the back and forth between “I want you” and “I can’t have you”. This book was such a cozy fantasy book while still having the perfect amount of drama and action. I love when cozy fantasies go into depth about food and drinks. Like tell me more about these croissants you’re eating! Will definitely be reading the rest of the series! I think I am able to figure out the next book based off of some of the vibes between a few of the characters 😍

3,5 stars ✨
This book caught my attention the moment I saw the title, dragons are my absolute favorite mythical creatures, and I love stories with witches, so of course I had to request a copy. Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an Advance Reader Copy!
From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The world is enchanting and full of promise: we have a royal witch, an academy for magical training, spirit companions, and a broody personal guard who turns out to be a dragon shifter. How could I possibly resist a story like this?
Things I really loved:
▫️ The witch academy setting. I’m a sucker for anything set in a magical school or academia. I loved seeing Alina, a royal witch, navigate life at the academy.
▫️ Alina’s spirit companion is a fox and I love foxes, so this detail made me extra happy. 😍 I wish spirit companions played a bigger role though.
▫️ The roommate dynamic was adorable. Alina and her roommates clicked instantly, and it gave me that warm, nostalgic feeling of starting university and bonding with new friends.
▫️ Raelan, the dragon shifter and member of the King’s guard is assigned to protect Alina. The tension between them — Alina hating that she has a “babysitter,” and Raelan secretly struggling with his feelings — made for such a fun romance. He’s the perfect mix of protective and secretly soft. Their chemistry was so enjoyable to watch develop.
Things I didn’t love as much:
▫️ While the romance was center of the story I wished there was more focus on the fantasy elements, especially the academic parts. I wanted more scenes of potions, spellwork, magical training, and the general life at the academy.
▫️ The spirit companions had so much potential, but they felt underused.
▫️ The friendship with the roommates started strong but lacked deeper development and emotional growth.
▫️ Lastly, one thing that didn’t sit well with me is the mating bond between Raelan and Alina began when she was just 15. While the story doesn’t romanticize the age gap at that point and time passes before their relationship deepens, it still made me a little uncomfortable. 😣
Overall, A Witch and Her Dragon is a magical, romantic fantasy that fans of witchy academia and dragon shifters will definitely enjoy.

A Witch and her Dragon follows Alina who is a witch and a knight Raelan who is a dragon shifter. Alina is accepted into her dream school Coven crest academy but she is only allowed to go if she is accompanied by Raelan.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. There were a few moments where it got a bit slow but after the 60% mark, it really picked up!
I loved Alina's roommates and especially Raelan's family. All those characters were so sweet and made me smile every time they came up in the story. The writing was nice to read and good description.
The romance between Alina and Raelan was so sweet and the yearning he had for her was just chef's kiss!
I do recommend this book to anyone that likes the academy setting, royalty, witches, dragons and yearning spicy romance.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this copy!

I never feel good giving a less than a 4 star rating. But I couldn’t even get past 8% in this story. I’m not sure what it was but it read very juvenile to me. The writing wasn’t written in a way that flowed. Too much information was just thrown out in the first 3 chapters, not giving us time to adjust to the world and the main character.
I’m sorry, I just couldn’t finish.

This was a really fun and enchanting read that was filled with plenty of banter, great chemistry and emotional depth. I really loved the world building and the magic system - it was all really fun!

This was such a fun and magical start to the series! I really enjoyed the dynamic between Alina and Raelan, forced proximity, fated mates, and that slow-burn tension kept me turning pages. The magical academy setting felt cozy yet intriguing, and the dragon shifter twist added a unique layer to the romance.
Alina is a strong lead with just the right amount of sass, and Raelan’s protective, broody energy was spot-on. I would’ve loved a bit more world-building in parts, but overall, this was a solid,
spicy fantasy romance that definitely delivered on the tropes.
Can’t wait to read more in the Coven Crest world!

This book is a solid 4 stars. Everything about it kept me reading *forced proximity *forbidden love *romantasy *you’re mine to name a few. I rarely read books in one sitting but this was one of them. A hot dragon shifter wanting to claim the princess is a firm yes from me. Thank you Emberly Wyndham for giving me another mmc to list after. Now to go read The Witch and her Minotaur

✨️ Review ✨️
This ARC is a captivating blend of magic, romance, and intrigue that had me hooked from the first page. Set against the enchanting backdrop of Coven Crest Academy, this novel masterfully intertwines the lives of Alina Ravenscroft, a determined witch princess, and Raelan Ashvale, her enigmatic dragon-shifter bodyguard. The story has a lovely blend of coziness and danger, and the found family element gave it so much heart.
The writing had a lyrical quality that made the world feel lush and alive, and I found myself rooting hard for the main character as she discovered her strength and purpose. The slow-burn romance was handled with patience and care, which made the emotional payoff so much more satisfying.
The world-building is rich and immersive, bringing to life a realm where magic is both a gift and a challenge. The academy setting adds layers of intrigue, with its own secrets and dynamics that keep the reader engaged.
What held me back from giving it 5 stars was the pacing it dragged a little in the middle, and I found myself wishing for more urgency or conflict in certain places. Some of the side characters also felt underdeveloped, leaving me wanting more from their arcs.
Still, this book left me with a warm feeling, like being wrapped in a magical hug. It’s the kind of story that stays with you not because of epic battles, but because of its quiet emotional power. I’ll definitely be picking up more from this author.

I was instantly hooked by this enchanting tale of magic and unexpected partnership. The heroine’s bond with her dragon is beautifully woven. It’s fierce, tender, and readers will root for her every step of the way. Their connection grows through shared challenges, clever banter, and moments of genuine vulnerability that felt so real. The pacing is balanced with enough action to keep things lively and heartfelt scenes that build emotional depth. If you love found family vibes, swoon worthy magic, and a relationship that unfolds naturally, this one delivers all of it

Summary: Alina is a princess wanting more than just life at court, so she enrolls in a magical academy to hone her magical potential. Raelen is a golden retriever of a royal guard with secrets. Raelen is assigned to guard Alina while at the academy, where they both struggle with the arrangement. Alina wants to be a normal student. Raelen wants to stay away from Alina so he doesn't have to fight his feelings. When Alina is in danger, all bets are off and Raelen's secrets come out.
Review: Cute book. Short and sweet. Raelen is such a good guy, and we get a happily ever after. I gave it three stars because it was such a simple storyline. There wasn't intrigue. Every character was one-dimensional. Most of them were 'nice'. The villain wasn't even that bad, and there was no clear reason why they wanted Raelen.

When I ask for cozy, this is the kind of cozy I'm looking for! A wonderful afternoon read full of loveable characters and well-written romance. I can't believe I hadn't read an Emberly Wyndham book before this one, but A Witch and Her Dragon definitely left me wanting more from her, I love her voice.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this ebook, and by the time I reached the end, I genuinely enjoyed it! Going in, I had a general idea of the synopsis, but I somehow missed that it was described as a “cozy spicy fantasy romance.” Had I noticed that from the start, I think I would’ve clicked with the tone a lot sooner. As it was, I found myself struggling a bit to stay engaged around the 40–50% mark. That lull had more to do with my own expectations than the book itself, but I still think it’s worth mentioning, since it shaped my personal reading experience and my final rating.
That said, once I settled into the vibe, low-stakes fantasy, warm friendships, a touch of romance, and charming animal companions, it really started to shine. The cozy elements are blended beautifully with just enough heat to keep things interesting without ever overshadowing the heart of the story. Now that I know what kind of experience this author is crafting, I’m fully on board and excited to see where the series goes next. I’d absolutely read more from them.
If you’re someone who enjoys Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree or The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst, this book will likely be right up your alley. It leans into that comforting, feel-good magic with relatable characters, a soft and satisfying romance, and the kind of world you’d want to curl up in with a blanket and tea. I especially adored the main character’s bond with her friends and the delightful animal companions that added so much warmth to the story.
In short: if you’re craving something cozy, a little spicy, and full of heart, this is definitely worth a spot on your TBR.

4’5/5⭐️ First of all, thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for an arc of “A witch and her dragon”. Omg, i absolutely loved this book!! Books related to dragons are always my weakness, and this book didn’t disappoint! The only reason I don’t give this book 5 stars is because it was a bit too spicy for my liking and because I wish the story between Alina and Raelan was longer…But nonetheless, I couldn’t put this book down, highly recommend if you want a romance book between a witch and her dragon!

Alina, Princess and Witch, is ready to enter the world and begin her magical education at Coven Crest Academy. Theres only one catch, her grandfather the King insists on her being tailed by a bodyguard. Raelan owes his life to the King but is hiding a secret - he’s a dragon shifter and his need to claim Alina as his own is becoming all consuming. As they spend more time together the tension grows - can Alina be trusted with his secret?
This book was exactly what I needed - low stakes, spice and cosy vibes! Alina’s room mates were really fun to read about and I hope we see more of them in the next standalone novel. The magic system is also well thought out although I’d like to know more about the spirit companions, Yuki was a proper cutie!

This book is a simple straightforward easy read. It did take me some time for me to be immersed and I didn’t fully connect to the characters, they just didn’t feel as fully flushed out as I prefer. Glad I read this book and am thankful I was given this arc through NetGalley.

Rating: 4 stars
I got the ebook for this as an early copy and I really liked it by the end! Before I started, I knew the synopsis but had missed that it was described as “cozy spicy fantasy romance.” I love all those things, so it worked out for me ultimately; however, I think if I had known that ahead of time, I wouldn’t have struggled as much towards the 40/50% mark to keep reading. It’s definitely on me for not paying attention but it felt important to include here because it impacted my personal reading experience and therefore my rating. Now that I know, though, I’m excited to see what the next book does and would definitely read more of this author’s work!
If you’re into cozy fantasy with a sweet romance and overall low stakes, I think this is a great one! I loved the female main character’s relationship with her friends and the adorable animal companions. If you like the vibes of The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst and/or Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree, I think you could really enjoy this book!
