Firstly, thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK for allowing me to have an early read of this fantastic book.

The plot involves ‘Santa’ returning home after a busy Christmas Eve only to discover that he hasn’t delivered a very special present. The story is told in two voices- the young puppy who lives with ‘Santa’ or ‘Joulu’ as he is called in this book, and a young girl, Lucy, who is wondering what has happened to her Christmas present.

The description language is fantastic, especially during the long journey, and I can see lots of opportunities for teachers who could use this to inspire writing in the classroom.

However, there are many layers to this book which will appeal to children and adults alike. Without spoiling the story reveal for others I can mention kindness, feelings and environmental issues. The ending surprised me - but in a good way - and brings a whole new dimension to think about!

So yes, it is a Christmas book, but it is so much more!

This was the perfect festive read, I read it to my nephew and he loved every last bit of it. I absolutely adored it and it's the sweetest story, I Hope we can have a follow up to this now that Kado found Home. Will 100% be buying this for my nieces and nephews this year.
