Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
We meet Demi, she’s not had an easy life after the death of her husband and especially after she married again. We also learn more about Robson, who is the owner of The Jolly Pirate Pub.
They both have been through an emotional time and are both flawed, we read about their lives as they go through the highs and lows of their relationship.
Can they both get past what’s happened in their past and build a life together?
We also catch up with the other residents living in Port Berry, our old friends Ginny, Spencer, Matt, Jed and Alice.
This story touches on issues like mental health, addiction, grief and starting again.
Being in Port Berry, you feel like you’re amongst friends helping them with living their lives and being a part of a lovely community.
I highly recommend this book.

K.T. Dady welcomes us back to Port Berry in her new book Healing Hearts in Port Berry, book 5 in the series. In this book we meet Demi Carter Lewis and discover more about the life of Robson McCoy, the owner of The Jolly Pirate Pub. We follow them through ups and downs of their relationship. Can they overcome struggles of their past to find a life together? We also continue getting to know other residents of Port Berry such as Lottie, Ginny, Matt, and Spencer to name a few.
This book continues in the topics of mental health by focusing on recovery from addiction, coping with grief, depression, healing and new beginnings. The author writes realistically, authentically, and handles the topics of mental health in a respectful manner. In the Port Berry series you are immersed into the small town of Port Berry and walk with the characters through their daily life, supporting and being kind to newcomers and other community members, and coping with mental health struggles. Each of the books can be stand alone but you will be drawn into the warmth of the Port Berry Community leaving you wanting to read the whole series. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to visiting Port Berry in the future. I received an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Lovely summer read from K. Well written with a storyline that kept me from putting the book down. Highly recommend.

This is the first book I have read by K.T and I was happy to receive an advance copy. Demi has had a hard time, she lost her first husband when she was young and was left to bring up her young baby. She met Terry, they got married and he was good to her and Jade. Unfortunately Terry died and on the day of his funeral Demi finds out he is married to someone else and has a child. Demi loses her house, she falls and damages her knee and gets addicted to pain killers. Her brother Colin helps her and Jade but Demi ends up in prison for stealing. Demi serves her time ,gets out and she gets a bedsit and is determined to turn her life around and get Jade back in her life. Colin and his wife Alanna take Jade in and don’t trust Demi. Robson, runs the local pub, lost his wife a few years ago and runs a bereavement support group. Demi’s mentor suggest she joins the group. Port Berry is a close knit community where everyone helps each other. Demi gets a job in Robson’s pub while someone is off. Robson and Demi get close but they don’t want to damage their friendship. This is a book about community and love. I would highly recommend reading it to see what happens in Port Berry and especially with Demi and Robson.

K.T.Dady has magic woven in her fingertips i swear. because someone who can write the books she does much be magical in some way. her ability to pour such depth but lightness, serious but humorous, and love but heartaches all through her books to absolute perfection is just something special. i couldn't be more grateful for the skills some of my favourite authors bring to the world. little presents are each of their books. and Dady is right up there with the best, my best.
to be back with the Port is a joy. although i often wonder and fear there will be an end to this series and that never sits well! i know this place, i know these people. dont make them leave me.
you can read this as a standalone but why you'd want to i dont know.
there are once again some harder themes in this books. but they are once again handled like a pro by the author. and somehow you dont feel overwhelmed or full of doom and gloom, but instead full of warmth and hope.
Demi and Robson are both needing their hearts to heal. they've both been through a lot, too much and things noone should have to but quite a few often are. coming together is not going to be easy for each of them but the kindness and warmth with which we get to read their story with us just lovely. from the start you are rooting with all your might for them both together and as individuals.
and lets just smile that big grin you get from the charm of being back in Port Berry. oh i want to be adopted by the place and people in it. or at least come to visit...often! the charm and community hits you like a big hug and the wit and life it brightens is just all to gooooood.
another wonderful addition. its fits in snugly and perfectly amongst the others and can also stand tall as its own.

Demi and Robson are wonderfully complex, both carrying deep emotional scars—grief, addiction, and depression are central themes.Their relationship unfolds gently, rooted in shared pain and a growing trust that feels authentic and deeply earned. Rather than being weighed down by heavy topics, the story wraps you in warmth, striking a delicate balance between emotional depth and hope. The town of Port Berry itself is a standout—full of heart, vibrant characters, and the kind of community that makes you feel instantly at home.
This book is a beautifully tender story about love, loss, and the slow, courageous path toward healing. This is a slow, emotionally rich read with just the right touch of romance and realism. It is a quiet, soul-soothing journey that reminds us love can be found even in the most broken places.

Honestly, I was expecting something different. The cover and synopsis really caught my eye and I thought it was going to be a summer novel about healing. To a certain extent, it was just that, but in a much sadder way than I had imagined 😕
Everything happens in this book and the characters go through it all! If you want to suffer, this book is perfect for you because bad things only stop happening after 80 per cent of the book.
Despite all this, I liked the writing and the message the book wants to convey: our past doesn't define us, we should look to the future and take advantage of the second chances life gives us. 🫶🏼

Back again to Port Berry to visit characters old and new. Demi Carter is trying to start again after a traumatic event in her life. She meets up with Robson and her life starts to change even further. She ends up with a job a new roof over her head and many other commitments. It’s all falling into place now she just needs her family to believe in her again and she’s got it all.
Love this series and already looking forward to another visit.

This is the fifth book set in the charming little world of Port Berry, but don’t worry—you can absolutely read it as a standalone (though fair warning: you might want to binge the rest after!).
Healing Hearts in Port Berry touches on some heavy topics (grief, recovering from addiction, depression), but the author handles them with such care and warmth. Instead of feeling weighed down, the story feels like a comforting hug. It’s emotional, yes, but also full of hope, healing, and that quiet kind of love that grows slowly and sticks with you.
Demi and Robson are beautifully real, both grieving, but full of heart. Their journey isn’t easy, but it’s written with such tenderness that it’s both heart-wrenching and heart-mending all at once. I was really moved by how the story gave space for sorrow and second chances without ever feeling too heavy.
And let’s talk about Port Berry itself. Honestly, the cozy small-town vibe is everything. It’s one of those places you wish you could visit, full of a supportive, vibrant community that feels like a big, loving family.
This book is heartfelt, hopeful, and a beautiful reminder that healing takes time—and that love can show up when you least expect it. Highly recommend for anyone who wants an emotional but uplifting read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Joffe Books for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

A very moving story. Great opening and then wow. Gosh people deserve a second chance. I love being in Port Berry. You felt for the main character and her daughter . I am so glad common sense worked. I loved it. K T Dady is an an author who has really grown on me . Read it

Great story continuing on the port berry series. I really enjoyed hearing from the characters again, seeing what they’re all up to and meeting some new characters. I love that everybody has a past and life isn’t perfect, because it helps make the characters feel more real and flawed, therefore more believable.
I’d definitely recommend this one

I enjoyed this last Port Berry story. It reads fine alone. Both Rob and Demi are interesting characters who are overcoming past trauma and finding peace.

Needing a fresh start after the loss of her husband Demi moved to the coastal town of Port Berry. This was a fun, light hearted, easy read ~ perfect for a rainy day! Small town romance, second chances, friends to lovers ~ what more could you want in a book. I loved the setting of this book with the coastal vibe.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book, all opinions expressed are my own.

I do love this series and returning to it is a real pleasure. This book was a perfect summer read and I really enjoyed it. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Healing Hearts in Port Berry is the kind of book that feels like a comforting embrace after a long, hard day. It’s beautifully written, filled with warmth, healing, and the kind of love that slowly sneaks up on you. Demi and Robson are both wonderfully human; flawed, hurting, and yet so resilient. Their journey from grief to hope is crafted with such tenderness that it feels both heart-wrenching and heart-mending at once. I loved how the story balances sorrow and second chances without feeling overly heavy. The small-town charm of Port Berry is irresistible, with a vibrant community that feels like a big, loving family. It’s cozy, heartfelt, and a lovely reminder that new beginnings can come when you least expect them.
