When I picked up The Block Room, I was intrigued by the premise: a mysterious hidden room in an old building, secrets from the past, and two characters Dani and Dev, who each carry emotional baggage.
The novel follows Dani, who stumbles upon a concealed room while renovating a historic property. Inside, she uncovers remnants of a decades old love affair involving a spy and a betrayal that still echoes through time. As Dani digs deeper, she’s forced to confront her own guilt over a personal tragedy. Meanwhile, Dev, her friend and emotional anchor, wrestles with feelings he’s long kept hidden.
The Block Room a heartfelt novel with a touch of historical intrigue.

I really enjoyed this book. I really like books that have multiple points of view in them as it really allows me to get to grips with the story and the characters. I love historical fiction and I have always been fascinated by old buildings such as Mills etc that would have seen and heard so much., so I found this aspect fascinating too.
I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be looking for more from the author

I really enjoyed this novel. Despite it being a big book, you don’t really feel it because you’re enjoying it. I loved the author’s writing and I loved the characters. The chapters alternate POV’s and it’s done well. This is a very “human” story and I felt for the characters.
