This was such a cute and fun read. It's the perfect book to read over the cosy season. If you love small town/ grumpy Vs sunshine tropes, then you will love this book. I loved the easy to follow story and the place settings in the book. I also loved Sadie and Josh's spicy chemistry and the pacing was just right. Overall a brilliant novel that I highly recommend to other romance readers. I look forward to reading more by the author.
💝 Thank you to Netgalley, the author, Isabelle Popp and the publisher, #afterglowbooks/ Mills and Boon for my arc ebook copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Did the fun title and badass looking female main character sparked my interest in this book? Yes. 100%

The set up was really promising: Nice MMC, a grumpy and black clothing loving FMC, small town, a pumpkin weigh-off. Sounds like the perfect seasonal autumny read.

Unfortunately, two major points didn’t work for me.
One was the writing. It felt like a mouthful of words every time I read a paragraph. It didn’t really flow as nicely and I noticed that I either had to reread certain sections or that I was completely zoning out. Especially during passages about Josh’s tech stuff or Sadie’s textile work.
Two was the chemistry of the main characters. Or the lack thereof. I have rarely read a romance where the main characters barely or didn’t vibe, which makes it hard to root for them as a couple.

I stopped reading right after their first kiss, which, to be very honest, I didn’t even know how we got there. So regarding the romance & relationship, not sure what exactly happens in the other 60% of the book.

Realistically, if I have kept on reading, I highly doubt that the book would make it past 2 stars, maybe a 2.5 at best.

This ended up being a lighthearted cosy autumnal read, small town romance with a bit of spice. At first it didn’t seem like my kind of books it was very fast paced and I usually like to ease into the story with books but I slowly got into it. I couldn’t quite grasp the idea of the story at first, things with Sadie and Josh were nothing to all in very quickly which took me by surprise and the father daughter dynamic was quite unique. All in all an easy autumnal read!

Cute and cosy autumnal romance read with some spice.
Sadie, who has a strained relationship with her father is drafted in to help with his pumpkin patch for the town competition where she meets guy next door Josh.
I loved the pumpkin vibes and grumpy x sunshine trope. Josh and Sadie did seem to go from 0 to 100 very quickly and I would have liked to see a resolution with her father after the strained relationship however I enjoyed overall.

This was such a cosy autumnal romance book with a lot of heart and personal development for both Sadie and Josh, who were grumpy x sunshine in the best way. I did get a bit sidetracked with all the pumpkin talk but that’s because I’m currently growing my own pumpkins so it wasn’t a bad thing and I liked those little segues! I want to visit the small town of Pea Blossom in autumn! It was so vividly described and had such cosy vibes. The side characters were fleshed out and there were a few I would love to have a book about, including Sadie’s sister.

I really don’t like giving negative reviews but I have to be honest, I didn’t really enjoy this one. In the beginning, I thought the 2 x MCs had potential and I usually like Grumpy / Sunshine romances. Sadie’s career as a textile artist was interesting.

I think the main issue I had with Let’s Give ‘Em Pumpkin was Sadie and Josh were gradually getting to know each other and then suddenly out of nowhere, the spice kicked in. I’m not a prude, at least I don’t think I am but I want to feel like there’s actual chemistry between the two MCs before they get intimate. I felt like there was Slow Burn Sadie and Josh and Insta-Spice Sadie and Josh and instead of being separate stories, the pages got all mixed up.

In addition, Sadie has this complicated relationship with her father, Stu which was made her move to L.A. in the first place but the only scenes we got with them were via phone calls and I didn’t feel like there was any resolution. I did like the relationship between Sadie and her half-sister though.
