I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Whose House is This? is a beautiful picture book for children helping children to look at the natural world around us in a different unique way. Told in rhyming format, the book compares how outdoors are very much like our homes: grass is like carpet, rain cleans the earth, sunshine is natural light, etc. This book was beautifully told and fascinating to read. The back of the book has info for carers/teachers and has pages for children to draw their own ideas of how nature around us compares to our homes.

This was a great way to explain to my three year old why taking care of our planet is important AND why rain is good (he is at the "I don't like rain" stage). Now I can point to this book and say "Hey, remember? It helps our planet stay hydrated like we do!"

Whose House Is This? does a brilliant job of helping kids connect the dots between their homes and the planet we all live on. Through Leo’s eyes, we see how nature mirrors the comforts and functions of our own houses, making the message of environmental care really click. I loved how this book made my niece start looking at the grass and trees in a whole new way—it sparked conversation, questions, and even a mini cleanup project in our yard. Beautifully written, beautifully illustrated, and beautifully needed.

This book straight-up made me wanna hug a tree—and I’m not even kidding! 🌳
Whose House Is This? is like Dr. Seuss and David Attenborough had a baby and gave it rhymes, rainbows, and responsibility. I had the BEST time reading this with my little cousin—Leo is curious, the artwork is WOW, and the message? Chef’s kiss! It sneaks in big eco-ideas without feeling preachy. If your kid’s ever asked “Why should I care about nature?”—just hand them this book. Then go plant something. 🍃📚✨

This book is like a giant hug from Mother Nature herself—fun, fresh, and fabulous at helping kiddos see the Earth not just as a planet, but as the coziest, coolest house we all live in! 🏡🌿

A Beautiful Celebration of Homes—Big and Small
Whose House Is This? by Marcia Huang is a heartwarming and imaginative exploration of what it means to have a home, no matter how big, small, wild or cozy. As you read it, It help you see Earth itself as one giant house—where the carpets are made of soft green grass, the sky is our ceiling and the wind acts like a fan gently spinning above us.
Through playful tone and vivid illustrations, Huang introduces young readers to a this enlarged home—so different, yet serving the same purpose: safety, comfort and belonging. Just like humans arrange pillows on a couch or hang curtains in windows, birds build nests with twigs and beavers craft sturdy lodges in rivers.
This book gently reminds us that every creature, no matter how small, has a special place in the world. It encourages empathy and wonder and invites children to think about the beauty of nature and the many ways life makes itself at home.
A perfect bedtime story or classroom companion, it inspires readers to look at the world with fresh eyes—and maybe even feel a little more at home themselves on this shared planet and be more responsible.
