I had a hard time with this book but I’m sure it’s my fault because I hadn’t read the first two. I would like to try it again after reading the other books in this series. I usually don’t request a book unless I’ve read the others but this didn’t say it was the third. It looks like other reviewers liked it.

The Catch is the third in the Martha Munro series, and didn't grip me in the same way as the earlier novels did.
Martha and her team are waiting for a move by Tony Green, the former DCI turned underworld kingpin. Green had left the country but is now thought to be back in the UK. Intelligence suggests he is looking to liquidate his assets and leave the UK for good - but not before killing Martha.
Much of the novel is slow and involves plotting and planning with little action. It feels like the early part of a chess match as pieces are moved into position. The ending leaves scope for more to come, and hopefully the next episode will have more momentum.

First comes the win. Then comes the catch . . . For years, Martha Munro dreamed of taking down her mother’s killer. The charming, and rotten-to-the-core, DCI Tony Green. Martha exposed his corruption. The crimes he tried so hard to bury. Now he’s back with a chilling new obsession: burying Martha. A string of threatening letters land on the doorstep of Martha’s cozy Victorian terrace. Scrawled in red ink, the message is always the same: Die, bitch. Die.! Good book! This book had chilling suspense, gruesome murders, mystery, intriguing, action, and a few shocking moments! The story was very interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

The Catch by Michael Leese follows Martha Munro, who is determined to bring her mother’s killer, DCI Tony Green, to justice. The story is a cat-and-mouse game as Martha faces a barrage of threats and discovers that someone close to her is betraying her. I thought it would involve more of a story rather than just focus on Martha and Tony Green. If I hadn’t read the other books, I would have been confused.
The narrative was fairly engaging. Martha is a compelling protagonist, driven by her quest for justice, and her encounters with the cunning and corrupt Tony are sometimes intense. However, some plot points could feel a bit predictable, and at times, the pacing dips, causing the tension to falter.
Overall, The Catch offers a fairly thrilling ride with a few familiar tropes but still delivers an intriguing story of resilience and revenge.
I would recommend this book and this series. I would encourage others to read the first two books in the series before reading this one.

A storyline full of corruption and revenge.
Thrilling and exciting.
Great characters, very well written.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.

I wish I had read the first in this series about Detective Martha Munro!
She exposed DCI Tony Green for corruption, and now he has changed his appearance and is bent on taking revenge.
She has powerful friends who protect her, and they all adore her daughter, Betty, who had been kidnapped in a previous book.
All in all, it is a well thought out plot, and is tense, suspenseful and there is a little humour as well..... Julie's 'friendly' punches.

This book was nail-biting, addictive, gripping and jaw-dropping. It was everything that was promised and more and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end!
This will certainly won’t be my last Michael Leese book I really loved the suspense and twisty narrative of this book. I enjoyed it and I read it in less than a day. I was hooked from page 1, it’s a really well written psychological thriller you’ll never guess what’s coming next no matter how hard you try!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!
