Wow, this is the best short story collection I have read in a very long time. It is beautifully written and captures the long distance in relationships , both literal and metaphorical, so well. I also loved the world tour this collection provides, ranging from Rome to Paris to Istanbul and more. I can recommend this book to everyone but particularly all those who have lived far from their loved ones or struggled with the meaning of home.

It’s been a while since I picked up a short story collection - not sure why I fell out of love with the format, but I can think of no better author than Savaş to reignite that spark.
This collection centres on characters quietly moving through the world - exploring relationships with others, with ourselves and with strangers. Savaş captures the essence of human connection with such beauty and tenderness, it made me appreciate the fleeting, everyday interactions I usually overlook.
Set across Paris, Istanbul, Russia and beyond - she explores the experience of living abroad and the sharpness with which we perceive the world when we’re somewhere new.
I discovered Savaş last year through The Anthropologists which I adored - and now she’s firmly one of my favourite authors. Her writing is subtle, stunning and so perceptive. I can’t wait to dive into her backlist.
Thank you so much to the publisher for the gifted copy

Poetic, reflective, and beautifully intimate ✈️💭. Long Distance promises a quiet, thought-provoking exploration of connection, place, and identity. Aysegül Savas is known for her elegant, lyrical prose, and this novel looks set to be another tender, introspective journey about the distances—emotional and literal—that shape us. Perfect for fans of literary fiction with depth and grace.
