Another fab book from one of my favourite authors. I really enjoyed the plot line of this book. It’s a new concept for Slater and I enjoyed the more luxurious lifestyle we saw in this book. The characters were unhinged which is always enjoyable to read and you really didn’t know who to trust in the book. There are parts of the book I think could have had more depth, such as the story surrounding the main characters sister, but it didn’t ruin the book, I just felt there was potential for that little bit more during that part of the story. Would recommend!!

This was a heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat it was definitely one of the best books this year! It was fast paced, edge of the seat thriller that was extremely well executed. I was gripped from the very first page!

I loved the characters and the storyline. I recommend reading this book straight away definitely 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book had it all it was a wild ride of lies and deceit that had many twists and turns which lead to a great but shocking finale!

I was having a reading slump and this is the book that completely got me out of it... but now I'm gutted ive nothing else this interesting to get stuck into. Absolutely amazing, I read it long into the wee hrs and it was worth the exhaustion the next day. Its well written, the plot is just not what youd think. At all. The twists were genius! And I loved the characters!! They were human, vulnerable, realistic, not perfect and also not complete idiots just encouraging themselves to be victims. I cant recommend it strongly enough

Merri and Dev live their life together in a rental property in Nottingham, worrying about how they’ll pay their bills and survive financially from one month to the next, until suddenly their luck changes and they find themselves moving to start a new life together. A brand new state of the art home becomes theirs and they get to experience how the other half live. Unfortunately the life they expect to live doesn’t necessarily work out for them and they find themselves at the forefront of some unwanted attention.

This book was an easy read and was filled with a lot of suspense. I sometimes find that the switching between past and present tense can be a bit messy, however the author did this perfectly. I did find that the book felt like it dragged a little at parts and could have revealed some twists faster, however despite this I did still thoroughly enjoy it. I thought this had a good ending which didn’t leave any questions unanswered, however I felt it was slightly predictable, but it didn’t ruin the read for me.

Overall I would definitely recommend reading this if you like a suspenseful easy read thriller. Thank you NetGalley for my ARC.

Who wouldn't want to win the house of their dreams?
Well, for Merri this isn't bringing her the joy that you would expect. She has secrets that she wishes to keep buried, and that she is terrified will come out because of the publicity given to them due to their win. Even her husband Dev doesn't know her deepest secret.
Merri decides to give it a go, and they soon make friends with two local couples, and things seem to be going well. That is until Merri spies someone watching the house, and she has an uneasy feeling.
One day they arrive home from an evening out, to find that their massive glass windows have been scratched, and a message spray painted on them. This is just the start of a series of events that are both sinister and terrifying for Merri. Even Dev is starting to think that they aren't welcome by the locals. Who could have done this? Who can they trust?
This was a thoroughly enjoyable book, full of suspense and mystery. A1

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the advance copy to read.

I think we can all dream of winning our dream home at times, but this book really highlights that things aren't always as good in real life as we hope. The story follows Merri and Dev after winning their Dream Home in the Lake District. But what follows is a mystery that unravels from Merri's past and includes her present day.

The book is told from multiple POV's, the pace is relatively fast and the suspense is kept up throughout the book. Whilst I guess a lot of the twists, it was still an extremely enjoyable read and I found myself wanting to read on to find out how it ended.

If you like authors like TM Logan, Freida McFadden and John Marrs then I think this book is for you. It will make a great summer read by the pool.

I enjoyed this one! We all wonder what it might be like to win the dream house draw - how we’d live as millionaires, give up our jobs and have a fabulous life. However, we don’t all have Merri’s past and secrets - or do we?
The story never quite feels comfortable, constantly foreshadowing something dramatic and frightening and we get through a couple of murders before all is revealed.
A great psychological thriller! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read an advance copy..

I was lucky enough to get a chance to read this before it was published for an honest review. It was my first time reading a k.l slater book and I was very impressed. The writing was super immersive and the plot very well developed. The characters were intriguing and the whole book had this interesting what is going to happen feeling throughout. It focuses on a couple winning a house and the female character merri life comes crashes down because of it. Very worth while read

I was delighted to receive an ARC of this book as this author has become a must read for me. I love the way the author writes and her characters always feel vivid on the page.

Merri and Dev are happily married - poor but happy in their rented flat in Nottingham. But their lives are changed when Dev enters just one ticket into a lottery with a multi-million pound prize - a house in the Lake District. The title of the book gives away the favt that they win, but will uprooting their lives bring out secrets, both from Merri’s past, and from their new neighbours?

I devoured this book within a couple of days. Another fantastic read from Kim.

Another great book by K. L Slater. The Lucky winners Merri and Dev win a mansion in the national draw with this kind of wealth it seems to be a dream come true. However with secrets from Merri past and strange things happening will it be a dream come true after all? A fast paced book with twists and turns along the way. Thank you for advanced copy.

When Mary and Dev win a beautiful lake front home in the picturesque Lake District as the result of a last minute purchase of a lottery ticket, Dev thinks all their Christmases have come at once.

Merry knows better. Because there are some other things that Mary also knows which involve information that Dev is not privy to. And she has a sense that someone is watching them...

This is an absorbing read that maintains an atmosphere of suspense throughout. Definitely worth checking out for thriller lovers, it gets 3.5 stars.

Dev and Merri are the lucky winners of a mansion in the Lake District. After they move in they find that some of the locals are hostile and Merri has a feeling that she is being watched. The publicity about their win comes to the attention of a character from Merri's past that she is trying to keep hidden. Slowly Merri's past secrets are revealed.
I loved this gripping page-turner and recommend it to readers of the mystery/thriller genre.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

it’s everyone’s dream, winning the house of your absolute dreams but for Merri it’s not the fresh start she wanted. An explosive storyline from KL Slater who is a master of the last minute twist. There were so many people I was pointing fingers at throughout for who was messing with Merri and Dev and destroying their once in a lifetime house win but as usual not even I could guess what was going to happen! Short snappy chapters from multiple POVs keep the action flowing throughout. Another knockout of a thriller from KL Slater.

A pacy book that flips back and forth from today and sixteen years previously
In the present day Dev and Merri are living in Nottingham holding down poorly paid jobs and barely making ends meet. On their wedding anniversary Dev spends £20 on a ticket for prize draw where the prize is a dream house. Merri is furious at the waste of money but has to eat her words when, unbelievably they win.
The reality of their situation sinks in when they see their beautiful new home. It is huge, beautifully built with loads of glass and overlooks Windemere.
Shortly after moving in though it becomes clear that the locals aren’t happy and when one of their large windows is spray painted with red graffiti and scratched beyond repair they inform the police.
Merri is very uncomfortable a feels she is being watched through the enormous expanses of glass. It’s clear she is hiding something and has secrets from the past that look like they may be about to catch up with her.
A good read

Have you ever imagined what it'd be like if you won the lottery? When I was younger, I remember reading a stat about how it'd be more likely to get eaten by a shark than to win. And when I was older, I read about a study which showed many lottery winners ended up regretting it.

Merri and Dev are in dire financial straits. Sure, they have a roof over their head and they both have jobs, but they're barely making ends meet. And that's why it's so satisfying when they unexpectedly win a dream mansion house and a lump sum of money. But the phrase 'if it seems too good, it probably is' rears its ugly head quite quickly here. They quit their jobs and move into the wonderful new house, only to find the wider community mostly hostile to their arrival, and as for the few friends that they make, they just don't know whether they can be trusted.

Whilst Dev is thrilled and eager to give this new life a go, Merri has darkness in her past, and a good reason to not want her picture in the papers. She's gone to great lengths to move on from the person that she was, even changing her name. But being a 'lucky winner' makes her a target.

I don't want to give to much away, but suffice to say I really enjoyed this one. I felt very invested in the happiness of Merri and Dev, and really enjoyed how Merri's past was slowly uncovered throughout the narrative, leading to the explosive climax.

Thank you so much to Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House, and Netgalley for the ARC!

This really captured my interest with the scenario of winning a beautiful house in a lottery.
The author manages to portray the excitement and fears of someone thrown into a totally different lifestyle. Adding in a stalker and some unstable relationships makes for a suspenseful story with lots of twists along the way. A good read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for my honest and unbiased opinion.
