My my! What an incredible thriller this book is. Merri & Dev inherit a mansion in one of those "Qmaze" type competitions but once they move in the horrors begin.
Vandalised, stalked, hated. What have they done to deserve this? There's another separate story running alongside this about Merri's abusive childhood and the death of her little sister. This is genuinely an
"unputdownable" novel which I read in a day. And the twist is good too. Be careful what you wish for. Wealth isn't what it's cracked up to be. Excellent tense exciting storyline which would translate well for the screen too.
Highly recommended. Thank you to the author and Michael J books for the eARC. Denise x

A amazing book. Couldn't put it down. The storyline was amazing and the characters were so good.
So many twists
Five stars

Contemporary Suspense..
A couple seemingly beset with financial issues, a multi million house prize draw and a winning ticket. When Dev buys Merri a raffle ticket for a multi million house prize draw, neither of them expect to win. But the unimaginable happens and they do. As the dust settles, is there something in the background that is being kept a secret? If so, what, why and by whom? Nicely woven suspense with multiple threads, a pacy narrative and a contemporary plot populated with a well crafted cast and riddled with secrets.

OMG! What have I just read! This book is amazing!!! I loved the storyline, I loved the characters, the good ones & the bad ones. There's so many twists and turns, this book will have you staying up reading well into the night. I read this in one sitting. Definitely 5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As always another tense atmospheric great read from K L Slater
Very gripping from start to finish I read in day
Felt it lacked a bit of momentum half way but soon came back and it didn’t put me off at all
I definitely didn’t expect the ending.
I would definitely recommend to other readers any of the authors books are well worth a read please
Thankyou to net galley for the ARC

A tense dramatic storyline, fast moving realistic tale that totally grips you ,as you visualise each compelling chapter , totally living through the drama.A fabulous read, I loved it

I was completely hooked from the first page! This gripping, atmospheric thriller blends the dream of a fresh start with the creeping dread of buried secrets. Merri and Dev’s unbelievable good fortune quickly twists into something far more sinister, and the tension builds beautifully as the mystery unfolds. The setting is stunning yet unsettling, and Merri’s past adds real emotional depth. A compelling, chilling read that kept me guessing right to the end.

The Lucky Winners- K. L. Slater
Merri and Dev are a couple struggling to make ends meet. Life has never been easy for Merri and she carries around some dark secrets from her past that not even her husband Dev knows. There luck changes dramatically when Dev purchases a raffle ticket for Merri as an anniversary present and they win a stunning house in the countryside worth 3 million pounds and they also get a hefty cash prize. Dev is naturally ecstatic and finds it difficult to remain patient and supportive with Merri's reluctance to embrace their new life.
This move is life changing for them but their win attracts some negative attention which is what Merri has feared all along. Will Merri's dark past catch up with her and ruin her bright future and new start?
This is my second book by K.L Slater. I read "Message Deleted" earlier in the year and it was incredible.
Slater knows how to create a dark and twisty thriller and we are kept guessing until the end. Slater has also succeeded in creating a rich backstory for Merri and the more we learn about her past, the more we understand of her paranoia and keenness to remain anonymous. I really enjoyed this book. Tension was maintained throughout and you can really feel Merri's descension into "madness" as it's were as she begins to feel like a an animal in a zoo, vulnerable, on show and caged.
Thank you as always to @netgalley for the ARC and to @penguinrandomhouse for the approval for the ARC.
I am fast becoming a K.L Slater fan.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for an honest review. I was instantly hooked by The Lucky Winners and found it to be such a suspenseful and enjoyable read. I was literally guessing right until the end which is always a sign of a great story. The premise was really interesting and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. A deep and rather dark backstory for Merri, which added so much depth to her character. Overall a really good story that I will definitely recommend.

Fantastic thriller based upon a lucky couple who struggle financially who win a huge prize. Subsequently they move to the north but lots of events seem to happen which mean their win has had a detrimental impact on their life. Fantastic character development and a real page turner

With many thanks to Netgalley for this free arc and I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily
Only my second book by this author and once again I was completely hooked from the opening chapter. It's packed with tension and the setting and the house are wonderfully descriptive. A great character in Merri and her back story is as gripping as her current story. What I loved about this book is that at no point could I work out the ending which always makes a read so much more enjoyable. Some very good twists and an addictive solid read. I definitely need to read more books by this author

Really great book, love this author! It's a cool premise, it's always exciting when characters who are down on their luck catch a break...especially when nothing is set to go smoothly. This story was eerie and exciting throughout.

Great book - really easy to read and kept me wondering until the end. Relatable characters and great holiday read.

Everyone’s dream to win a beautiful million pounds house and a large cash sum. But what a nightmare it turned out for this couple! Very topical at the moment with the online competitions to win such expensive houses and cash prizes. The plot had enough twists and mystery to keep the reader’s interest and I found it hard to put down. A great read and highly recommended but it might make you think twice about entering a competition to win a million pounds house!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.

Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin Random House for the ARC of this book.
This was an interesting concept for a book given the current phase of "prize" draws. I think we all dream at some point of winning one of these or large sums of money in the lottery. It was a shame that Merri hadn't told Dev the truth about her past because these things always come back to bite us when we least expect it and the publicity of their win caused just that to happen.
The story was very well written and the cumulative happenings were very believable too. Such a shame because as they say "money doesn't buy happiness " and I think this book just proves that what we think will bring happiness isn't always the case.

The Lucky Winners was a thoroughly enjoyable read about a couple whose lottery dreams come true following a spur-of-the-moment ticket purchase. Merri and Dev find their lives completely transformed from financial hardship to luxury living in the Lake District but, with all the press surrounding their big win, shadows from the past begin to stir. Amidst growing tensions from jealous locals within the community and uneasy friendships, who is responsible for turning their dream into a nightmare? A fast-paced thriller with multiple lines of intrigue and a few surprises along the way. I particularly enjoyed the sense of paranoia which grew throughout the story but found a few character decisions a bit unusual or too convenient sometimes.
Thank you for the ARC.

Dev and Merri win a house in the Lake District, bur Merri has a secret that even her husband
doesn’t know about. Lots of twists and turns.to keep you guessing.

Dev and Merri get a once in a lifetime chance when they win the house of their dreams in a lottery - the chance to start over again, somewhere new. But Merri's past is just below the surface and bit by bit, it's coming back to haunt her. A clever who dunnit, with plenty of maybes. The twists were clever and kept me wondering to the end. Thoroughly recommended.

When Merri and Dev win a house after buying a lottery ticket they think their luck and life’s will change for the better.
Nothing is ever as good as it seems though is it. The locals don’t take kindly to newcomers who hav just landed in their feet.
Then there’s Merri’s past. Is it coming back to haunt her?
Secrets never stay buried forever do they!
I really enjoyed this book. It’s very fast paced and the characters well written.

I was thrilled to get this and I read it in 4 hours!! I adore K L Slater’s novels. She’s got such a way at witting characters that are seemingly innocuous but usually aren’t! Winning a house in a lottery has to a dream right?! We’ll read this and find out!! It’s another fab thriller with twists and red herrings galore, I loved it!
