Really 2.5 rounded up.
The title is catchy, which sucked me in.
It's about Lucy who is a bride jilted at the altar, but truly saved from the biggest mistake of her life; by none other than her dead-high-school-boyfriend's-best-friend. Asher and his brother ran into Lucy at her bachelorette party and she invited them to her fiancé's bachelor party. Yeah, that's awkward. Anyway, Asher caught the groom-to-be hooking up with someone, not the bride. And guilt over takes him and he stood up at Lucy's ceremony and objected the wedding.
Going from there, I get that Lucy is hurt, gun-shy from men, and seems like every time she gives her whole heart away something bad happens. But she has a crush on Asher. Meanwhile, Asher is having feelings for not the Lucy he knows in HS, but the Lucy as the person now. Anyway, you go thru the journey for Asher to come to terms with his feelings and courting Lucy. For Lucy to realized: wow, this is truly what love should be. That's all good and great, but! I feel like we spent too much time invested in Asher's brother Aaron and Lucy's BFF Madi's relationship development.
I also thought for the 3rd act, it was highly unfair. Again, understand where Lucy came from - a place of hurt- but to throw everything she knew about Asher both from HS and present day and think that Asher is as much of a f-boy as his brother was ludicrous and unwarranted.
Sorry I like Asher as a book boyfriend more than any of the characters in this book. He's understanding, thoughtful, polite, and worship Lucy. She almost throws it all away because her head is up her ass. Not to mention, their chemistry were dismal. They don't hold hands much, the kissing they do is very limited. I'm not saying this needs to be open door, but if Aaron & Madi has more steamy action than the main characters, which story am I actually reading here?
Thanks to NetGalley & Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this story. The romance is sweet. Asher and Lucy are great characters. Their path to HEA was a healing journey for a lot of reasons. I also enjoyed the happenings with the side characters. There is humor, love, family, grief, and growth in the pages. I will definitely read this author again.

I liked this one if you like Emily Henry you will defo like this
Could a blast from the past be the secret ingredient to their future?
Asher Wright has spent his career creating and concocting the perfect dishes and is about to open his very own restaurant. Life is good. His love life, however, is far from cooking! He hasn’t thought about Lucy Gray in years – not since they both graduated, reeling from the shocking loss of her then boyfriend and his best friend Kris, who tragically died at 18. So when he witnesses the breakdown of her wedding in all its humiliating glory - old wounds and long-buried emotions resurface.
As Lucy lands a right hook on her soon-to-be ex-fiancée in front of their entire wedding party, she has a moment of realization... Love is not on the menu for her! Fate, however, has other plans... A chance twist of events lands Asher as the private chef for Lucy’s spirited grandmother, Mitzi, and what begins as awkward encounters in Mitzi’s Portland mansion soon evolves into a simmering connection she never expected.
As Asher and Lucy work through their past they discover a bond that feels both familiar and excitingly new.

Third Time Lucky by Aimee Brown is a charming and laugh-out-loud romance that effortlessly blends heartfelt emotion with witty, authentic characters. Brown’s talent for crafting beautifully flawed people shines through, especially with the “he falls first” trope, which she nails with genuine warmth and humor. Asher and Lucy’s story is both tender and hilarious, filled with moments that tug at the heart and crack you up. The narrative’s mix of past heartbreak and fresh beginnings, set against the backdrop of delicious food and a quirky family dynamic, makes for an irresistibly engaging read. If you love emotionally rich romance with plenty of laughs, this book is a must!

This is an interesting story.
Asher's brother drags him to Vegas for his 30th birthday and he runs into a former high school friend. Lucy's there to get married - until Asher stops the wedding. She knocks out the groom and leaves - moves into her grandma's house. And Mitzi, her grandma hires a new cook, who happens to be Asher. I really tried to enjoy this story - but Asher and Lucy's characters seemed really sophomoric and their conversations are redundant - she won't believe him, he's talking to his dead friend. It just didn't work for me.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

A delightfully swoony romance, with just the right amount of drama, genuine connections, and a slow burn love driven by fate.
I adored the authentic characters, gentlemanly behaviour, sweet gestures, and all the tender moments, especially cooking together.
Mitzi was downright hilarious, and Madi is the supportive best friend everyone needs. I liked the additional drama between Madi and Aaron, and how they have their own complex relationship going on.
Asher and Lucy are so sweet together, and it was a delightful journey seeing them bond, and going through the awkward moments, the fears, and the reminiscing. It was a healing journey following Lucy's heartbreak and humiliation, and Asher was exactly the boost she needed to find happiness again and let go of the past.
Asher is definitely the MMC you will root for, with his charm and drive to do the right thing, plus he's a tall, talented and tattooed chef.

I have never read a book by Aimee before and I was pleasantly surprised as to how much I really enjoyed it.
The story follows Lucy and Asher who meet each other in Las Vegas on the eve of her wedding, after not seeing each other in over 12 years following the death of Lucy’s boyfriend and Asher’s best friend which left them devastated in their own respective ways.
But then events soon take a turn, ending with up with Lucy moving into with her Grandmother and her life in utter turmoil. Her Grandmother then decides to hire an in house chef to help cook their meals and it turns out to be Asher.
Lucy and Asher begin to hang out with each other more and start rekindling their friendship and try to get over the traumas of their past.
It is through rekindling of this friendship that they then begin to realise that they want more from each other, but with their respective issues hanging over them will they be able to break down these barriers and make the next step for a better future…..together?
Fantastic read, easy to follow and flowed so well. Loved how Asher just wants to look out for Lucy and be there whatever the issue. The ending is just so sweet.
This story has no real angst or tension between the characters and there isn’t any spicy scenes - it is all closed door when mentioned.

I recently read Still The One by Aimee Brown and I was excited to receive the ARC for this as well, and wanted to love it but unfortunately I got 60% in and had to dnf.
The premise of the book is amazing but the execution fell flat for me unfortunately. I didn't really feel any connection or chemistry between the two main characters, nor a build up to... anything.
There are a lot of really good reviews on this book, it's not a bad book, it's just isn't for me unfortunately

I really enjoyed this book! I loved that Lucy and Asher got to reconnect and deal with emotions of their past. I loved all the characters in this book too, Mitzi is just the grandmother we all wish we could have as she is just fabulous. I also really liked Aaron and Madi. I loved that this book is so heartwarming.
I would highly recommend reading this book if you love a good heartwarming book.
I would like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book early.

Asher and Lucy lost a best friend and boyfriend respectively when Kris died in an accident. A few years later they meet again in strange circumstances at her wedding.
This is a slow burn story, it doesn't grab you but equally I couldn't put it down as I wanted to find out what happened next. I liked both the main characters, which isn't always the case, however I couldn't feel the same about Asher's brother Aaron, who (literally) jumps from one girl to the next. There is a side story about him and Lucy's best friend Maid which definitely doesn't go smoothly but is an interesting contrast, plus the marvellous Mitzi, Lucy's grandmother. Not for you if you prefer fast paced stories, but great for those who enjoy slow burners .
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
We meet Lucy’, she’s getting married, and is on her hen night when she bumps into her friend, who she knew years ago.on the day of the wedding, she finds out her fiancé is a cheat, and the wedding no longer takes place.
After that incident, Lucy decides to live with Mitzi, her grandmother, so that she can get over what happened and decide what she wants to do next as well as take care of her eccentric grandma,
Her grandmother decides that hiring a private chef will help Lucy to learn how to cook, when the chef turns up, it’s Asher, the friend she met before her wedding drama. As time goes on, their feelings begin to change into more than being just friends, but neither of them is looking for a relationship.
Asher’s brother met Lucy’s best friend during the time of the wedding that never was, and they both begin to meet up which had some funny moments.
I loved the characters, especially Mitzi.
I recommend this book.

1.5⭐️ the idea of this book in theory was good, but the writing unfortunately wasn’t. It came across very amateurish and lacking. Not much character development, not much of anything really. The plot developments weren’t earned. The characters weren’t very likeable except Asher. Also wasn’t aware this was a closed door romance which isn’t a deal breaker for me but I think it would have helped grow a lot of missing chemistry if there was spice.

This was such a cute read. Rom Com fans will love it. I loved this book. It was such a cute and fun read. I even found myself laughing at times. I loved the easy to follow story and the great mix of characters. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more by the author.

I think this book has so much potential. It's funny. It has all the right elements but it has such repetitiveness. The characters are so likable. I hope the final edits are done to correct some things because this book could be great.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this arc.

This is a cute story. Lucy is getting married in Vegas with a 10K dress. Her former HS boyfriend died in a car wreck and his best friend happens to be in Vegas at the same time. Ash walks by and sees Brandon, Lucy's fiancé in a very compromising situation. As the wedding begins, Ash can't not tell her. Fast forward, Ash becomes the chef for her grandmother Mitzie, and they begin to rekindle their friendship. This is a very romantic story of people recovering from trauma and finding love. I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley, and this is my honest review.

2 ✨ There was potential in this story, and the shared grief between Asher and Lucy brought a unique aspect to their journey. This wasn’t a second chance romance, but a reconnection between old friends. The story just moved to painfully slow for me. There was so much telling and no showing. The declarations of love caught me off guard when there was so little time and interactions to establish that kind of connection. Maybe I’m just too cynical to believe genuine love can come from so little, but it makes the story unbelievable. This story will totally work for a lot of romance fans, it just wasn’t for me. Also, there were an odd amount of pop culture references, brand references, location information. It occasionally read like a yelp review or advertisement and that was a very odd choice in my eyes.
✨ Thank you NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and Aimee Brown for the E-ARC✨

Absolutely loved this. Asher is setting up his new restaurant and Lucy has managed to narrowly escape marrying a cheater all thanks to her old friend Asher who reveals her grooms secret.
Asher and Lucy are thrown together again back in Portland when her grandmother Mitzi hires him as their chef. The pair reconnect can they be Lucy in love at last?
Such a lovely easy to read Rom com with just the right mix of fun and romance.

A unique book that I really enjoyed.
This book took me on a unique adventure I am unlikely to forget anytime soon. It not only deals with difficult situations but difficult ways to traverse the situation as well.
I enjoyed how realistic a lot of the reactions were, and I appreciated how the author dealt with all the issues in the book.
It kept my happy and smiling through a lot of parts in the book.

An amazing romance of long ago friends who weathered a tragedy and a deliverance from a life of humiliation. The relationship of Asher and Lucy began again when they ran into each other in Las Vegas on the eve of her wedding. She does not marry the dirtbag and Asher and Lucy stay in contact. This is the delightful story of the changes in their relationship. A very satisfying and winning novel.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
