This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author. Must read

This one was a bit of a miss for me. While the setup had potential—Lucy reconnecting with Asher, her late boyfriend Kris’s best friend—the execution didn’t quite deliver the emotional depth I was hoping for.

Other than a cheating fiancé and a bit of bickering between the secondary characters, there wasn’t much drama or conflict. Asher and Lucy admitted their attraction pretty early on, and while they had some understandable reservations, the story mostly just followed them gradually falling for each other in a very low-key, predictable way. It lacked the tension or emotional pull that usually keeps me engaged.

Overall, it felt like I was just watching their relationship unfold step-by-step without much spark.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the advanced copy. I’m leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this arc.

This may be my favorite Aimee Brown book yet!

Third Time Lucky by Aimee Brown is a romantic comedy about Asher, a chef, with not a lot of luck in the past with love, and Lucy, his best friend’s ex from high school who just left her fiancé at the altar. When fate brings them back together—him as her grandma’s private chef—they’re forced to confront old feelings, past grief, and the possibility that a third chance at love might be the charm.

I love love Asher. He was a strong romantic character that was patient with Lucy. Lucy, herself was also strong through all her hardships. They were a perfect match. I was so afraid for a third act breakup but did like the way the argument played out. Will we get a side book about Aaron?

This is going to be one of the shortest reviews I've written, because I really don't have much to say about it (which I'm choosing to see as good).

It’s a really sweet romance with a well-developed backstory and quite fun characters, but I think it could be even better if it was showing more and telling less.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for sending me an ARC!

I was SOOOO excited to see that Aimee Brown had another book out. I love her work. All her stories resonate with me -- if not for the humor alone. So, I was surprised when I hadn't even been alerted of this new release or saw anything about it on the publisher's book club handles (thank goodness I logged into NG and saw). It baffles me the way this publisher promotes their authors--they rarely post on Instagram about Mrs. Brown or some of their other authors who I love, like Zoe Folbigg and Sandy Barker. Seems like they churn out and promote a selected few (like eating the same meal over and over again), which is incredibly boring and requires me to dig deep to find the gems. I can't be the only reader who feels duped and manipulated by publishers, am I? Why bury the great books?

Ho-hum, I must read on.

This book was so funny! Funny AF! Mitzi as the sassy gran was fantastic. The dynamic and laughs reminded me of that movie from the nineties... Something About Mary with Cameron Diaz. Asher and Lucy were the perfect characters for this story.

Bravo a thousand times. I really hope there are more, and that I see some posts on social so I don't miss the next release! Love this writer.

This was a cute friends to lovers (ish) story about two old friends, Asher and Lucy, bonded by the loss of their best friend/love as high schoolers and meeting again 10+ years later. It was fun getting to see how Asher and Lucy bonded over Asher's cooking job and seeing Lucy get ready to open herself up to love again. There was a parallel romance in Asher's brother Aaron and Lucy's best friend Madi. While we didn't get their POVs, we did get insights into their story too which at times felt a little like a distraction/I wish the time on page had been spent exploring the MCs chemistry instead. 3.5 out of 5 stars, rounded up. Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood for the ARC.

This book is such a fun, feel-good second chance romance! After Lucy’s wedding ends in total disaster (think: public punch and a runaway bride), she reconnects with Asher — her old high school friend and the guy who was there when everything fell apart years ago.

Asher’s now a chef, Lucy’s starting over, and thanks to her hilarious and sassy grandma Mitzi, they keep finding themselves in each other’s lives again. There’s awkwardness, chemistry, lots of heart, and some truly sweet (and steamy) moments.

Aimee Brown does a great job mixing humor with deeper emotions. If you love romances with a bit of history, delicious food, and lovable characters, Third Time Lucky is definitely worth a read!

This is a sweet and cozy rmance novel. It is a quick enjoyable read but somehow feels a bit dated. Maybe it is the language the brother uses or how he comes across as out of place but i still really enjoyed the story. Low spice but high on the mutual respect between mmc and fmc which I really appreciated. 3.5

What a cute little RomCom. I loved Asher and Lucy’s relationship given their history but his overwhelming sense of being good. Like he always has to do what’s “right” no matter the consequences and that is kind of annoying, as is Asher’s brother, Aaron; though he does provide some humorous moments.

Thank you Boldwood Books, Aimee Brown and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Third Time Lucky
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review of Third Time Lucky. Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher, Boldwood Books, for this opportunity.

Third Time Lucky by Aimee Brown is undeniably cute, filled with heartwarming moments and charming characters. While it wasn’t quite for me, I can see its appeal for readers who enjoy second-chance love stories and a slow-burn romance that takes its time to unfold. If you’re a fan of emotional build-up and characters with shared history, this one might just be a perfect fit for you.

I've never read anything by this author but I've seen their books recommended on IG.

Unfortunately Third Time Lucky was just an OK read. There were no glaring red flags but I just didn't connect with Lucy and Asher. I don't know if it's because for almost all of the book, they're pretty clear that they've got feelings for each other so there wasn't any will-they-won't-they?

Lucy and Asher were friends as teenagers because Lucy dated Kris, who was like a brother to Asher and it was Asher who had to tell Lucy that Kris had been killed in a car crash after the two of them were racing each other. They meet up again when Asher and his brother, Aaron stumble across Lucy's bachelorette party in Vegas and he ends up disrupting the wedding.

The only real conflict in Lucy and Asher's relationship happens when Asher's brother gets involved with Lucy's best friend, Madi. I'm sure Aaron is more than just a juvenile playboy but I just found his scenes really irritating. I did like Lucy's grandmother, Mitzi though.

I didn't DNF Third Time Lucky and it hasn't put me off reading other books by this author but I can't give it more than 3 x Stars.

Lucy has struck out in love twice now - first, when her high school boyfriend, Kris, died in a car accident, then when she learns (on her way down the aisle) that her fiance has been cheating on her. She's sworn to give up on romance and moves in with her lively grandmother, Mitzi.

Asher has been there through it all. As Kris' best friend, he was the one who broke the news to Lucy that he died. And he just happened to be there in Vegas and spotted Lucy's fiance cheating live, and broke the news to her then too.

It seems like two terrible encounters should be enough. But then Mitzi hires Asher as her personal chef and Asher and Lucy are thrown into spending lots of time together. Maybe Lucy will be lucky in love on try number three?

Cute, quick read that's totally skimmable.

Asher becomes the private chef for Lucy's spirited grandmother Mitzi. Their past is messy and filled with grief.

Love Asher and Lucy together. There are some sadness in the book but it's very funny and romantic overall. A very cute story.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Aaron me desespero.
