The Space Between Our Hearts is such a warm and heartfelt read that really stayed with me long after I finished it. Rindy’s story is one of finding hope and family in the most unexpected places, which felt so real and comforting. I loved how the book didn’t shy away from the tough stuff—like aging out of foster care and feeling lost—but balanced it with moments of sweetness and genuine connection.

Nolan and the group of friends felt like a true found family, and their support made Rindy’s journey feel hopeful without being cheesy. The romance was super sweet and slow-burning, which made it all the more satisfying to read. Plus, the small-town Tinlee Bay setting gave me all the cozy vibes, like you could almost hear the ocean and smell the salty air.

Overall, this book is perfect if you want a story about healing, trust, and the messy but beautiful way people come together. It’s honest, tender, and made me feel all the feels. Definitely recommend curling up with this one and letting it remind you that sometimes, home is where your heart finds its people.

This book is so incredibly special! It handles hard topics with care and empathy, and shows you that finding your people and your way in life looks different for each person and that’s okay.

I loved every single character in this book (except for one but there’s always got to be a bad guy right?) and they all felt so real and raw. This was such a wonderful book to read and it had me laughing (and crying) more than once. This book truly felt like being wrapped in a blanket and being told everything is going to be alright when things definitely don’t feel like they’re going to be okay🩷

Thank you to NetGalley, Whimsical Publishing, and the author for the eARC.

I really wanted to enjoy this one as I loved the premise but I just didn't enjoy it as I got pulled out of the book often due to me finding it very confusing as Wick and Nolan kinda felt like the same character so it got very confusing on who was who and what they were all doing. I also wasn't a huge fan on the actions of Rindy as the relationship between her and Nolan was essentially just built on lies because she was scared to tell the truth.

What a lovely book! I loved every second of it. Following Rindy's journey through the trauma of foster care and seeing how much she grew as a character. This book is addictively written and very accessible. I highly recommend it.

“Everything I own is inside this backpack.” So begins this heartfelt new young adult story about a girl who has aged out of the foster system and is wanting a place to call her own. A series of unfortunate events leaves her homeless in a new town. When she meets a new group of friends, including a boy she likes, she must decide how much to reveal and how much to keep secret.

It was satisfying and heartwarming to watch someone who has never had a place to call home find connection, friendship, and love across different types of relationships. My heart ached for all the difficulties and inner turmoil she experienced but that made the small, good things all the sweeter. It made me feel even more grateful for all the things and people I have around me as well.

There was one storyline that was left hanging more with less closure than I would prefer but overall a quick and satisfying read that is well suited for the target age group with no explicit content.

Trigger/content notes: homelessness, body shaming. Spice level is kissing.

This was such a heartwarming and beautifully told story, it truly had the power to warm your heart. I especially loved how generosity and kindness were woven into so many of the characters, making the entire world of the book feel comforting and hopeful. Rindy and Nolan’s journey was both touching and inspiring, and I found myself wishing the story were longer just so we could spend more time with them and see how their paths continued to unfold.
Thank you NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing me with this ARC.

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC of this book! Struggling to decide if this is a 3 star or 4 star read. I loved the representation of foster care that I have not seen in a YA book before, but other parts of the book seemed to progress incredibly fast. I enjoyed the book overall and it was a fast and easy read.

Wow! What an absolute beautiful story! I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this story but it made me feel so many things and see things from a perspective I’ve never contemplated. This is truly a wonderful story and so worth the read!

Those were my initial thoughts that one paragraph the above and this is more of my thoughts since having time to sit with this story for a bit. This story is so eye opening or was for me, as we follow Rindy as she is seeking to make a life for herself after living in the Foster Care system and it truly failing here. I was blessed with a loving family and it was so just revelatory to follow Rindy's story to understand from her perspective what life was like and how hard she was fighting to make a life on her own when everyone who should have taken care of her had failed her. Hannah does such a wonderful job of helping to portray this story in a realistic way.

When Rindy runs into Nolan, Wick and Lacie at the beach she wishes she could have friends and a life like theirs. Thought this was a strange first meeting for all of them they bring her into their friend group and she has to learn how to balance secrets with truths as she tries to keep her carefully constructed walls of safety up. Nolan however has different plans and Rindy doesn't know what to do as she slowly starts letting this boy who has shown more interest in her then anyone ever has start breaking down those walls. Will she be able to keep up here secrets or will it all come tumbling down around her?

It was really interesting to see Rindy's perspectives and how her understanding opens up as she learns that life is not as polished as she thinks it is for this new group of friends. I loved every interaction she had with this wonderful group of friends. Lacie is the BFF every girl needs and Wick was an absolute hoot! Wick was definitely a favorite of mine and I'd seriously love a story all about him just because that's how much I loved this sweet character who showed what it is like to be a true friend.

This story is such a great one! I believe you'd love this story if any of the tropes I listed above interest you! I think it's a great read and for me it was eye opening for someone who knows really nothing but general stuff about the foster care system. I feel for and love Rindy and was rooting for her to have things figured out and was so grateful for how the adults around her in this book helped in ways that made sense. I felt like this book was so well written and realistically done!

Thanks so much to Whimsical Publishing and Net Galley for the ARC of this story all opinions are my own!

The Space Between Our Hearts is one of those quietly beautiful books that gently works its way into your heart. It follows Rindy, a girl who’s just aged out of the foster system, stepping into adulthood without a real safety net. She ends up in the small town of Tinlee Bay, hoping for a fresh start—but when things don’t go as planned, she finds herself homeless and alone, carrying more than just physical baggage.

What struck me most was how raw and real Rindy’s voice is. There’s nothing dramatic or overdone about her pain—it’s understated, but deeply felt. She’s guarded, resilient, and not easily swayed by kindness because she’s learned not to expect it. But slowly, through the quiet, consistent presence of Nolan—a sweet, soft-hearted boy who sees past her walls—she starts to open up. Their relationship builds slowly, and it’s all the better for it. It’s not instant love. It’s trust, built moment by moment.

The setting of Tinlee Bay adds a warmth to the story that balances Rindy’s inner conflict. And I loved how the book didn’t just focus on romance—it also explored what it means to feel safe, to belong, and to be truly seen. It’s about healing from what you’ve never been given and learning to receive love without fear.

If I had to give any critique, it’s that I wished for just a little more time at the end to sit with the characters after their growth. But that doesn’t take away from how meaningful the journey was.

This is a story about survival and softness—about finding someone who stays, even when life has taught you not to expect that. It’s honest, emotional, and full of heart. If you enjoy contemporary YA with depth, slow-burn healing romance, and a powerful emotional core, The Space Between Our Hearts is a quiet gem.

The Space Between Our Hearts is such a fresh breath of air! The writing is lyrical and poetic and the story is full of hope and light. At the heart of Rindy's story we encounter themes of found family, and the deeply human desire to be seen and to belong. With Rindy's quiet perseverance, Nolan's heart of gold, Lacie's spunky confidence, and Whit's charming humor, reader's will feel at home in the pages. I would recommend this book to fans of Jodi Picoult and Laurie Halse Anderson.

Loved this book about belonging, secrets, and friends. Rindy has aged out of foster care and is now homeless. She decides to go to California where one night she meets some teens by a bonfire. She leaves and goes to sleep under a canoe. The next day she gets a job she applied for and runs into Nolan, a boy at the bonfire. The two spend time together, but Rindy never tells him she’s homeless. Nolan tells her he wants to leave the area after summer and invites her to come along. Rindy has a job and found a place to live. What will she decide to do?
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

The Space Between Our Hearts is a heartwarmingly charming novel that completely swept me away. From the very first page, I felt an immediate connection to Rindy, the protagonist. Her voice is honest, vulnerable, and deeply relatable. Watching her navigate her insecurities, fears, and longing for belonging made her journey feel deeply personal.
What makes this story stand out is how beautifully it captures the quiet, powerful ways love and connection take shape. Rindy and Nolan’s relationship unfolds with tenderness and the naïve nature of being young while grounded in moments of vulnerability and trust. Their story transcends the boundaries of a traditional love story—at its core, this is a tale about finding a family in unexpected places, and learning to let love in, even when it feels impossible.
The themes of found family, healing, and self-discovery are handled with such grace, making this more than just a romance—it’s a story about coming home to yourself. I was continually surprised by how nuanced and emotionally resonant it was.
I truly loved this story. Rindy and Nolan’s journey will stay with me for a long time, and I recommend this book to anyone who believes in the quiet magic of love that grows in the spaces between.

oh wow this truly is a book to hold and stop and breathe with. because it truly does touch the heart. and it capture so much feeling and human emotion within it. not to heavy, never too light. just real but within folds of a perfect story.
i hope many people get to read this book and i hope it made you all think and feel and love it like i did.
RIndy was so fierce in her need to find peace, but also do it alone or simply too afraid of being hurt so wanted to find her own way. but at the same time so much safety she new would come from someone, anyone seeing her, and wanting to look out and after her. and that person comes, oh he comes. and he comes in Nolan. but what has happened to Rindy so far in life isnt fair. and its kept coming no matter how far along or away from past hurts she thought she might be. there is so much to Nolan than first impressions or surface gains seems to paint him as. because under his own weight he might just be.
not only do we have these two beautiful characters but we also have a wonderful supporting cast too.
this book is just wonderful.

The Space Between Our Hearts by Hannah Stone is a heartfelt and tender story that beautifully explores themes of healing, belonging, and personal growth. From the very first pages, I found myself rooting for Riddy, a complex and guarded protagonist whose journey is both emotional and deeply relatable.

One of the strongest elements of the novel is Riddy’s development as a person. Stone does a lovely job of showing how she gradually learns to trust, love, and let others in after a life of feeling isolated. Watching her find the family she’s always deserved was incredibly moving and left a lasting impression.

The emotional depth of the story is complemented by a sweet and sincere tone that makes the book a comforting read, even as it delves into difficult territory. It’s clear the author poured a lot of love into these characters and their relationships.

That said, I did feel the ending was a bit rushed. After such careful and nuanced buildup, the resolution came a little too quickly for my taste. I would have liked to spend more time with Riddy as she stepped into her new life and embraced the growth she worked so hard to achieve.

Overall, The Space Between Our Hearts is a touching and memorable read that highlights the strength it takes to be vulnerable. It’s a beautiful reminder that healing is possible, and that love—both found and chosen—can be transformative.

Thank you NetGalley and Whimsical Publishing for the advanced reader copy.

This is a story about Rindy and the setbacks she faces as she ages out of the foster system, but it is also about how our past experiences impact the decisions we make in relationships, moving beyond the narrative we tell ourselves about who we are based on our past experiences, and defining who we are without external pressure.

I flew through this and was felt immersed in the story, and it has stayed with me after reading. It has inspired me to be more like her friend Mina, to read between the lines and offer help without judgement.

I do feel like there were a few loose ends, so would love to see the story continued in some way.

Can a book meet readers’ expectations and yet completely surprise them at the same time? That’s how I feel about The Space Between Our Hearts. I was privileged to read an advanced copy of the novel and knew from the moment I started that it would be the balm my heart needed in these turbulent times. What I wasn’t prepared for is how unique this story is, how real Rindy’s problems are and how welcome it is to have a heroine that looks and acts like someone I might befriend. I was deeply moved by Rindy’s story; everything about this book is wonderful.

Told from the first person POV, Hannah Stone puts us directly in Rindy’s mind and heart as she navigates life after aging out of the foster care system and continues to face obstacles most of us have never imagined, much less experienced first-hand. The intimacy I felt with Rindy helped me truly understand her mistrust of people and the decisions she made to protect herself. As scared and sad I was for her circumstances, I felt her history and experiences telling her to keep her private life private, and I agreed with her determination to make it on her own.

So often books show us people failing in life and we spend 75% of the novel yelling at them to do better, but Rindy’s story doesn’t follow that path. With the insight we have to every emotion she’s feeling, we doubt her new friends’ sincerity and question their loyalty right along with her. By the time the story finishes we have lived through every mistake and triumph Rindy experienced and are filled with as much hope and optimism for a new future as she is.

The Space Between Our Hearts is rich in characters you want to root for, beautiful imagery that puts you in Tinlee Bay right along with Rindy, and a happily ever after that feels like it will genuinely last a lifetime. If you want a beautiful story to challenge your misperceptions about people and help you feel genuine hope, this is the book for you!
