An ex Delta soldier gets pressed into destroying a deadly virus held in an ancient fortress in Syria, On the face of it, the job is nobody’s idea of fun but there are some fringe benefits, not least of which being owed one by the US government. The settings are particularly well sketched and the narrative simply keeps its foot on the pedal throughout. Some punchy dialogue and characters that you want to get behind make this an engaging and satisfying read.
