I really enjoyed this book. It made me feel emotions on opposite ends of the spectrum, hope and heartbreak, frustration and warmth, and I flew through it in no time. Despite being an easy read, it’s emotionally charged in all the right ways.

What stood out most was how true-to-life the relationship dynamics feel: messy conversations, imperfect choices, and small gestures that actually matter. The marital problems the characters face, miscommunication, everyday fatigue, lingering resentments, are super common, which makes a big part of the story genuinely relatable. And yes, Rufus (the dog) completely stole my heart; every scene with him added warmth and pull to the story.

Overall, a very good romance that feels authentic, moving, and surprisingly relatable. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes love stories that hit both the head and the heart.

A raw, emotional second-chance romance that had me hooked from page one. After a devastating crash, Levi wakes up twelve years in the past—back at the moment he lost everything. With betrayal behind them and the future crumbling, he’ll do anything to prove to Sloane that she’s always been the one. 💔➡️❤️

This is a heart-wrenching, healing, marriage-in-crisis story told from the MMC’s POV. Full of angst, redemption, and the slow rekindling of shattered love, it ends with a HEA—but the epilogue cracks open a dark, fantasy twist that sets up the Heretical Gods series.

If you love second chances, deep emotions, and romance that tests every boundary, this one’s for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Posh Pangolin Publishers for allowing me to read and review this book.

This novel drew me in from the first page. I enjoy a good second-chance romance, but One More Chance takes it to the next level by incorporating time travel, betrayal, forgiveness, and just the appropriate amount of emotional turmoil. I really enjoyed this story and its characters. But it's not all romance—there's also tension and even unexpected paranormal turns that keep you guessing. There's action, heartache, steamy tension, and those brief glimpses of hope that make you want to see these two get back together.

Thanks for this Netgalley Read!

This is a gripping story, filled with raw, tangible emotion, thrills and intrigue.

I love that this is written entirely from Levi's perspective. I found him to be painfully genuine, honest about himself and his flaws. I found myself quite emotional even in scenes early on in this story. This book is ANGSTY. Levi is messy, desperate and I was routing for him the whole way through. I love how he has changed himself, how from the very second he got his "One More Chance" he was working hard to set things into motion and to avoid making the same mistakes again.

I feel like Levi and Sloane's relationship is so real, so related. I love her as a side character and Violet and Liam are written fantastically, an edgy teen who still wants his parents, and a bubbly kid who brightens the room. I just want to say that Levi's love for them really comes across the page.

This book is filled with themes of healthy relationships, good communication, healing, bettering yourself and recognising your mistakes.

This was a really emotional read, I could not put this book down. Love love LOVE. What an excellent job, especially because this is a debut book.

This is a great story about redemption. Good story line that could've been cut shorter, but all in all a good read. Towards the end of the book, it seemed like the story just dragged on when it could've been wrapped up. The character development was really good, and I really was able to connect with all the characters. It was very well written. The book kept me interested and turning the page.

Picked this little beauty up on @netgalley . At first glance, this is a 2nd chance romance book, but MANNNNNNNN, does it go deeper than that!

It goes into detail of what makes a long-term relationship fail, from both sides. It's a 2nd chance at the MMC becoming a better person, a better husband, and a better father. He doesn't just use this opportunity to get back with his wife, he tries to fix every single detail of his life that he saw as a flaw, including the mysterious disappearance of his daughter.

This is the first book I've read that features the Covid pandemic, which feels like a million years ago since the first lockdown!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One More Chance is an absolutely breathtaking start to Reno R. Mist’s dark, emotional, and deeply moving psychological romance series. This book isn’t just about second chances—it’s about the devastating weight of regret, the hope found in redemption, and the courage it takes to love again after everything has been broken.

Levi’s story gripped me from page one. The premise alone—waking up twelve years in the past after a tragic car crash—was enough to hook me, but the execution is what makes this book unforgettable. Watching him wrestle with the guilt of past choices while being given the impossible chance to right them was both heartbreaking and inspiring. His love for Sloane is raw, desperate, and utterly consuming, and their journey back to one another is layered with pain, passion, and hope.

Sloane is equally compelling—strong, scarred, and rightfully guarded. The slow rebuild of trust between her and Levi felt so authentic, making every tender moment and spark of rekindled love hit that much harder. The family stakes raise the emotional intensity even higher, and the blend of romance, suspense, and the eerie bending of time kept me turning pages late into the night.

Reno R. Mist writes with incredible depth and intensity. Every sentence carries weight, pulling you into a story where betrayal cuts deep, love heals slowly, and redemption feels both impossible and inevitable. By the time I reached the final page, I wasn’t just invested—I was all in for this series.

Dark, gripping, and achingly romantic, One More Chance is the kind of story that lingers with you long after you finish. A must-read for fans of emotional second-chance romance with high stakes and unforgettable characters.

This absolutely consumed my attention from start to finish. I’m very impressed with this as it is a debut novel! My only issue was the cheating..

I’m not really sure how I feel about this one, especially the ending—it left me feeling a little confused. I had a hard time getting through it, even though I was aware of the trigger warnings and thought I’d be okay. Throughout the story, I kept having “ick” feelings.

Levi cheats on his wife, Sloane, and spirals down a terrible path. After several years, he’s killed—but instead of going to the afterlife, he’s brought back to life immediately after making his horrible mistake. He rushes back to Sloane, trying to win her forgiveness and do all the things he should have been doing before his cheating and revival.

Honestly, I don’t feel invested enough to continue the series. This story just didn’t click for me.

Thank you to Reno, Posh Pangolin Publishers, and Net Galley for the advance copy for an honest review.

We've all wondered, at some point - what different choices would we make if we got the chance to go back in time and have a "do-over". However, at least for me, that chance usually comes prior to making the decisions I would change. In this book, Levi wakes up days AFTER the affair is revealed and he wakes up in bed with his mistress. While he came with the knowledge from the future (ex. pandemic), he had already made the decision he could overturn. This was definitely an interesting take on the "do-over" concept and one I enjoyed reading through.

Made me wonder though - what changes would I make if I got a "do-over" but after the major decision(s) were already made?

3.75 / 4 stars!
Reno R. Mist's debut novel One More Chance delivers a raw and unflinching look at betrayal, consequences and the desperation filled hope of redemption. It's a dark gripping journey into what happens when you are given the chance to undo your worst mistake.
Levi wakes up 12 years in the past, just days after leaving his wife and family for the woman he was having an affair with that ultimately shattered their family. Levi knows what comes next- the pandemic, fallout from his choices and tragedy for his children. He vows to do everything differently. But changing the past means navigating a different minefield filled with an obsessive ex-mistress, a skeptical wife and the fragile trust of his children.
Levi's redemption doesn't come easy- he is deeply flawed and watching him struggle balancing honesty with protecting his family felt entirely real and earned. Sloane, the novel's emotional anchor, isn't a pushover or cruel. She's guarded and extremely strong, perfectly encapsulating the realistic journey toward forgiveness. Their children felt like real people, and the mysterious Charlie Monroe adds intrigue and depth to the entire story.
The writing is tight, emotional, and perfectly paced, moving between tense, high-stakes moments and intimate, vulnerable exchanges. The romance builds organically through small, consistent acts rather than hollow grand gestures, while suspense from Angie’s stalking and the looming pandemic heightens the urgency.

One More Chance is an emotionally intense and gripping dark psychological romance that dives deep into themes of love, loss, and redemption. The story follows Levi, who wakes up twelve years in the past after a tragic car accident, only to find himself at the moment he walked away from the love of his life, Sloane. Armed with the knowledge of the devastation he caused, Levi is determined to make things right this time — even if it takes a lifetime to prove that she was always the one.

The concept of a second chance is explored with raw emotion and complexity. Levi’s journey of self-reflection and the attempt to repair the wreckage of his past is not only heartbreaking but deeply thought-provoking. His love for Sloane feels genuine and desperate, yet the tension between them is palpable as they grapple with old wounds. The stakes are high, as Levi must navigate not only his own emotional turmoil but also the fractured relationships with his family, while the world around them threatens to unravel.

Mist’s writing excels at pulling the reader into the depths of Levi and Sloane’s turmoil, making this a book that truly makes you think about the choices we make, the people we hurt, and the power of redemption. The romance is slow-burning, layered with complexity, and powerful in its vulnerability. It’s a story that pushes the boundaries of love, forgiveness, and second chances.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.

So we are immediately thrown into our MMCs story. The immediate vibe of this is groundhog Day with a romance redo. There's a couple of twists and turns I didn't see coming as well. Also I will say some of the beginning is a little redundant but otherwise I really enjoyed reading this.

One More Chance is a powerful second-chance romance about rebuilding trust after betrayal. Levi returns to his wife Sloane after an affair, filled with regret and determined to make things right. Their journey is raw, emotional, and complicated — especially as the other woman, Angie, becomes dangerously obsessive.
I enjoyed the story and would definitely read another book by this author

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5)
This romance felt grounded and real. The characters navigated unexpected parenthood and second chances with tenderness and humor. Their journey toward forgiveness and commitment warmed me more than I expected. It moved slowly but meaningfully and wrapped me in the emotional unfolding.

This felt like a really unique especially with it being from Levi (the MMC's) POV. However I did struggle with the idea that Levi overall wasn't really a goofd guy and it seemed like he was looking out for himself but he does have some good character development throughout the book. I also loved the portrayal and addition of coeliac disease, as someone who suffers from it, I have seen it in a fictional book before and I appreciated how well it was portrayed.

This was a very interesting plot and different from anything else I've ever read. It also has a cheating trope. Levi, after dying, gets a second chance at life and love when he wakes up 12 years in the past. This is a chance for him to right the wrongs he did to his family. He had cheated on his wife and left a trail of heartbreak. I enjoyed this very unique second chance romance. I like how much Levi groveled, his character growth and how he really tried for his wife, Sloane's forgiveness. There is also some entertaining OW drama which I love to read about. I would definitely read more from this author.

Thank you NetGalley for the ebook arc. I’m torn on my option of this book while it’s well written it’s definitely dark so those that having triggers for cheating should not read this book. This book is full of twist I never saw coming. I expected a dark romance with stalker vibes as I was reading and ended up having a timeline twist
It follows him as he’s mid-thrust into his mistress when he realizes that he’s in his body but years before he dies in a car crash. Pulling out he decides in that moment that he needs to fix his marriage that he had walked out just days before. Then following him as he tries again to gain his wife’s trust and recounting the choices that made him go down the dark road of cheating.
As he fixes his relationship with his wife his mistress gets more and more desperate and even breaks into the family home. When she spewing what he though was crazy talk he discovers he is not the only one to go back twelve years, and that he do whatever it takes to fix it this time.
Thinking this was just a dark romance I was wrong this book kept me invested thru the whole book, spice, though her and die, timeline skip.

Review: One More Chance
Author: Reno M. Mist
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Thank you to NetGalley and Posh Pangolin Publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

One More Chance is a dark, emotional, and deeply introspective second-chance romance with a time travel twist. The premise is undeniably intriguing: Levi, a man who destroyed his marriage through infidelity, is given a rare opportunity to go back in time and rewrite his biggest regret—proving himself worthy of his wife, Sloane, and their children. It’s a story that blends speculative fiction with heavy emotional themes, including betrayal, grief, and redemption.

There’s a lot to admire in this debut. The time travel element adds a fresh spin to the second-chance trope, and the author doesn’t shy away from portraying the raw aftermath of infidelity. Levi’s journey toward self-awareness and growth is front and center, and I appreciated how much work he puts in to become a better version of himself. Sloane, meanwhile, is a grounded and admirable character who sets boundaries, prioritizes healing, and never makes reconciliation easy—rightfully so.

That said, my reading experience was mixed. The pacing felt uneven, particularly in the first third, where inner monologues and repetitive reflections slowed the momentum. Levi’s internal guilt, while understandable, was often stated rather than shown, and I found myself wishing for more scenes that allowed the emotional stakes to play out naturally. The writing noticeably tightened in the second half, and the story became more engaging as a result.

While the emotional arc was compelling, I struggled to fully connect with the romance. For a story centered on rebuilding a relationship, I wanted more visceral, heart-wrenching moments—more of the emotional intensity that could make me feel the pain and longing between these characters. At times, the narrative felt more focused on explaining their growth than letting readers experience it.

The time travel mechanics were intriguing but underexplained, leaving some plot logic a little murky, especially as other characters are hinted to have had similar “do-over” experiences. And while the inclusion of pandemic-related events added realism, it may feel heavy for readers looking for escapism.

Despite its flaws, One More Chance has heart. It’s a brave and honest portrayal of what it means to own your mistakes and fight for forgiveness, even when it seems out of reach. While the execution didn’t fully land for me, I’m intrigued enough by the emotional depth and potential of the series to consider reading the next installment.

Recommended for readers who enjoy emotionally complex stories with themes of redemption, healing, and a touch of speculative fiction—especially those willing to embrace a flawed but evolving hero.
