It seems like we are getting more books that are now focusing on WWI. This series is a wonderful representation of how life was for young girls during that time. There was more camaraderie and dedication to each other back then and this book is reflecting it. Highly recommend anyone who enjoys that timeframe.

I loved this book, it was a story of strength, courage, heartbreak and family, blood family and chosen family. It’s 1918 and the Great War is about to end, soldiers are coming home with shell shock and are struggling to join back into regular life. The book shows the power of books and reading and their mental health benefits. There is some heartbreak in the story but generally it’s a cozy feel good read. Really enjoyed it!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

The end of WW2 is looming. Alice, Victoria and Molly, along with Mr Leadbetter strive to keep Foyles bookstore the hub of war torn London. Despite the turmoil and tragedy within their families, the girls are there for one another. Looking forward to the next chapter of this fascinating saga.

London 1918 book three.
The Foyles bookshop girls, Alice Victoria and Molly, working for Mr Leadbetter, having to face more challenges ahead.
A heartwarming story of a bonded friendship, united we stand, divided we fall, they really are the three musketeers.
This is a beautiful story taking us through, illness, secrets, heartache, forgiveness as well as love and compassion.
That ends in peacetime Christmas 2018.
It will leave tears and Joy.
Oh I truly loved this story.

A sweet, but sad story of victory, endings and new beginnings. And love. I want more, I hope there will be a new series by this author soon.

The bookshop girls face end-of-war changes alongside expected and unexpected family additions. This installment in the series dealt with shell shock and how (it seemed) most of the male characters were afflicted with it. It was a gallant attempt to make shell shock less of a shameful thing but the group sessions and overall open-mindedness of most of the townspeople seemed unrealistic for 1918.
Alice uncovered her father's dark secret and true reason for his numerous trip to Norwich, and while she was understandably upset as was her sister Lily, I found their mother's reaction to miss the mark. It seems plausible that she would not want to make a big deal of it - that seems to be in keeping with the times - but for her to show such magnanimity and invite the 2nd mother and half sibling into their family's Christmas celebrations did not ring true.
It was repeatedly and abundantly made clear that Molly was pregnant. The not-so-subtle clues up until the big announcement detracted. But the most off-putting aspect of this story line was the continuous mention of Molly somehow always touching/holding/protecting/supporting her pregnant stomach. I do wish I had counted the number of times this phrase "very prominent bump" was worked into the text. The repetition was distracting to the point of being eye-rolling.
I wanted this to be less-kitschy.

Another brilliant book in this series. Lots of twists and turns that keep the reader wanting to keep reading! The storyline regarding shell shock and the suffering of troops returning from the war is especially poignant and strong. It is important to remember that shell shock is not something anyone should be ashamed of as it was sadly treated by the forces back when the book was set. Every person who went to war was a hero.
As always I look forward to the next book in the series and what will happen now the war has ended. I hope that Victoria can find some happiness and her new role will help give her some focus. The bond between the girls is something I wish I had with others as together they are a force to be reckoned with.
I hope the series carries on for many more volumes and we get to know the next generation that are being born and brought up.
As always thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and Elaine Roberts for allowing me to read and review an Arc copy.
