This book was sweet and I think it would be really appealing as a bedtime story for children. The drawings were adorable and really added to the depth of the cat’s character and how he feels about things. I was a little disappointed that the drawings were in mostly neutral colours and more brightness could have been added. It was also disappointing that some of the drawings were multiplied on the same page as opposed to having individualised elements for each drawing. Some of the text also repeated on the following pages although it was generally sweet and enjoyable.

I love it as a cozy book for children and adults who like George need some peace and quiet. For me personally it was not the book for this moment, even though it made me feel calm and relaxed. I would love to read it to my children once I have them

This book is a story of George, and what his big thoughts are while he is staying still. This book was soo cute! The art needs to be printed and hung on walls. I loved the way you could feel the authors love for her cat, and in turn the love George has for her. My only criticism is that I think the storyline could be organized a bit better. I think the flow was interrupted at certain times, For example, going from George being a knight to his favorite things and then back to being a knight. Other than that I thought it was adorable! Especially loved the cat notes at the end explaining why cats just sit and stare!

This picture book is absolutely adorable. It's very cosy and sweet, with cute messages, stories and illustrations. It's definitely the perfect picture book for any cat lovers!
However, I found that the story was quite long with not much connection - I've found the most engaging picture books are ones where the story continues across page to page, even if not completely related (if that makes sense). Perhaps this book would be presented better as a physical copy, but I found the seperate pages of art quite disrupting from the flow of the picture books. They were very cute illustrations, but I didn't think multiple pages between each story was necessary.
Other than that, this book is very cute. It's a lovely simple picture book about cats. If you're looking for something sweet and basic, this is perfect.

An adorably illustrated book poetically musing about what might be going through a cat's mind during the quiet moments. George is a reminder that cats are observant and loving in their own unique ways.

I like the main focus of the book. George is a cat with lots of different thoughts. He loves birds and sees his boxes as his own castle, which gives him a very creative and imaginative personality. But next to that the story is very interesting, the drawings are a bit questionable? If it has been drawn by someone then that is so cool! Sometimes George has blue eyes, sometimes black. Sometimes he has stripes and sometimes he doesn’t? And the picture with the icecream is just off with his paws! Thats why it has 2 stars for me. It is a picture book so the drawings should make sense.

What a sweet book! What George Thinks When He Sits Still is the author’s love letter to her cat George and is a beautifully illustrated and very peaceful read. This would make a lovely bedtime story for children as the words are so calm and the pictures so cute but I’m sure all cat lovers would enjoy it. The message encouraging quiet, stillness, imagination and connection with the world around us is good for us all in a busy world, and you can’t help but feel more relaxed after reading it. Lovely!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy in return for an honest review.

A beautifully illustrated book about George the cat and his musings.
As a cat lover I smiled so much, recognising the universal language of cats that the author has conveyed so brilliantly through words and art.
You can tell this was written with love, and it was a gorgeous way to start my morning.
Highly recommend if you love cats.

A gorgeous little children’s/young adults book on the importance of cats, slowing down, mindfulness, and love. The illustrations were exquisitely drawn. A very sweet little hygge book.
