This story had a good beginning of putting these two characters together, the bluestocking who turns down marriage proposals and the dark Duke with a cloudy past surrounding his prior marriage, who has to get married and move on with his life. There is the compromising situation that causes the couple to have to marry. Once married what James first thought of as refreshing now seems a lot like spoiled so the marriage conflicts begins. Overall this was well written, offers historical perspective and is a nice break from my standard reading.
