When Cora wakes up after a terrible accident, all memory of her life before is gone. With amnesia, Cora must rely on a man who is telling her he is her husband Evan, but she doesn't recognize him. As Cora goes about exploring the farmhouse where she is told she lives, Cora finds another woman's things. When Evan tells her that they belong to the woman who lived in the farmhouse before, Cora begins to dig a bit deeper. Why would this other woman leave so much stuff behind, including a locket and some photos? As Cora continues to piece together who she is and what came before, Evan's Aunt drops a bombshell on Cora, telling her that she needs to get out because she's not his wife. But what happens when Cora's memories come back?

L.G. Davis is a highly underrated author in my opinion. This is the third or fourth book that I have read and they just keep getting better! From the first page, I was hooked! The good old smnesia trope can be overplayed, but with this story it felt original. As we start to unravel who Cora is and what happened, the tension and suspense build beautifully. One way that Davis excels in her thrillers is how she creates the stifling claustrophobia that stays with you. The twists are well executed and just when you believe you have a handle on what's going on, she pulls the rug out from underneath you! Overall, I would definitely recommend to readers who want to read a tight twist filled domestic thriller!

Thank you to NetGalley, L.G. Davis, and Bookouture this Arc! Publication date is July 15th 2025.

ARC read through NetGalley. 4.5 ⭐️I am not obligated to offer a review, but I am going to! This book will forever live rent free in my mind. Throughout the first part of the book I couldn’t figure anything out. All I could think was this sounds really familiar, like the Netflix movie Secret Obession. Then I got to the last half and still couldn’t figure it out. By the end of the story none of my assumptions were correct, believe me, I had three different scenarios going! I could not have guessed this ending or the twists if I tried. The story is gripping. The characters are insane for different reasons. Honestly, I don’t feel sorry for any of them. Even the character who you think is doing some good, she’s still a little crazy herself. If you pick this book up, just do yourself a favor, pay close attention, because all the clues are there.

Not His Wife by L.G. Davis is a fast-paced, twist-filled psychological thriller that keeps readers on edge from the very first page.
Another great read from this author who always writes good books and I enjoy thoroughly.
The storyline was excellent which just made me keep on reading and couldn't stop until the last page.
Very engaging story with lots of twists and turns as all is revealed culminating in an explosive ending.

Learn to listen and trust your instincts.
If something doesn’t feel right it usually isn’t.
For the frost chapter something was off about all the characters in this book. Evan was too smooth. Cora conveniently amnesiac, Mary confused, and watchful Lina.
Plus a basement door that’s always locked with strange noises emanating from behind it.
I had numerous clues but I couldn’t make them fit as they should.
It was an interesting read with a switch in the narrative that will keep readers on their toes. Who says anyone is innocent???

Once again, L.G. Davis did not disappoint! I absolutely love her writing style — it’s so smooth and addictive.

Full of twists that had me fully engaged, piecing together the mystery alongside the characters, and I loved every minute of it.

Reading Not His Wife felt like getting trapped inside someone else’s nightmare—but in the best, most binge-worthy way. It’s sinister without being gratuitous, creepy without needing jump scares. Davis serves paranoia on a silver platter and makes you second-guess everything: the characters, the timeline, the entire definition of truth.

And the pacing? Ruthless. Just when you think you’ve found footing, the rug’s yanked out, and you’re stumbling into another twist that somehow makes perfect, horrifying sense.

Honestly, this book doesn’t just scratch the psychological itch—it claws at it until you’re wide-eyed and thinking about the story days later.

I wake up in a dark room, gazing into a stranger's amber eyes. He runs a hand down my cheek and whispers something that melts my heart "Welcome home darling. I'm your husband." My whole life until this moment is gone. I have amnesia after a terrible accident, and now I have to trust what my husband, Euan, says. But everything feels wrong, from the moment he gives me the name, "Cora," to the home he says I loved. As I explore our sprawling old farmhouse, I find another woman's belongings, and Euan says they belong to the woman who lived here before us. Then I hear something in the basement that sends a shiver down my spine.

When I picked this book up, I didn't want to put it down again until the last page had been turned. It's a reasonably quick read. Most of the story is told from Cora's perspective. Some parts felt a bit slow. Everything was explained by the end of the book. The twists were good. There was a good twist in the epilogue. I enjoyed the plot.

Wowza! A psychological thriller at its best. I would love to see this made into a movie. Well developed characters and a crazy twisted plot leave you clamoring for more. I was given a complimentary copy of this book and the opinions are my own.

Not His Wife by L.G. Davis totally hooked me from the start. The whole “wakes up in a life she doesn’t remember” setup? So creepy and compelling. It had that perfect mix of wait, what?! moments and slow-burning dread that kept me flipping pages way past bedtime.

The plot is fast-paced, and the twists keep coming. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, Davis throws in something new that makes you question everything. I loved the suspense and the general vibe of trust no one. It definitely gives off Behind Closed Doors meets The Silent Patient energy.

Why not 5 stars? A few of the characters felt a little flat, and some of the reveals were a bit too neat or convenient. I wanted a little more depth in the emotional side of things, especially with the main character's backstory.

Still, it was a super fun and addictive read. If you love psychological thrillers that mess with your head and keep you guessing, this one’s a solid pick.

I absolutely loved this book! It kept me guessing from beginning to end. The suspense and mystery were perfectly woven, making it impossible to put down. It completely pulled me out of my reading slump. I felt deeply invested in the main character and her journey and was rooting for her every step of the way through this gripping, intense, and emotionally engaging read.

This book was a fairly enjoyable read, with several interesting twists and turns. I did feel that the chapters sometimes read quite choppy from one interaction to the next which I found hindered my ability to feel anything for the characters, good or bad.

wisty thriller, but the timeline was pretty confusing and jumped around a lot. There were a bunch of gaps in the story, and while some twists caught me off guard, others were pretty obvious and made me eye-roll.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review

🔪 | thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this eArc!

This was my first book by L.G Davis and I really enjoyed it!

When I started this book, the total duration of this book said roughly 5 hours (if you read about 1 page or 1.5 pages per minute). I'm also a sucker for short chapters, which was delivered! Whenever I had time to sit down and read this, the pages flewwww by. It was such a quick read, highly recommend to someone who needs a quick binge. So refreshing from the 500 page books I typically read.

The plot, the twists, the characters> amazing. HOWEVER, the end felt a *tad* rushed. This probably would've been a 5 star read if it wasn't for the ending. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the ending and still realllllyy enjoyed this read BUT I wish we would've gotten *more* , especially now knowing what we know.

Anyway, Not His Wife is released on July 15th!👵🏻🌟☠️

If you're looking for a fast-paced psychological thriller that keeps you turning the pages, Not His Wife delivers in spades. From the very first chapter, the story moves at a gripping pace, pulling you into a world of secrets, suspense, and unexpected twists.

One of the standout elements for me was the character of Cora. She’s smart, relatable, and driven by a natural curiosity that makes her both compelling and believable. I loved how her instincts and determination guided the story forward—she’s the kind of character you root for, even when the odds are stacked against her.

The plot is tightly woven, with just the right balance of tension and revelation to keep you guessing. L.G. Davis does a fantastic job of building suspense without overcomplicating the narrative, making this a perfect weekend read for fans of domestic thrillers.

Overall, Not His Wife is a sharp, engaging read with memorable characters and a storyline that doesn’t let up. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a good psychological twist and a heroine who won’t stop digging for the truth.

A fast read, I was engaged from start to finish!

It’s clear early on that things aren’t quite as they seem. Cora has had an accident that’s left her with no memories, and we’re right there with her as she struggles to uncover her past while also trying to figure out what’s happening at the farmhouse. Strange things keep happening, and something definitely isn’t right.

As Cora slowly starts to piece together fragments of her memories, a few twists are thrown in, one especially big one toward the end! I was constantly trying to guess what would happen, but I was still completely shocked.

I felt a mix of anxiety and surprise as everything unraveled and Cora began to discover the truth, but that’s exactly what makes a book impactful to me: it made me feel something.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. If you love thrillers with twists that are hard to predict, this is the book for you!

Thank you to NetGalley, L.G. Smith, and Bookouture for allowing me to read another of this author’s great works!

This book had me hooked right from the beginning. There were several twists and turns throughout the story that I did not see coming. I had an idea of what was going to happen, but boy was I wrong! This one also included some of my favorite thriller tropes- an unreliable narrator, an old house in the country side, and a husband that you just can't trust. I'll definitely be reading more from this author!

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay, so this one hit different. If you like your romance with a side of messy feelings and characters who feel real (flaws and all), you’ll dig Not His Wife. It’s got that “wait, are they really supposed to be together?” tension that keeps you flipping pages way past bedtime.

The story pulls you in with its mix of drama, secrets, and that slow simmer of attraction that finally explodes. The leads? Complex without being exhausting they mess up, they grow, and you actually care about what happens next.

What I loved most was how the emotional stuff wasn’t shoved under the rug. It’s raw but also hopeful, like yeah, love’s hard, but maybe worth fighting for.

The only tiny downside a couple of scenes dragged a bit, but honestly, it didn’t kill the vibe.

If you want a book that’s romantic, intense, but still grounded, this is a solid pick. Perfect for binge-reading on a chill weekend.

This book is amazing, like really AMAZING! I love a plot that, despite several excellent twists, throws another one in right at the very end, literally on the very last page! This is where L. G. Davis excels, every time. Keeping the reader very much on their toes and as soon as everything seems to be wrapping up beautifully, throwing a massive curve ball into the mix to turn everything on its head.

After an accident, Cora doesn't remember anything about her life and is dependant on her husband, Evan, to guide her through her rehabilitation and, hopefully, the eventual return of her memories. Evan is patient and supportive, almost too protective at times. Evan's elderly Aunt Mary lives with the couple, but her dementia means that Cora can't depend on her to help with getting her memory back, so she starts reading Mary's diary when she forgetfully leaves it behind. And then... well, I can't say much more, other than nobody is who they seem.

The characters in this brilliant book are superbly well written, it was impossible to guess the truth and even when it did appear to be resolved, there was more to come. A meticulously thought out plot and a gripping read all round.

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, L. G. Davis and Bookouture, for an ARC of this book.
